liberals, how do you explain away Dr. Ben Carson?
so Trump's supporters are angry racist and stupid and that's why Trump is leading the polls.

Because conservatives are so nuts that they actually believe Jesus came to this clown in a dream and gave him the answers to his college chemistry test.

a few quotes from Obama:
From the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony in Washington on Dec. 2, 2011 "More than 2,000 years ago, a child was born to two faithful travelers who could find rest only in a stable, among the cattle and the sheep. But this was not just any child. Christ's birth made the angels rejoice and attracted shepherds and kings from afar. He was a manifestation of God's love for us. "And he grew up to become a leader with a servant's heart who taught us a message as simple as it is powerful: that we should love God, and love our neighbor as ourselves. That teaching has come to encircle the globe. No matter who we are, or where we come from, or how we worship, it's a message that can unite all of us on this holiday season." From an Easter Prayer Breakfast on April 19, 2011 at the White House "I wanted to host this breakfast for a simple reason -- because as busy as we are, as many tasks as pile up, during this season, we are reminded that there's something about the resurrection -- something about the resurrection of our savior, Jesus Christ, that puts everything else in perspective. "We all live in the hustle and bustle of our work. And everybody in this room has weighty responsibilities, from leading churches and denominations, to helping to administer important government programs, to shaping our culture in various ways. And I admit that my plate has been full as well. The inbox keeps on accumulating. "But then comes Holy Week. The triumph of Palm Sunday. The humility of Jesus washing the disciples' feet. His slow march up that hill, and the pain and the scorn and the shame of the cross. And we're reminded that in that moment, he took on the sins of the world -- past, present and future -- and he extended to us that unfathomable gift of grace and salvation through his death and resurrection." From the National Prayer Breakfast on Feb. 3, 2011 "And like all of us, my faith journey has had its twists and turns. It hasn't always been a straight line. I have thanked God for the joys of parenthood and Michelle's willingness to put up with me. In the wake of failures and disappointments I've questioned what God had in store for me and been reminded that God's plans for us may not always match our own short-sighted desires. "And let me tell you, these past two years, they have deepened my faith. The presidency has a funny way of making a person feel the need to pray. Abe Lincoln said, as many of you know, 'I have been driven to my knees many times by the overwhelming conviction that I had no place else to go.'" From an Easter Prayer Breakfast on April 6, 2010 at the White House "For even after the passage of 2,000 years, we can still picture the moment in our mind's eye. The young man from Nazareth marched through Jerusalem; object of scorn and derision and abuse and torture by an empire. The agony of crucifixion amid the cries of thieves. The discovery, just three days later, that would forever alter our world -- that the Son of Man was not to be found in his tomb and that Jesus Christ had risen. "We are awed by the grace he showed even to those who would have killed him. We are thankful for the sacrifice he gave for the sins of humanity. And we glory in the promise of redemption in the resurrection." From the National Prayer Breakfast on Feb. 6, 2009 "I was not raised in a particularly religious household. I had a father who was born a Muslim but became an atheist, grandparents who were non-practicing Methodists and Baptists, and a mother who was skeptical of organized religion, even as she was the kindest, most spiritual person I've ever known. She was the one who taught me as a child to love, and to understand, and to do unto others as I would want done. "I didn't become a Christian until many years later, when I moved to the South Side of Chicago after college. It happened not because of indoctrination or a sudden revelation, but because I spent month after month working with church folks who simply wanted to help neighbors who were down on their luck no matter what they looked like, or where they came from, or who they prayed to. It was on those streets, in those neighborhoods, that I first heard God's spirit beckon me. It was there that I felt called to a higher purpose -- His purpose." |

Then again he was one of the top gunsmiths in the country some decades ago, and still owns over 80 weapons himself, several of which are bonified antiques, all of which are kept in mint condition. He considers himself not so much pro-gun as anti-stupid. Meaning he more than anyone knows that some gun control laws and regulations are smart, while others as well as some being proposed, are moronic and won't work. My conversation with this fellow was quite simply fascinating. The meal itself was fantastic but I barely remember it as I hung on every word from this 70+ yr old retired business owner/sportsman/hunting, fishing & gun expert. I found myself wishing I'd vid-cap'd it. The name Trump, however, did not come up once. Neither did Carson's. Frankly at this point I can't say which way the guy might be leaning. Could be he's a Jeb Busher, but he's also a great lover of women (two self-described wonderful former marriages spanning over 35 years, 4 daughters, 7 or 8 grand-daughters) so Fiorina would not be out of the question, especially since she's a long-time 2nd amendment supporter and gun owner herself. Hey, like it or not it's going to be one of the big issues in this election largely due to the recent mass shootings. Now, this might get some of you wondering what Trump's stance on guns is, as well as others. It certainly got me curious. In case you missed it: Trump's recent comments on gun ownership and his Complete Gun Platform Here. Dr Ben Carson's stance on guns here Jeb Bush pro-gun but not soft on gun-related crime For that matter here is Hillary's stance on guns. Read it, don't read it. But if you're going to knock her (or any candidate really) over the coming umpteen months you best know what you're talking about.

I can't seriously believe that ANY of the candidates both Dem and Repub actually believe any of that religious superstitious nonsense.
All of them are well educated and all of them are older and have seen the world. I know they all claim to have "faith" and "believe" in Sweet Baby Jesus because if they don't say that then the religious nutcases will tear them to shreds. But come on. Does anybody really believe that shit? I mean...even preachers don't REALLY believe it. It's just a way to bring in money in the collection plate so they can hook up later with a male prostitute and do some blow (and hope they don't get caught) lol The only recent politician who I thought wasn't in on the fix and actually BELEIVES is Sarah Palin. When I saw footage of that crazy bitch speaking in tongues, that very second was when I threw out any thought of voting McCain in 2008 and going full steam ahead with Obama. At least Obama is in on the whole "act religious so the masses will accept you" scam. But I think Palin is actually one of the sheep that believe that nonsense. |

And I think that will be his downfall in the end. And if he somehow pulls Trump into that same "abortion" trap...it will take out the Republican candidate in the general election as well. If I were Trump and a reporter started up on me about abortion...I'd look them straight in the eye and say: "What the fuck does abortion have to do with the trouble this country is in. Stop trying to deflect away from the real issues. I don't care about any social issues. That's not what a President does." |

it's odd to me that people think the only reason Carson is tied with Trump is on account of religion, nothing to do with his being a successful doctor, philanthropist and a political outsider.
he talks a lot about personal responsibility. |

I'd say the RR, is very skeptical of Trump and likely doesn't approve of his constant bashing of people, so they are going for the next best guy. Outside of the Relgious pandering Carson seems intelligent and well spoken.. So he will be the Relgious Right's boy.. Trump is the angry white person's boy.. It's easy to see the split in the types of people who support Trump vs Carson.. |

He is a good speaker and sounds intelligent (oh my where have we seen that before) but he very much panders to the Relgious right.. If it weren't for his Relgious agenda he wouldn't be a bad candidate, however the Relgious stuff turns off a lot of people including myself...

my guess is it's simply another group of disenfranchised voters. some like to refer to them as angry and stupid. i think disenfranchised is more appropriate. their eager to vote against the status-quo politicians. i was studying the democratic candidates yesterday, all of the viable ones are thoroughly entrenched (not just career, but entrenched) politicians with 25-35 years in politics. i wonder 1) why isn't there an unentrenched viable democrat candidate and 2) would that person be better received than a republican unentrenched candidate like Trump or Carson. |

crockett likes to use "angry white guys" because then it sounds like it's a bunch of mean spirited rednecks who are just constantly angry at everything in the world.
Reality: It's people who are just tired of being lied to and feeling like they have voted for a candidate who doesn't do anything he/she promised. Doesn't matter if they are white, black, Hispanic, or Asian. People are starting to see that politicians are lying to them and they don't like it. Doesn't mean that they are "angry" people. Angry people would be the black people on the streets protesting cops shooting them to death every other day. That is "angry". Deciding not to vote for the "same old, same old" and send a message to Washington D.C. by using your right to vote is NOT angry. And yes crockett, your racist view that ONLY white people have enough intelligence to finally see through politicians lies is rather disturbing. |

I just think he's putting out there in his own quiet demeanor way that he is THE guy for the religious right. And if you think about it, politically he IS the perfect guy for the religious right. A super intelligent doctor who is thoughtful and softspoken and doesn't give off the "crazy" aura of a Palin or a Santorum. I personally wouldn't want anyone in office talking about their "beliefs" and can't stand it when I hear politicians who ARE in office babbling that children's superstitious crap. I don't know how they can do it with a straight face. And I can just imagine them having a beer afterwards and laughing about it. |

I have said this a few times and still believe it. There is a good amount of the republican party that are conservative Christian evangelicals. they often support candidates that they feel agree with them when it comes to faith and beliefs. Trump has likely gotten support from some of them because they likely agree with his position on immigration or the economy, but they are not sold on him sharing their faith. Carson is the kind of guy who shares their faith so in a place like Iowa where there is a good concentration of evangelicals it is no surprise that they have picked him as the person they support.
It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with religion. |

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas?
Would the Republican Party, the party of Abraham Lincoln, ever nominate a Black man for president? I think that is a long shot. He may end up with a cabinet position in a newly elected Republican administration perhaps. |

They started reporting over and over that he was a womanizer and then Gloria Allred showed up "representing" women who accused him of sexual shenanigans at work. He immediately left the campaign after the "left" pretty much exposed his entire private life and ruined his marriage. Of course, they did not do any of that until he began leading in the polls. And of course all those women accusing him? After he left the campaign that all just magically went away. ![]() No way were they going to allow a black candidate on the Republican side. Not sure if Carson has any baggage. He may be neutered just enough that they can't find anything out on him. But mark my words...if he really becomes a threat...the Democrat Party will begin tearing him to shreds and NOBODY will accuse them of racism. ![]() |

I don't care what color he is, but out of all the Republican candidates which were on the debate, he seemed the most intelligent. In case you forgot all the other candidates were white... It's too bad he caries the religious nut bag baggage or he might be a good choice. |
