Question for Producers and Shooters
Its been proposed to me that shooters and producers normally accept a lower rate for their work than the models they are shooting. Is this industry standard? It is news to me.
I am asking, for example, if you pay a model to do a hardcore scene for $800 you would accept say 20-30% less that fee for your work to hand over 100% unique content. So you would deliver a scene for say, $1200 or $1300 plus location and male talent costs. Please post your experience on this. This is for guys who shoot regularly as "guns for hire". The numbers above are just examples. Thank you in advance. |

yes, people buy content
and yes, there seem to be shooters that are happy when they make $50 or $100 at the end of the day considering the prices i hear or get offered sometimes i call our prices reasonable, we deliver good work, we expect to earn money as well.

I've seen the offers where people want homemade content tagged on the end of someone else shoots as well. I guess there are some shooters willing to work for blowjobs. |

A good producer that delivers constantly quality content will have a set price. Clients always want things cheaper by either asking for girls that book themselves or offer a lower rate on twitter. This is a producers nightmare.. If the girl doesn't show up cause she does not have an agent, who is going to pay kill fees?
A lot of the time a client will get ripped off by a shitty producer and then ask a good one for a discount. That make me laugh, I am not in the biz to fix mistakes, I am to produce quality content the first time. If it is worth shooting it is worth shooting it well.

The problem is keeping people producing consistently good work, from programming, design, marketing, product, when other industries pay far more.

From my limited experience, yes, it seems like the female model is making the most of all the individuals on set

The biggest issue any one faces is the ROI. For the shooter and the purchaser.
I have seen an ass ton of content out there that the ROI is just not there. Hence the reason sooo many people will buy non exclusive. IF you can not tie sufficient sales to a particular set then its not worth it in their eyes. Then the question comes in to play: If the Set gets the sales, does the member rebill because, A. He liked the other expensive sets of this particular model as well as others? B. He forgot to cancel. etc.

It depends on so many factors and can't be generalized. As pornguy said, the return on investment is what counts. For some people it's payment for time, for others it's the optimum they can squeeze out of a deal. And for others it's just a cheque to pay for next month's rent.
From what I know shooters at Playboy, Hustler and Penthouse always make a lot less money than the models. There are a lot of other examples in entertainment biz where more or less popular protagonists make a lot more green than the risk takers who make things happen.

James Deen gets $1200 per scene and Im lucky if I get him. He books out fast and a month out. He brings a special style I need for a particular project that my bosses are happy to pay his rate for. And Manual Ferarra get $1500 per scene and that is if chooses to work for you. Me?? I get a set amount that Im happy with and what I see is fair to do what I like. Especially if the company gives me the budget for the high end guys. My philosophy is simple: I don't care how good the girl is, if the guy sucks or is sub par, your scene will suck or not be what it could be. Good guys drive the scene in my opinion. Just Dave

The only reason for exclusive is, it's Micro niche, or the affiliates need it to get accepted by Tubes and before that TGP sites.
With a good chunk of content producers the theory that it will become saturated for the people paying for the industry. Is absurd. Non exclusive allows studio to constantly update with better content and 1/10th the price. The problem was people buying on price the same chunk of work and not updating. The result was people shooting 5 solo girl scenes for $300 a piece. Pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Relate this to other industries where a worker, of no real skills, earns more than the boss or the company. |

No...not in my experience.
I always make way more than models. Sad if shooters are stooping to making peanuts and handing over 100 percent exclusive rights. Sets a very bad precedent for the rest of us. |

I can name a few who took this route. Most were great shooters, just happier with a 9-5. |

and for the 15 plus years I was involved with shoots for those magazines (photog and director) we made about 3x or more what the model was paid, hour for hour. I was glad to see you back Paul...except you nearly always saying the opposite of truth |

I think Dean Capture spilled this secret awhile ago. I trust what he said. Anyhow, are you seriously saying shooters get more than celebs who strip for 6 digits? I doubt it. It's just not credible.
