California Mayor Compares USA to Nazi Germany

California Mayor Forced to Hand Over Electronics and Passwords at Airport, Compares U.S. To Nazi Germany | Zero Hedge

Militarisation of the police is way out of hand upstate, downstate, any state and it's really sad. Quote from Zerohedge: "Just in case you’re still under the infantile illusion that you reside in a free country." For living, I'd chose China or Russia over the USA any day.

I have never understood why americans think they are the land of the free...you literally have more freedom in the 3rd world...

what part is free? I mean how does this freedom manifest itself and what is the difference to say albania or any other country?

Well I can go from one state to another without papers, I own 100 acres of beautiful land that is nobody's but mine, I can drive wherever I want and not get stopped as long as I'm not speeding. I can film the officer with bambuser IF I do get pulled over, I can go right down the gocery store and buy anything I need without encountering a riot. I love my country, not in some crazy nationalistic way but because I am free to do what I want as long as I don't hurt anyone or infringe on their rights.

And yeah you do have more freedom in the third world, to act like lawless animals without no law and order to keep society intact.

and no they are not checking his phone for chinese hacking, who would want to hack anthony silva's phone LOL. I've been to stockton many times and he is as corrupt as they come. The city had the largest bankruptcy in the world until detroit too that crown. There was no reason for him to go to china, he's a public official using state funded computers and phones so yes they can take them from him at any time and check em out. For those of you who don't know he's already embroiled in like 2 other scandals involving no show contracts (like the sopranos lol) and he refuses to reveal his official mayoral emails even though a federal appeals court has ordered he do so. This is not a good guy.

well for one you can openly criticize the government without fear of reprisal. had a chinese mayor (or whatever they call them over there) said this about china, he'd of lost his job. it wasn't long ago a canadian was murdered in an airport in laos for saying something about the president of cambodia. the government claimed he killed himself.. that is not freedom.

The problem isn't American rights or what TSA is doing... The problem is the fucking Mayor of Stockton, California, to attend a "Mayor's conference" in China. Stockton has become horrible nasty place, and instead of taking care of business and doing his job he is fucking off in China on the tax payer's money.

So you went 3 months abroad and you rented a crappy apartment and you conclude that Spain barely has running water?

Forget it, education is something you are immune to

Similar to "Everything is Bigger in Texas."

Mostly because I can travel anywhere I want to without issue and I am free from harassment from the police at all levels. I can own as many cars as I want, open as many businesses as I want, own as many houses as I want. We can even worship whatever god we want too. But best of all we can say whatever we want about our government without fear of Stormtroopers breaking down our doors and hauling us away in the middle of the night.

I always find it amusing how people see things differently. We have an HOA here, and they have the same basic common sense rules all HOAs have. Some people are constantly complaining about the "Nazi rules" the HOA "enforces" and how they can't do this and can't do that. Meanwhile, I've lived here nine years, and never had an issue with them. How is this possible? Same HOA, one person has constant problems yet most of us never have an issue.

You are saying it like it's some kind of godsend, exclusive privilege, when in fact it's the most basic rights.

You can do all of this and more in any decent country.

What makes you think that these kind of things are largely prohibited in other countries? With some minor caveats, you have these kind of freedoms in most other countries but there's obviously a vastly increasing limitation on what basic freedoms you have as a citizen of the USA, regardless of whether or not you reside within its borders. You must be either lacking in worldly wisdom or are somewhat indoctrinated.

Sounds like you sleep in an American Flag duvet every night

I'm not saying it's a godsend or exclusive privilege; And I agree it is a basic human right.

My point is.... We are free to do what we want. No one tells me no unless it's an obvious crime. I hate it when people say we aren't a free nation, or compare us to Nazi Germany. It's just childish.

The argument of freedom aside, make no mistake. That hippo is not harmless. He may keep it well fed so it isn't aggressive, but they are very dangerous animals and it is likely only a matter of time until it hurts someone or something.

he is a good hippo, he is completely tame and likes following people around and wandering about, he sometimes goes over to some farmers houses and eats their lettuce and cabbage, but the hippos owner pays for the damage and has hurt nobody...I feed him with 2-3Kg of apples when I come over, he likes it when I throw them in water and he chases them around while they float

I am pro hippo, the anti hippo crew argue that he may be dangerous but hippos are not aggressive on land, and he has his own water that is gated...he is a she, female hippos are less aggressive but we all call him "nikica" its a male name and refer to him in the male gender, dont know why

he flaps his tail and likes to spray shit around

You have never driven in southern Arizona, obviously. There you will be stopped by federal officers at checkpoints and asked your citizenship and have your vehicle searched if they decide that's what they want to do.

Actually you dead wrong, I live in the southwest after leaving california and have driven along the fences you describe and never been bothered except two times and the officers simply asked for our licenses which is legal since I was driving then sent us on our way. Quit making up things to stir people up.

ok so we got a little off topic, the mayor went to one of the most ruthless communist countries in the world with the worst human rights record second to only North korea, they took his phone and computer upon entry to the US which is perfectly within the law since he is NOT a citizen, he a public official. His rights do not extend as far as a normal person coming home from vacation. Since the property is not his to bitch abotu in the first place I don't see the problem? Unless there is something he is very worried about. Also they are required to release his government property within 24 hours unless they have found something damaging and could pose a threat to national security. Since its been over48 hours I'd say he's in a heap of shit right about now.

You don't know what you're talking about. There are checkpoints north on I-19, north on 286, between Arivaca and Amado, north out of Tombstone, eastbound on 86, on I-10 at Yuma and Las Cruces. Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

and you're point being? You do have to have a legal drivers license to operate a motor vehicle. They are the BORDER PATROL, it is their job to make sure you are there legally, once you show them you are, no problem. Quit trying to stir up trouble when there is none.

My point is that your statement "I can drive wherever I want and not get stopped as long as I'm not speeding" is not true.

I wanted to blast you out of the water for this comment and say "I used to drive in Southern Arizona all the time and never had a problem".

I think you are talking about the border patrol checkpoints. I've seen these, although I think they were in California, not Arizona. However, so long as you had a driver's license these aren't much of an issue.

This where it depends on your point of view. Some people will say "Oh my god these are a huge violation of my rights" where as I see this as my tax dollars at work searching for illegals.

There are border patrol check points north out of Yuma, Arizona, for example. Dogs, automatic weapons. The whole bit.

No doubt, you've never spent more than a week in Dubai and you've probably watched too many news stories on extreme cases or those designed to set an example where stupid foreigners didn't respect the local culture.

Many of these are cultural laws, there to protect a conservative culture but in practice are not strictly enforced. However, Dubai is just a tiny part of the country (UAE) and its mostly foreigners so its not a good example. I've never felt more free than in Dubai and I can assure you, its the same with the over 90% expat population.

Is the UAE as a whole less free than the USA?

It's difficult to argue. In some ways it may be but in other ways definitely not. It depends what is important to you but after living in Dubai, I can tell you that my attention has never been drawn to these things and I've never felt more free than in Dubai. So in terms of what matters, there is plenty of freedom.

He has a point, in 3rd world countries, you are not scrutinised as much by law / gov etc...

Of course there are other problems, however he does have a point.

I agree with him. US alone has attacked more than 50 countries since World War II. Killed millions for oil and trade domination.

i'm sure for the most part these things are never an issue for most but if they decide to make it an issue for you there can be problems. i've always felt pretty free everywhere i've gone but it doesn't mean i actually was. i just didn't run into incidents that might of gotten me in trouble in one country but not in others.
