The review is supposed to be a review of the product, not of the service.

A larger problem is the reviews are now a mix-mash of product reviews, Amazon specific reviews, individual merchant reviews, random brick-and-mortar business reviews, and even warranty reviews. All of these things completely skew the review process and make for a pretty ridiculous set up. I'm surprised they have not picked up on this issue yet and found a remedy.

From a merchants standpoint, it's an absolute disaster. I used to sell high ticket items on Amazon and half of my reviews were bad because the buyer did not like their experience with the vendor they purchased from, who typically had absolutely nothing to do with Amazon or me.

The question I have is this. Let's say Amazon wins the lawsuit against the bogus reviews. I purchased a product from Amazon based on reviews. I'm not happy with the product, can I send it back for a full refund since I was tricked into purchasing it in the first place? Will the consumer have no retribution for this shady activity?

I see shit on Fiverr all the time about people leaving fake reviews and feedback. I think it's bullshit and seriously should be illegal. Any way you slice it, it's fraud. And since you used a computer to commit the fraud, it's a Federal crime. I've been doing things legit since I started selling shit online, and when I see people cheating, it really pisses me off.

I think initially, they were reviewing the product, not the vendor who sells/sold it.
ebay does the same. You can write a review on a product. But that has no bearing on those that are selling it.
If you "MADE" a competing product, you could send out the miss-informers to bash the competition through reviews.

I hope they include a filterable option for anyone to add a satirical review as they can make the site interesting, like the flag pants review. If you haven't see it, look at the reviews for "How to Avoid Huge Ships" on Amazon.

Not sure. I know voltage pictures which is a united states company, was able to get customer info from a Canadian isp in regards to copyright infringement lawsuits they wanted to file. I guess it will depend on the specific laws in whatever country fiverr is based out of. Since they have been cooperating with amazon in the past by removing fake review listings on their site, it wouldn't surprise me if they decide to cooperate further.

Now i see products are being held in what Amazon call processing (packing) for up to 5 days to allow them to send stuff out ground UPS and supposedly arrive within the stipulated two day guaranteed time. Don't get me wrong i like Amazon but the lies they perpetrate to make a dime are stacking high!
