Just saw Prometheus. Awesome movie.

Great movie. The map room scene in 3D is nothing short of amazing.

Go see it.

I hardly ever watch movies in 3D always is more hype then any extra added experience. Would you say this one is worth the 3D?

Overall, probably not. But there are a few select scenes that were amazing, especially the map room scene where the entire universe is displayed in 3D as a map. I totally got lost in that scene and it was only a few mins long.

What's it cost to see a first run new release in your part of the world?

It cost me $13 per ticket to go and see the Avengers.

There is no difference between first or any release price, price goes up if movie is in 3d and if you go to "extreme"room. So biggest price when all counted is 7$.

Got my tickets. Saturday, 10am. 3D.

CANNOT WAIT.

Also, if anyone talks during the movie, I will fucking kill them. Seriously. I will kill someone dead, I don't give a fuck.

$7 for IMAX is nice. That's like $20+ here.

I hardly go to the movies anymore. Home theatre is where it's at.

Usually it costs around $3 dollars for a new release, sometimes $4. They change it for some movies with 3D being a dollar or two more. However, for Prometheus I paid $6.77 which was the most I've ever paid in Thailand for a movie. Not sure why they raised the price on this one.

Usually we can get two tickets, popcorn and drinks for around $8 or so. You can also buy beer at the theater.

Theaters here are starting with the food and beer stuff too. I was just in Orlando and the one at Downtown Disney is basically a full restaurant now. You can eat a Filet Mignon while watching your movie. That would definitely get me out of the house and back into the theaters.

just got back from it, some scenes are awesome but I thought it would be better, 6/10. Didn't really notice the 3D, didn't seem to need it.

I was really looking forward to it when i thought it was a prequal to Alien. When i found out it wasn't though, i wasn't quite as interested.

After hearing quite a few not so good reports on it aswell, i'm not actually sure if i will even go and see it, or wait till i can pay for it to watch at home...

I got stung for $16 per ticket to see MIB 3 in IMAX 3D last night. Had to go ask my Fiancee if this was correct, usually she just grabs the tickets etc while I mess around on the gumball machine lol.

I watched it yesterday and it was pretty good. It actually is a prequel to Alien, hard to see that during the movie but you will see it.

Ridley Scott had to do some serious hallucinogenics when he was young to come up with this story and graphics, just amazing. Also I didnt see it in 3d as Madagascar had the 3D theater.

It actually kinda reminded me of Dune a bit. If your sci fi fan its a must see.

I saw it today. Awesome Production Value but the script had very very much to be desired. I don't want to get into it too much to spoil it for everyone, but it actually opened up more questions to me than it answered.

To be a little more specific without spoiling anything, you can't have a story that starts out with the question they were asking and then not answer it. That's just flat out bad writing.

I hardly ever go to theaters anymore. I'm not going to pay $19 per ticket for this one either.

When it comes out on bluray I'll just buy it for $30 and my whole family can see it at once or whenever they want to... in 3D in my living room... while having a steak... and nobody texting or talking or wanting to walk in front of me to get to the bathroom.

Winning!

I think the opening scene was the answer they were seeking but didn't get.

What wasn't 100% clear was if the opening scene was done on purpose or was it an accident (his death). Then the ending of the movie, she is going on to see where the engineers came from, which leads to the thought of THE answer of who created us may never be answered, as someone would have created another, and so on and so forth. But that leaves it wide open for a sequel.

I also want to know why they were trying to wipe out earth after they created it. That partially makes me think that the creation of earth was an accident, or they created earth "because they could." Hopefully the next one will put all of that together.

I didnt really like prometheus. In the beginning, the movie has potential, but never delivers. I kept waiting for ridley scott to connect all the pieces of the story in way that makes you go "Wow" but he never did. Hopefully, there will be a part 2 to complete the story.

Wtf was in those jars? Why were all the jars on the floor in that room w/ the head? What were those big holographic dudes running from? What was the agenda of the last surviving "creator?" Was he going to earth to kill everyone with that jar shit? Why did those scientists who got infected turn into zombie monsters? Why did that alien at the end look different than the aliens we know?

Fuck Ridley Scott for not making it a better movie, like i know it couldve been. Lol.

Yes, he is making another one.

That baby Alien at the end I think was the first Alien. A hybrid of human, engineer, and alien.

I would think they intentionally did it that way too, except the cowriter on it was the guy who created lost which had the same friggin issues of lazy writing. I think they certainly have no problem with a sequel, but it probably won't be Ridley so you are going to end up with one of those phantasm or highlander contraptions when they are done.

Anyways, it looked awesome and so did the aliens in it, but it left way to many things hanging and didn't make a lot of sense in spots.

For instance? Why did she have to be impregnated, but the big alien had it done to him the same way that john hurt did in the actual Alien? Just a lot of stuff like that.

Another thing, and here is an example of really really lazy writing - they are just about to communicate with the big alien dude and instead of doing so, he kills the robot dude and then kills just about everyone else (so we don't have to give that scene any thought, thank God).

Oh wait, the robot isn't dead, so he could have communicated anyway, but chose not to and let everyone die. So awesome. That's one alien that doesn't like to get fucking woke up early

I think her getting pregnant was them showing how the alien we all know of came to be. He is a mix of human, engineer, and other alien. That makes for one hybrid of a bad ass alien. Maybe it will later have something to do with its reproductive system and how it lays eggs.

I'll give you this. You know the story a lot better than those writers did. They should have had you write it. Then maybe it would have made some sense (I'm not even joking).

Another thing I didn't like was the fact that almost all the characters in it were cannon fodder and obviously so, not the way they did it in Alien. I couldn't even understand why some of the characters were in it at all except to be killed unnecessarily. It didn't add anything to the story or explain anything or even set up more peril (most of the time)

That whole subplot with the old man. I mean give me a break. What was the point. He's a genius and then boom he's dead.

I do agree with that. The old man being on the ship was a total waste of time and served to real purpose when they just killed him off so fast. Had he been given eternal life or something, then it would have worked. But he was on the ship, he suited up, then got killed by his maker, or God. Kind of silly and the irony of this man spending a trillion dollars or whatever it was to meet his maker, only to be killed by him, wasn't clever at all.

At the very least, it would have been cool to see the engineer put his hand on his head and pour all universal knowledge into his head, so much so that it melted his brain and killed him while giving him all the answers to life at the same time. Like OK, you want to know... here it is. BAM! He gets to know it all but it kills him. That would have been better maybe.

It was pretty good, 7 euros here per ticket (for regular dolby 3D, not IMAX)

I enjoyed the film and all the questions it raised, to discuss with others. There's actually going to be two more I think, as the "prequel" was to be a trilogy. So there will be more answers coming in the next films.

I would say skip the IMAX, but the 3D is actually pretty nice. It isn't the in-your-face type but some great scenery and terrain, etc...

Loool. Thats what I wanted, something cool like that! Ridley couldve shown all the knowledge being poured into his head and used that as an opportunity to be super creative. He couldve shown the guy the entire history of the engineer race. Or even what came before the big bang or how space and time are the exact same thing. Maybe how there are forms of life that exist in more than 3 spacial dimensions and how they view us. The possibilities are endless. But fucking Ridley didnt do any of that shit. Instead he just had the dude wake up and kill everyone.

Two more parts to this story would be wonderful! In the original Alien you see an engineer dead in the control seat with his ribs busted open. I was waiting for that part in Prometheus the whole movie and it never happened. Instead, the final engineer gets his ribs busted open on that medical ship, lying down. I wonder if that dead engineer in the control seat of Alien was supposed to be the same engineer that we see die, at the end of Prometheus.

I usually don't care much for 3D movies but it really works with this one. There's no "in your face" stuff, but it feels very "deep".

Also, I just read tonight that they shot this film with 3D in mind. Shooting in 3D requires alot more light. They over lit the scenes then digitally darkened things afterwards so that the cool moody scenes were properly visible in 3D.

NO SPOILERS

Just saw it tonight. The IMAX 3D version is now $20.00 a ticket, but totally worth it. Huge screen of course, and WOW, the sound... just WOW...

This is the first good Ridley Scott movie in a really long time.

You don't have to have scene the other Alien movies (or even the first Alien), but it helps to have. It is definitely a prequel to Alien regardless of the movie's hype. There is easily a dozen nods to the Alien movies.

Visual Effects are the best I've seen since Avatar.

There is one really insane, exciting scene, that my GF (Tracy) and I were on the edge of our seats. I won't spoil it, but it was fucking great.

GOOD MOVIE. Go see it. In IMAX 3D.

Maybe the engineer isn't really dead and he finds his way to a seat, where he finally dies? Or maybe the aliens attack all the engineers in the universe, so finding them dead with their ribs busted open could be the norm. Or, maybe they just messed up and forgot to put him in the control seat.

Many options. Looking forward to the next one.

I suspect the engineer in the seat is actually going to be in the next film.

Prometheus story is based on planet LV 223.

The alien planet in the original film (wrecked alien spacecraft that has an Engineer in the seat) is LV-426. So the Prometheus Alien is more than likely not the same one you see in the wrecked ship in the original Alien film.

Tracing back the original Alien story and why there is a ship on LV 426 and an Engineer. Its likely the ship that Shaw' arrives on LV 426 with and it might be the Engineers planet (so that an Engineer is present and at some point, finds his way into the seat).

I love the concept and idea of this movie, but carrying it out and ending up kinda like the old movie "Aliens" I didn't like, overall I thought is overrated but still I give it a solid 7.7 rating
