I'm hoping so too. Sometimes in this movie he completely reminded me of Gary Shandling. But he was solid in some up-close scenes. He was good in the scene after nux's car crashed.

watched it yesterday and was a bit dissapointed. It was allright but forgettable...
First 15-20 minutes I thought at one point: Where is max? I thought this movie was about him? I am a car guy, but I didn't care much for the chase scenes. Yes it is spectacular at some points but for me all the chase scenes in it they tried too hard with too much going on. Then when max finally gets the focus he plays a supporting part. It wasn't what i expected from a movie called 'mad max'. Plus that guitar guy: Terrible, childish, and it really took me out the movie. Guy is bright red with a brand new shiny speaker wall, and that in a dusty desert where all other people and cars look the part. Except for that one. I thought it was really stupid and a lame gimmick. No Max roaming around alone like in the other movies. The opening shot i was excited, he was standing there alone next to his car, and i was preparing for another legendary mad max movie. Sadly that didnt happen. |

holy shit, this film has a 97% critic rating at rotten tomatoes! and an 88% audience score!
that's one of the highest ratings there! Critics Consensus: With exhilarating action and a surprising amount of narrative heft, Mad Max: Fury Road brings George Miller's post-apocalyptic franchise roaring vigorously back to life. Mad Max: Fury Roadha(2015) - Rotten Tomatoes |

Interstellar was made with the help with Kip Thorne, a real theoretical physicist in gravity and astrophysics. The movie deals with space, relativity, time dilation, wormholes, black holes, and a universe beyond 3 dimensions, all of which are proven scientific facts. Nothing "pseudo" these at all. Inception is a fantastic multilayered mind-bending story with loads of layer and detail. Of course there is the story of Cobb's mission but there is also a deeper story about Cobb and Mal, and of course, the ultimate mind-fuck at the very last second. Both movies are in my top 5 favourite movies of all time. If you get the chance, consider re-watching both of them. If you think that both movies are "pseudo-intellectual drivel", can I ask you what some of your favourite movies are and why? Cheers.

dyna do you have the Interstellar BluRay? I have a player but the only disc I have is: Amazon.com: Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (Deluxe Edition) [Blu-ray]: Jay Oliva: Movies & TV (which is quite good, not very intellectual though :-( )
I saw Interstellar at a true IMAX and it was great, curious how it would be on my dinky 53" LOL.

It's the same with music. According to some people, everyone today should listen to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. They like to shout out how brainwashed other people are. And think their taste in music are the one and only. But they still haven't figured out, that people just have different tastes. And that their taste, is no better than the "brainwashed peoples" taste.

IMO those movies are just crap. I don't like the director at all. Hos movies are much longer than they need to be, have way more action than is necessary (I've tried to explain before, too much action in a movie is just plain boring. The cool thing about action is that the more sparingly it's used, the stronger the effect) and the action scenes go on for way too long. I think his movies are overhyped to get people thinking they are about some deep shit but in reality they are quite the opposite. Interstellar - Really, I don't care of Einstein himself helped with the plot, it is just silly. The gushy emotional father-daughter thing is just cring worthy. We found a wormhole, we can travel through space, we can now answer thousands of questions that have baffled us for centuries, yet the plot is more concerned with a father faughter relationship that wasn't developed in the first place. This movie takes something that would dwarf the Apollo lunar missions and turns it into some ridiculous "Plan A/Plan B" tediousness. I suggest instead watching "Through the Wormhole" with Morgan Freeman or re- watching "2001: A Space Odyssey." Even "Contact" with Jodie Foster is more entertaining and imaginative. haInterstellar is not an intelligent picture, but a pseudo-intelligent one. It seems designed to appeal to the sort of audience who loves to be flattered with cheap shots - a sort of space odyssey version of "who wants to be a millionaire?" Its success resting entirely on the fact that every member of the audience gets to feel intelligent. This technique seems to be trending within the Nolan's filmography. The film is oddly timed with elliptical cuts that compress the action into some often confusing edits, and only leave in lieu of dialog some awful scenes of trite, contrived exposition, filled with emetic pseudo physics, sure to give an immature modern audience raised on Batman a sense that they are building their cultural ego by agreeing with this farce. Worst of all, it feels long and never ending. If you saw "sunshine" and thought "wow, good thing they had scientist advisers, this stuff is so plausible", you will like "interstellar". If you saw "armaggeddon" and thought "what an awesome movie, i just wished they would have dragged the scene where he says goodbye to his daughter out even more", you will like "interstellar". If you saw "inception" and thought "this movie would be so much better in SPACE!", you will like "interstellar". And if you liked "2001" or any other intelligent/geeky sci-fi movie, you will hate "interstellar". Sadly, good science fiction is hard to come by, harder than a good ordinary film even. I don't want to get into Inception, it was a movie with a cool idea that I really wanted to like but turned out to be one big mess. Too long, too many long ridiculous action sequences thrown in for vood measure. Compared to Interstellar though I thought it was at least watchable. In hindsight, it makes perfect sense that Nolan's 'tightest' film is Memento, a dis-cognitive story told from the point of view of a man who is unable to string two events together, or to remember where he started. About my favorite movies. I consider The Godfather to be the greatest movie ever made. My second favorite is Once Upon a Time in the West. My favorite sci movie is Blade Runner (Alien is a close second). The Usual Suspects is in my top 5. Kubrick is perhaps my favorite director, his best film IMO is Paths of Glory. I absolutely loved The Assassination of Jesse James and think a movie like that is truly deep and intelligent, but most people won't like it, and that's fine. Ps: A lot of my comments about Interstellar were taken directly from negative reviews on IMDB. They just reflect exactly how I feel and I coukd have added more. |

I did gave it another try a while ago and could appreciate it more for what it really was: a mediocre but quite entertaining movie, nothing more. Interstellar started promising with the dead wasteland where people were trying to make the best of it, but it became completely retarded when he ended up in the bookcase. It was such a huge anticlimax, like some kind of bad punchline. The most entertaining and best science fiction movie i have seen recently is edge of tomorrow. Loved that movie, a great ride, and it has humor it. Best sci fi of the past couple of years. |

comparing and contrasting interstellar- 2001 space odyssey was way too long too. that movie could be 30 minutes long and cover everything. and there's no real character development in it. nothing there to make me care about Dave, or HAL. there's not even an explanation for why HAL konked out. and the worst thing about it is the silly psychedelic trip ending. and just like interstellar, it plays with spiritual concepts, the benevolent aliens advancing mankind after watching us for 1000s of years. right. nevertheless, enjoyable to watch.
Contact is even more like interstellar with love being portrayed by physics, and, ahem, that story is by carl sagan himself. fun to watch though. |

Contact is a fantastic movie. Yes, it's about a father/daughter relationship but it's sooo much better because it doesn't go out of its way to be an Epic masterpiece. Actually, I think it's just as much about how religion and science can coexist in harmony than it is about love. I don't get the Carl Sagan reference.

carl sagan wrote contact. and my point was 1) it's a sci-fi that embraces love as physics and 2) that is directly from carl sagan. the negative reviews you posted re: interstellar included the one about vomit-worthy pseudo-physics, that has to be about love being the 4th dimension, as done in interstellar. you don't like the pseudo-physics in interstellar but give it a free pass in both Contact and 2001.
the 5th element, another fun sci-fi was about love/physics, that was the 5th element. |

But, I can admit, I haven't watched a lot of movies during the last 5 years or so. Infact. Probably less than 10. Have you seen the Good, the bad, the ugly? What is your opinion of the movie, if you have seen it... ?? I recently watched it. And I think it was a great movie. Was well made and thought out. On another note, I didn't enjoy the first hobbit movie that much. Haven't seen the other two. I think the first Hobbit movie was just so much random scenes, that just seemed to pop up. Some which wasn't even included in the book. Far away as good as the LOTR movies. Which I all enjoyed a lot.
