Sold my Porsche 968 today...

i still have a Mercedes company car but i rarely drive anyways since i have everything in walking distance - including a supermarket downstairs in my building

and instead of wasting my money on fixing my cars all the time, i will now waste it on nice vacations to exotic countries

Good idea. My vehicle is a specialty vehicle, I've been thinking about renting it out because I rarely use it. They rent for pretty good money.

A good friend of mine lived in Boston and now San Francisco, she has never owned an auto. Rents one on occasion but walks everywhere.

yeah, why not, just make sure to have a good insurance.

i was driving on the average maybe once per month, when i went out and was going outside the city center i took a cab anyways. also i always had to walk half a mile just to get to my car - pretty useless to own one.

i went for 2yrs without a car here after my relocation to DR, finally gave in and bought another one just makes it easier for dates, going out late at night safely, and pickup up hoes. but really i can do without, maybe drive here twice a week if that. its incredibly liberating not buying gas everyday and actually talking to people on the street

Whoever strapped that car through the rims should be shot. Strap to the chassis or over the tyres.

Never not owned a car, not really a possibility for me where I am located.

Try living here in the French campagne without a car. Nearest town with supermarket, baker, bank is a 10 minute drive. I tried it on a bicycle once, being used to flat pancake country Holland of course I underestimated the French hills and when I got back home I went straight to bed lol.

What's living in Brno like Ma Dalton, are the people nice over there? Little crime? Better than Prague?

That is one aspect I enjoyed about living in a small town in Germany, you could always walk or ride a bicycle to get what you need.....and the bratwurst stand in between would fill you up so you never overspent when you went to the market.

I used to live in Borgholzhausen ;)

Good on you

I have a car but I hardly drive it. Yet I'm in the car for about 1 hour a day.

I have a driver and wifi in the car, so I just sit in the back and work.

Where I live cars are forbidden by law, so never own one. Its a small village, nobody has a car so everything has to be close enough together. When we go to "the city" it's by ferry...

Please don't detract from my begging threads.

In your situation I would of sold them years ago. A chauffeured limousine would of been cheaper and better.

Never owned one when I lived near my studio in London. It was upstairs.

i have no intention moving anywhere else - thats says it all

it's a nice midsized town with 400,000 people plus about 80,000 students from all over the world.

and almost no crime at all - seriously - i dont even see bar fights or something like that. sure, here and there a car gets broken into or similar, but i havent heard of any serious incidents for a long time.

the advantages of Prague are that its easier to get around with english and culturally it offers more. but also more crime, more stress, more traffic jams and usually higher costs

It is strapped to the chassis. There are straps going behind the wheels. The reason why they strapped through the rims is that poland has a law that you have to have some certain number of straps holding a car.

Sounds awesome. Even though I work with Czech models a lot also from the Brno region and they tell me often about Czech I pictured Czech a little like a dark dangerous country. I thought about moving to Prague sometimes, the models told me houses are expensive in the city but in the region like 30kms from Prague they're a lot cheaper already. They also tell me that if they have to travel from Brno to Prague, both train and the road are horrible options... the long road between these two cities apparently is in very bad condition and train takes a very long time?

I definitely should spend some time in Czech this year.

CZ is neither dark nor dangerous at all, just stay away from the gypsy ghettos in Teplice or Decin

Renting flats in Prague can be cheap as well but yeah, if you want to rent something around Wenzlaws Square it becomes expensive. Brno is a lot cheaper.

And most models (if they dont go by car) take the bus from Prague to Brno (or the other way). It costs like 6-8 Euro in a modern bus with movies and WIFI and takes about 2.5h for 200km. and whoever says that road is in a bad condition has never been to Poland or other more eastern countries. it's the right lane for about 60-70 km in both directions thats a bit fucked up.

to me it sounds almost like they don't want you here and make up horrible stories for you

lol well there are a few Czech models who wouldn't want to work with me again, I got sent quite a lot of trash by agencies in the past and some of them were put back on the plane back to Prague by me directly after arriving in France and then of course they'll hate you forever - but I deal with proper Czech agencies now and worked with great Czech models lately and get along with them fine, some are even friends.

If I remember well there was a model from Brno who flew from Prague to Paris to shoot with me, it was in winter and her flight was early so she had to get on the bus at 5am or so, and the way she told me about her journey it sounded like horror haha.

Apart from this they didn't tell me anything bad about Czech, it's just that from where I am located now, Czech is about the same direction as Russia and we all know the stories about that country But Czech is a totally different country of course.

I think the landscape and nature in France are comparable to Czech... the forests, mountains, etc. I really like that, that's why I live in the campagne and not in Paris. So I want to visit Czech and see what it's like and what the possibilities are. If I fly in models from there I might as well move there and shoot there, I'm sure life is a lot cheaper than in France too.

i'm biased and i have never been to Russia. but i would call CZ the poor(er) version of Austria, they have a lot in common (considering they share also some history from Austrian Empire times).

No bias at all. We sometimes call us as wild version of Austrians, lol. the last time in Vienna, i was like "WTF? its the fucking same country with same people, but different language".

Anyway , the thing with living in the Prague is, to be located on the outskirts of Prague. There are some nice suburbs, where you actually feel you are living somewhere in the countryside (south prague). I live in the part of Prague, which is almost small city itself, within big city. 17 minutes by fast train to main railway station and with car it takes around 30 minutes, so i dont need a car at all. And i dont need Prague at all too, only to visit some pubs with other friends.
The thing with cars is to have a lot of friends who own it, so they can always take you when needed

Guys you make it sound as Czech is a paradise on earth. The next thing you're going to tells us is that the girls there are beautiful and sexually very open minded and very easy to shoot with!

Another serious question; how are international flight connections with Brno? As I understand there is an airport but for travel to the US, UK, etc, would you take a flight from Brno or from Prague? Aren't flights to/from Brno more expensive?

hehe

Brnos airport is tiny, you have some connections with Ryanair and Wizz Air - for example to London and Eindhoven.

i mostly go from Vienna, it's about 120 km from Brno and takes 1.5h by car to get there. And the connections are usually better than from Prague - at least when you go west
