Czech Embassy

I'm planning on moving to Prague by the end of the year and I'm working on getting a residential visa. I'm a US citizen and driving to the embassy of the Czech Republic tomorrow to turn in my forms. Any tips for me to speed up the process?

Speed up process?Well i think it would be best to visit this site:
http://alexio.cz/visa_residence_perm..._national.html
they have all the info what you would need. Also, you can be there for 90 days without any visa so that could be some kind of "process speed up" as well.
Also,if you will continue to work for juicyads remote, then you will need to register for tradelicense.

Well i actually know a guy who lived for 3 for years and never bothered to register, once he had to show his passport to cops and he just said how he is tourist and it was fine. But of course it is better to take care of papers if you want have health insurance and other things which might be required.

Thanks for the input, my goal is to get a residential visa and extend it to the point of requesting citizenship so that I can move around and stay if I find a place I really like.

Not stupid. There is some limit of time that you could stay without a visa.

She did not state her intention to stay longer. I'd be looking for a residence card not visa then.

I wish I had the ability to do something like this.... The's the downside of being married and having kids.

Just wondering... Out of all of the places in the world to go, why Czech Republic?

I believe stupid* was the word you were looking for Like I said above, I am applying for a RESIDENTIAL visa (also known as a residence card) which would allow me to stay for a longer period of time. Yes, it would be very easy to just go to Prague and stay there without any papers but that wouldn't help me attain citizenship (which is my long term goal, also stated above). I have done my research, I was just simply asking for advice so thank you for your input.

I visited there and fell in love with Prague. Also thought about Brno, not really a specific reason why the Czech Republic, but its a place to start and I know a few people there so I won't be completely on my own

If I was to move someplace foreign... I would go tropical. Costa Rica comes to mind.

Snow might be cute for us Californians for a few weeks... after that it's a huge pain in the ass.

Looking to get a EU citizenship?

to get a local citizenship, what's required is also the knowledge of actual Czech, that may be one of the most complicated languages to learn for a foreigner, with very few international words, complicated grammar and too many exceptions from its rules.

I would recommend to do your homework very thoroughly before applying for anything and don't voluntarily deal with the local "authorities" unless it's absolutely neccessary.

That shouldn't be problem,as one way or another to get citizenship it would probably take like 10 years of living, which is more then enough time to learn it.(plus when you get new citizenship you need to get rid of old one and that can prolong entire process as well)And i am quite sure how same apply for any other EU country, except Malta where you can buy instant citizenship for 500k usd but that is kind a different story.

For me it would be ideal spring like climate, but dont think such place exist on earth. On winter is toocold, and on summer is toohot, desired weather is only like 3 months duration yearly.Tho thanks to anomalies this winter was quite warm.

I believe the best bet it's getting a permanent resident card, at least that's what i am working on.

lol

you can contact www.foreigners.cz - they also have an office in Prague - they did everything for me for a small fee (in my case $10 to get the permanent residency)

That seems like it may be a neat move! Good luck in all of that!

Keep in mind that its usually pretty cold (and dark!) from November till March http://www.holiday-weather.com/prague/averages/ I´m sure you´re aware of it but if you really live there and you´re coming from Southern California, it might be a bigger deal than it seems right now...

That said, i really love CZ as well! Just had two nights full of unfiltered beer in Plzen - damn thats something like wellness for the liver!
