No matter what, McCain was born in Panama. It's a foreign fucking country.

This does not mean McCain does not qualify to be President. McCain is a "Natural-born-citizen" which means he was a US Citizen at birth, and met the legal requirements for U.S. citizenship at birth.

I don't know about your US laws, but pretty much in every other country, you being natural born citizen (in some country) doesn't require you actually being born within the boundaries of that country. If you will born during your parents holiday on somewhere else, you will still be citizen by birth.

US law is more or less, if you have a baby on US soil, no matter where the parents are from, legal or not, that baby is a US citizen. That is why people pour into the USA, usually while pregnant. They play the long game for their families and people. People come from all over the world to have babies in the USA. I personally know a few couples who have done this to take advantage of dual citizenship and a passport that gets them into more countries than their own.

Americans vote in Puerto Rico Federal voting rights in Puerto Rico but they are not full citizens -- only states can send delegates to the Electoral College and elect the President.

The McCain issue seems cut and dry, US servicemen that are citizens of states and registered voters can vote absentee as they are full citizens and their votes count.

I think on "American soil" would only apply to people born here of immigrant parentage of one or both parents. That is Natural born -- on American soil and not naturalized citizens ... Section 8 of the US Constitution gives the Congress powers to enact laws of Naturalization of person to become a Naturalized US citizens so the meaning of natural is apparent.

A child of two US citizens would meet the requirements to become President as to birth until SCOTUS says differently. When the parents of the child are both US citizens, American soil has no bearing.

Yes, it is usual possible to get citizenship for your child by birthplace, but that was not the issue in here. The issue in hand is that some country's citizen (mom) gives birth abroad. Usually the child gets the mom's nationality by birth, and in this case maybe some other country's too, by birth also.
