Good point, let's ban arrows while we're at it. After all, those are "designed" to kill as well.

The weapon of choice for LA street gangs is a BBQ fork. How dangerous can a fork be? People can easily run away from that attack.

The danger isn't just the weapon, the real danger is the person using the weapon.

I checked again and i was wrong but not wrong on purpose or to troll.

http://www.seattlepi.com/news/crime/...ot-3969212.php

Chief Ronald Leindecker told the Beaver County Times that a male relative mistook her for a skunk and fired a shotgun, hitting her in the shoulder, arm, back and neck Saturday night.

When they said shotgun i didn't think of the fact that it's not just 1 bullet so she can be hit in several places with 1 shot.
Sorry, we don't grow up with guns over here. Like in your 3rd world country.

I bet you'd feel differently about guns if you experienced a home invasion and the thugs were gang raping your wife in front of you.

Guns do make things safer. In the right hands. Other than that guns in the hands of idiots can have a totally different outcome.

Example is this shooting. Skunks are generally afraid of humans and will quickly make an exit spraying only when threatened. However a sure way to have a skunk spray is to shoot it. So ? this brilliant outdoorsman decided to stink up the backyard by shooting a skunk so that what ? the skunk wouldn't stink up the backyard?

Always "if" or "only when" etc.
In the meantime your country has more crime and murder than any other western world country AND also the highest gun numbers.

Do the math.

You can keep saying guns are safe IF or WHEN but that if or when isn't happening.

I doubt you are not realizing that there is difference between degree of damage that can do fork and firearms. We can't amputate people's fistsand avoid people being hurt in fight, but there is much less damage then people fighting armed. In a same way USA don't want to give other countries to have nuclear weapons. They can simply do less damage then with it..Well this is stupid debate, anyway. I am out.

there is a larger chance of that gun being used inappropriately than the scenario you described happening.

But, my rights to own a gun shouldn't be dragged down to the maybe behavior of what the lowest/dumbest/most irresponsible/mentally deficient/careless idiot might do.

You can own a bazooka if you want, i don't give a fuck. Just stop acting like more guns makes things more safe because it clearly don't.

I saw this on reddit the the day and for the life of me I can't figure out why the idiot felt that he had to shoot some random animal that was on his property. I could understand it it was a bear, a wolf or something that might actually cause harm to a person, but really a skunk?

For the record I have no issues with guns and I think responsible adults should be able to own them, but this guy is obviously not a responsible gun owner.

The only gun I've ever owned is a .22 rifle when I was a teenager. I don't have any guns, so I'm not a responsible or irresponsible gun owner. I just don't see an issue with responsible owner having them.

Obviously some guy that didn't confirm 100% what his target was before shooting it, is not a "responsible" gun owner and I don't care what the article says. I'm not a gun nut, but I have nothing against them as long as they are handled correctly.

One could kill someone just as easily with a car and we all know there are hundreds of thousands of irresponsible car owners. Yet people don't get all up in arms about taking away others cars because they are not responsible drivers.

People that collect guns and ammo for the a zombie apocalypse or because they think the world will end like 80% of the gun freaks on the internet are probably not responsible gun owners. These are the types that give "responsible" gun owners a bad name. I'd wager a guess and say at the very least 50% of gun owners are not responsible gun owners.

That is what the issue should be, not the guns but who is handling them.

In the meantime those 50% are owning and using guns. Again the ifs and whens. Stop saying that and look at the current situation and how fucked up it is.

people will always love their guns no matter how many times innocent people like this girl get shot.

the whole "should we ban knives too" argument is perhaps the most stupid argument ever made....

i agree... if someone wants to kill someone they will find a way, there is no question about that... so in this scenario you are right, knives and guns are the same.

but how many accidental knife deaths have you heard about? would this guy really have run into his yard with a knife and stabbed a girl he believed was a fucking skunk? how many people would run into schools with a knife and kill a dozen kids before he was stopped? how many kids would find daddy's pocket knife and accidently stab themselves in the head... it just makes no sense

even the fact i agree with doesnt really make 100% sense. If i REALLY wanted to kill someone, i could do it with a knife or a gun, but how many of these nutjobs would go through with it if it invlolved using a knife instead of a gun.. not many. in my experience most gun owners own guns because they are afraid of fighting in any way other than by the use of a gun.

it blows my mind why people are so scared that they must own guns.... but then again i guess it scares me too that so many people own guns!

Most gun incidents probably involve drugs or alcohol. If you really want to address the issue, address the root cause, not the method.

i agree... if someone wants to kill someone they will find a way, there is no question about that... so in this scenario you are right, knives and guns are the same.

but how many accidental knife deaths have you heard about? would this guy really have run into his yard with a knife and stabbed a girl he believed was a fucking skunk? how many people would run into schools with a knife and kill a dozen kids before he was stopped? how many kids would find daddy's pocket knife and accidently stab themselves in the head... it just makes no sense

even the fact i agree with doesnt really make 100% sense.

Education and training is a huge factor and often over looked. You can buy a gun here in Arizona with absolutely no training which I don't agree with.

Guns are dangerous and should be handled with care. If a child gets injured with a gun then who's fault is that? We don't let kids play with fire for the same reason.

the problem is you cant keep tabs on everyone. ex. a guy loses his job a father loses custody a mother gets a divorce and loses custody. people are doing the shootings that have never been in trouble with the law.

Yes sounds very odd. So you got a mother telling her 24 year old son to shoot a "skunk" and neither one could tell exactly what they were really shooting at? I dunno

"ROCHESTER, Pa. -- A woman hosting a Halloween party shined a light for her son to help him shoot what they thought was a skunk but was really his 8-year-old cousin in a black-and-white costume, police said.

The girl, who was hit in the shoulder, arm, back and neck, was hospitalized Monday in critical condition" source

According to Dirty F, taking away his gun will address the root cause.
