FBI stats actually prove that more guns = less crime.

According to the report, while background checks for firearm purchasers hit record levels in 2013 ? 21,093,273 to be exact ? ?violent crimes in 2013 decreased 4.4 percent when compared with 2012 figures, and the estimated number of property crimes decreased 4.1 percent.?

FBI Drops Truth-Bomb on Gun Control Advocates: Firearms Numbers at Record Levels & Violent Crime Decreases

Obviously this is bullshit. We all know guns kill people. Duh!

GFY needs to add a "troll" option to the Prefix drop down.

Yeah... and Canada just issued a study that proves that more Moose in your close environment makes for bigger dicks among the local population.

Since you're a newer member to GFY, I'd like to invite you to gain a little credibility by posting a link to that study as I've done with the link to the FBI's findings.

I'm sure you wouldn't argue facts with bullshit fiction based on personal opinion and an anti-gun agenda.

does that mean that we will have to buy millions of weapons over here to lower our gun death rate that is at the moment like 10% of what it is in the US?

No, it means that people with slanted views from other countries should keep their ignorant opinions out of US politics.

It was irony...
I meant that according to who you ask, people will always find ways to manipulate the numbers the way they want.

That's pretty xenophobic. Perhaps "more guns" might mean less crime in a county that is inundated with the misuse of illegal and legal guns but otherwise, it wouldn't.

You're kinda correct. Implying that the U.S. is "inundated" with the misuse of "legal guns" is a stretch though.

Considering my post is referencing an FBI report, I'd say it's obvious that the thread is in reference to the United States.

Irony? Seemed more like satire to me.

Anyway...I don't see any manipulation of the numbers here. I see statistics posted directly on the FBI's website. Statistics that debunk the current U.S. administrations' claims about gun control.

Can you show me exactly where in the report it discusses background checks?

I don't mean an article written about the report - I mean the report itself. When I look at report itself it doesn't say anything about firearm ownership or background checks.

Nothing specifically stated that the background check numbers were from that individual report. It's comparing the stats to the report issued by the same agency.

However, if you're wanting to confirm the numbers directly from the FBI, you may do so here:

Want to compare the firearms murder rates for states like CA & IL who have some of the toughest gun laws on the books? Yet, when more guns are sold there and concealed carry is legalized, gun crimes go down. Coincidence?

I've said it many times before and I'll say it again....

This is the United States of America. Guns are here to stay. Discussing a fairytale life without them is a waste of time. Discussing more regulations, restrictions and ani-gun laws is also a waste of time and tax dollars. There is no solution that will ever remove them from the public in America. Based on that, the only answer to gun violence is education, training and more law abiding citizens owning/carrying firearms. And THAT is what the FBI's numbers support.

Your post implies the FBI stats prove more guns equals less crime, but the report fails to mention anything about background checks or firearm ownership. You are drawing an imaginary line between the two and accepting it as fact.

On top of this, stats seem to indicate gun ownership is down... Drastically.

I'm not drawing any lines. I shared a story and gave links to the reports that involve it.

Anybody who believes gun ownership is down is a complete fucking moron. Is the "Gun Fairy" picking them and destroying them while you sleep at night?

Gun ownership down....Now I've heard it all!

Instead of buying into what the NY times tells you, trying looking at the stats from the FBI and NSSF.

The article draws the line. The article tells us the FBI report says higher firearm ownership leads to lower crime, but the truth is the report doesn't say anything about firearm ownership at all.

How about Factcheck.org?

Check out what they said:

In 2008, we explored the issue of whether more gun ownership meant more or less gun violence. What we found, and it still holds true, was that some studies had shown a statistical relationship between those factors ? areas with a higher prevalence of guns had higher prevalence of gun homicides and homicides in general. But studies haven?t been able to show a causal relationship ? that the mere presence of guns, as opposed to other factors, caused the higher rates of gun violence.

This just states the obvious, however. Gun crimes will go up where there is more guns.

Show me some stats from fbi.gov about firearm ownership. Not background checks, gun ownership, for the past forty years which we can then compare to stats for violent crime.

This took me 30 seconds on Google.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/10/us...anted=all&_r=0

There were plenty more links to other sites if the NY Times is too lefty looney commie scum for you.
I had never given any thought to gun ownership and a quick search provided me with tons of info that gun ownership is down...

The NRA wants us to believe we need firearms to protect ourselves, but the truth is violent is on a forty year downward trend.

So over the last four decades gun ownership is down, yet gun crimes are up?

A couple years of data doesn't even begin to qualify as a baseline.

I am not talking about background checks, I am talking about gun ownership.

Comparing background checks to gun ownership is like comparing apples to flat chested women. Background checks aren't only for firearm ownership, but also explosives. It even says so on the website you just linked:

The mission of the NICS Section is to enhance national security and public safety by providing the timely and accurate determination of a person?s eligibility to possess firearms and/or explosives in accordance with federal law.

Then you would have to factor in the amount of people who were denied, and the amount of people who passed a background check who never bought a firearm or bought a firearm and then sold it (or had it taken away).

I don't believe that firearms are scary at all. I own multiple assault rifles myself.

Nothing you posted showed any stats.

The stats you're asking me for can be found from the NSSF. Feel free to look them up yourself.

LOL me too. Especially when my initial posts more or less states that the thread is just me trolling.

And gun sales set new records almost every single year.

Gun ownership isn't down. Based on things like distrust for the media and personal privacy, people are less likely to honestly answer questions about gun ownership. This is why "surveys" are useless.

This falls under the category of "things that were covered in the initial article posted in this thread."

Got anything new, factual and relevant to add? I didn't think so....

I call bullshit and challenge you to post proof.

Show me the tax stamp for a single "Assault Rifle" you own.

Since I'm pretty sure you won't be able to post such proof, I'll gladly contact the ATF and notify them that you've publicly stated you own such items.

Until you provide proof of your tax stamps, I'll consider you a liar and/or a person in criminal possession of NFA restricted firearms.

I've asked you about your multiple assault rifles in the state of California before, you must have missed that, I'll ask again, how is it you say you are a law-abiding citizen therefor you don't worry about the police, yet have multiple assault rifles in CA, which is a monster felony?

not trolling, very interested.

I posted... a graph that compared forty years of data from two sources that showed a downward trend of gun ownership....

Then:

The New York Times > Page Not Found
Analysis: Fewer U.S. gun owners own more guns - CNN.com
A minority of Americans own guns, but just how many is unclear | Pew Research Center

How many stats do you need?

I am not pulling any data from NSSF or the NRA, because organizations that profit from gun ownership will always be suspect.

You have yet to show gun ownership is up.

1 will do but you haven't been able to proven even that so far.
