Today I heard that several international consumer protection departments and agencies are about to team up and go after fake dating sites and dating sites using fake profiles in a very big way. This includes Australia, the UK and USA.

If it happens to your company don't complain there was no warning.

I think you're pretty safe if your terms of service mention that you are not liable for the profiles. Besides that - they also would need to prove YOU setup the fake profiles too, and that would be hard to do sans access to the site's code...

There's also the question of what responsibility you have to adhere the will of any foreign "international consumer protection department".

its a bit different it's about a dating site for ppl who have STD, and their confidential information got shared

what is interesting, that it says it was in the TOS that they were allowed to sue that stuff, and the judge says ppl don't read the TOS

i think a lot of sites counts on ppl not reading the TOS before agreeing to it

Yes, at least in the EU people are not supposed to read the TOS thoroughly and this is taken into account in the legislation. So, the TOS is not some bullet proof vest for the seller. Also in general the service has to match with the image it gives/ what kind of service it is supposed to be. Dating site refers to real people communicating with each other with more or less real intentions to meet, etc. If the dating site is full of just bots and workers whose sole intent is to fake being real users, it doesn't match the definition of a dating site, and is thus a scam.

In simple you can't sell caviar that is actually pig shit, and get away with it mentioning with small print that it is actually pig shit. When you go to the store the customer has to be able to safely assume that caviar is caviar and not pig shit.

My research indicates John Albright from nude dating website nudeweb.com is by far the largest violator allowing the usage of countless copyrighted content images.

I haven't promoted penis pills or adult dating sites, as the first one is total bullshit and the latter for most parts (currently).

The risk for legal issues is quite diminishing, but I don't want to promote bullshit. But back to legal issues, the first part is to prove that you did know about the fake profiles, or at least should have known, etc. This thread is a good place to start investigating that. All hands up who knew about that.

Adult Dating Platform users focused with great ROI for Affiliates exist, and provide charge back lower than nobody else would expect in the industry, but also a retention rate much higher.
Adult dating is not total bullshit, some dating sites provide a real community of like minded people, your users will get what they want.

I don't want what I said above being misinterpreted.

I can't see affiliates of websites being prosecuted or fined for any wrongdoing by a website operator. Notwithstanding any outright fraudulent actions by affiliates. And as a practical matter, most affiliates are "small fish" to warrant a FTC investigation and hearings. They are looking for the "big fish" that can pay large fines.

They are no more likely to be fined than Yahoo! messenger or Skype is ...

All the same ..... I know 100's of people here in LA, and many more folks around the country, and lot's of them are meeting real people on Tinder, CL, and POF. I've never heard ANYONE in my tenure in the adult business tell me they met anyone real on any of the "popular" adult dating sites, EVER.
