I agree, the wall isn't one of his best ideas... it would never happen anyway, because of both political and practical reasons... but it shows where he stands on the immigration issue... his opponents on the other hand, say politically correct bs and try to appeal to both sides...

imagine there is no minimum wage and little or no "overhead" (i.e. mandatory health insurance)... what point would there be in hiring illegal immigrants? Why would anyone risk fines, etc and do that? by creating high minimum wage and other laws that increase your labor costs you make it worthwhile for employers to hire illegal immigrants... why pay $15/hr, when you can hire illegal immigrant for $10/hr?

It probably would be somewhat effective, but I'm not sure I like that plan... it just feels wrong to fine employers for doing what is best, hiring cheaper and more productive workers... doesn't it feel a bit lame to fine employers for hiring Jose who will pick 20 boxes of oranges for $100/day over Mike who will pick 10 boxes of oranges for $200/day? it's kinda like dangling a "forbidden fruit" in front of employers, then fining them for eating it...

Then why come up with the idea? He's setting himself up for ridicule, which isn't media bias. It's the truth.

What illegal migrant is going to the police to complain he's noty being paid the legal wage? You're setting yourself up for ridicule.

It would be far more effective and cheaper. He was asked this question and ignored it.

no it's better to employ Mike, take him off benefits and he spends his wages in the US rather than sends them back to Mexico. It's not good for the Farmer employing Mike, but that's why migration has been allowed for so long. You're setting yourself up for ridicule.

If you think hiring the cheapest worker is best. Then you have to love the model that worked in Russia, France, Cuba and other places. Until the poor picked up a gun . Americans have a lot of guns and if you think there's a point at which cutting wages to a minimum stops. You're setting yourself up for ridicule.

The best economy for everyone is where wealth is created and trickles down. Not one where wealth is created at the expense of customers income. Unless the wealthy lend the not so well off the money to buy the goods.

Then the Lenders, Banks, hold the customers balls in a vice like grip. Leaving people like Trump with no chance of pulling off any of his plans. I assume you know how the Bond Markets work.

Paul you are so fucking stupid to keep talking about stuff you don't know anything about.
A tub of oranges is fucking HUGE and takes a machine called a "goat" to lift and dump into the bed of a semi-trailer.
Fucking idiot...

My whole point was that the Mexican people are some of the hardest working people in the world. And the ones working in fruit and vegetable harvesting make a lot of money and don't need or want any govt. assistance.
The U.S. Congress (which passed a bill to build a wall in 2006 already) and Trump are wrong about wanting to build a wall.

The ONLY real problem we have with the Mexican border is the failed "War On Drugs" that is bringing violence. It's the federal govt.'s own fault for trying to control people's lives.

If the govt. would get back to just governing and not trying to RULE over us...a lot of the "problems" they create would no longer exist.

So if the tub is so big, how many kilos does it hold. So we can judge how many oranges they have to pack into it. I suspect your estimate was exaggerated and pointed out some maths.

So would you like the Government to stop ruling on monopolies, Net Neutrality, food content, migration, online fraud, copyright, etc? And obviously employing illegal migrants, or even just not governing who and who can't come into the US?

Governing is ruling. And it's what keeps a country together.

Agree. The problem is the people voters vote for. Both sides know that have the voters in control. That's why they get the funding. Koch Brothers and the Banks don't contribute billions on people who have no control

So if you want to see change there's only one course. Stop voting for people like Clinton, Bush, Cruz, Romney and start voting for people similar to Obama and Sanders. In all the elections.

The UK has local elections coming up soon. It's predicted UKIP will do well. They did well in the last General Election, but only won one seat, came second in a lot. In the EU elections, they did very well. This voting forced the Tories to have a renegotiation with the EU and a referendum.

Voting for the outsides scares the daylights out of the incumbents.

Robbie and I won't argue with you about magic join pages if you don't argue with Floridians about how oranges are harvested.

You're an idiot. I already told you that my grandfather's and fathers business was citrus.
Once again you are arguing some stupid ass point that has nothing to do with what I was saying and you're arguing with someone who grew up in that industry.

How fucking dumb can you be?

This is for moron Paul Markham...now he will know how many bathrooms that Manwin has:

"The pickers dump the fruit into plastic tubs that hold approximately 900 pounds of oranges. A special truck, called a "goat", will then come through the grove and, using a hydraulic boom, pick up the tub and dump it into the back of the goat into a special body. Most mechanically harvested fruit is harvested directly into a goat. The goat then goes outside the block of trees and the body raises up and dumps it's load of oranges into a large open tractor-trailer that holds about 45,000 pounds of oranges. A truck-tractor then hauls the trailer to the processing plant. "

Now do you think I exaggerated you fucking idiot?

Stop your inane and senseless posting. Nobody here gives a fuck about how many oranges are in a tub. That was never the point I was making or the point of this thread.

Now go back to your first post on how much they earn. How many tubs at $3 a tub does a single picker pick. To earn the amount you quoted?

Just to clear your confusion and lack of understanding. I never disputed the size of the tubs. Just the amount of oranges a single person has to pick to get a check for $1,000 every week.

Those Mexicans must move like superman or someone is bullshitting about the amount on the checks. Unless it was for ten people working as a team.

900 pounds of oranges @ $3 a tub needs 333 tubs a week or 299,700 pounds a week. Now work out how many pounds an hour that is.

No wonder so many support Trump!!!

Paul, please shut the fuck up about things you don't understand. Nobody is "exaggerating" (which means you are calling me a liar). And nobody in this thread gives a fuck about the size of the tub.

You are showing once again why you became shunned by the entire industry. Acting stupid and pretending you have the capability to make pronouncements on things you know NOTHING about.

There is a very good reason that Mexican workers kick so much ass at agriculture. Trying to explain it to you is a waste of time.

There is a very good reason that Mexican workers kick so much ass at agriculture. Trying to explain it to you is a waste of time.
So was it a single Mexican earning a $1,000 a week or a group of them?

I'm not acting stupid. I'm doing the maths and showing your claim proves how great Mexicans are. Help us out and tell us how many oranges to the pound.

900 pounds at 3 oranges a pound = 2,700 oranges. working 24 hours in a day that's 112 oranges an hour or 2 a minute. No American can compete with that.

You're right though. I could never understand how anyone can work like that.

Explain to us all how they do it.

Personally, I think migrants sending money home is wrong. They have made their choice to make a new home and should do that. Illegals migrants most certainly shouldn't be allowed to transfer money overseas. ID, A Passport, is essential, it should be logged on a database so anyone sending large amounts comes up on the system.

Also, no farmworkers should be allowed in. In fact, no one with a skills set lower than a nurse should be allowed to migrate unless they bring wealth with them. My Brother migrated to America 40 years ago and now a US citizen, my parents 32 years ago and took wealth with them. I migrated to Czech and took wealth and my company with me.

There's a very simple way to curb illegal migration. Heavy fines on the employers. Trump fining employers illegal immigrants. The problem is he avoided answering this question. So we don't know his position.

I agree 100% with his soundbite on bringing jobs back to America. He's spot on that China, India, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc. Are getting richer, and not by rice exports. They're getting richer from getting manufacturing and selling to the West. Bring those jobs back.

And suck on the fact that goods will cost more to give fellow countrymen a job at a decent wage.

The cost of oranges and OJ will skyrocket.

The likelihood of Robbie ever admitting he is wrong about anything is the same as Trump admitting his a bigot.

Don't call trump a bigot because of he wants to stop the flow of money to mexico from illegals........come on, be realistic. The democratic party's main goal is to get as many illegals into this country and get them allowed to vote, this is the only way they will win the election. Obama won because he was black and he drew a HUGE number of voters from urban areas that never voted before in their life. That won't happen this time with hillary or bernie. I personally want bernie to win and I will vote for him even though I'm a republican.

Trump is right on one thing, we should have a wall, not necessarily a physical wall but a virtual wall patrolled with drones and US troops who can double that duty as training before they are deployed somewhere. It has to stop robbie, there are too many illegal immigrants in this country and they are breaking the system. I personally saw an illegal with no valid id, no insurance get taken to the hospital because she was delivering a baby, I was waiting in the ER waiting room for my dad. Now who is going to pay for that? Are you volunteering to cover the 100k it's going to cost for her to have the baby and then after care and food stamps she'll get now. Not to mention when the child is old enough he will go to public school never having had his parents pay a bit of tax most likely.

Why can't you see that this needs to stop?

Oh and yes stopping WU payments and online payments to mexico will make a huge impact on the amount leaving the country, the same goes for moneygram. They must provide a valid legal ID or they can't send the money, easy fix. If you think once those holes are plugged it will still be easy with a closed off border you are deluding yourself. We don't need to stop it all just half would be a good start.

I see your point. BUT...I don't think the govt. should have the power to tell people what they can and can't do with their own money.

I don't think the govt. was ever intended by the founding fathers to have any reach into our personal lives, but over the years it has grown to the point where the Federal Govt. affects almost EVERY aspect of our lives.

That's just the way I see it. The reason for the constitution of the United States is to LIMIT the Federal Govt.

If people think the govt. should not be limited by that document...then we as a nation should vote to eliminate it and completely re-write it.

I mean...where does it end? The govt. can decide what you can and can't put in your body (I can't imagine what George Washington would make of that). The govt. forces you to buy health insurance at outrageous prices. The govt. in all forms (local, state, property tax, sales tax, and federal) taxes us at over 50% of the money we make.
The list goes on and on.

I know I'm just ranting, but it does seem to me that it's out of control.

I DO think Trump can revive the economy. I just don't agree with creating another Soviet Union style "Berlin Wall" on the border of the United States.
That's just my personal opinion.

I'm not saying that I and I alone am correct like the faux-liberals on GFY with their matter-of-fact pronouncements and "settled science" bullshit. lol
I'm just giving my own point of view.

While I agree illegals sending money home should be stopped and it would be easy to do, I think people who are here legally and who obtain their money legally should be allowed to do whatever they want with it. If that means sending it to people in another country so be it.

The problem is it's a soundbite that only appeals to the stupid. What's to stop an illegal migrant giving the money to a legal one and him transferring the money?

Unless the Government employs people to monitor transactions.

The problem has to be tackled at source, employers providing jobs.

You don't like the Government telling anyone what to do. Except when it's in your benefit.

You have a very strange POV. If the Government didn't control what was put into your body, companies would be allowed to sell you anything.

Trump will bankrupt the US. He will most certainly put up prices in shops, so the general public will be buying less.

The reason health insurance is so expensive has nothing to do with government. Big business has rigged the US system to the benefit of shareholders. Bring down those prices and your insurance drops. Have a Government run Health Service and prices will plummet.

Maybe get Government off the Internet so Net Neutrality becomes a thing of the past. Then see how you like being cared for by big business. And can give you a huge list of where we ned more Government protection from big business, but you wouldn't agree.

So your suggestion is to shut down money transfers unless you are a citizen? So what if I am from France and I happen to be vacationing in the US and there is an emergency back home and they need cash? I can't send it to them now because I am not a citizen. What if I have a green card and am working in the US legally and a family member needs some cash? I can't send that to them?

It's my money. I earned it legally. I should be allowed to do with it as I please.

Just to be clear, big business has manipulated the government into creating an environment that makes it easy and legal for them jack up the cost of healthcare. Big business is the root of the problem, but the government has played a major role in it as well.

No mu suggestion is to forget about trying to stop migration by limiting the ways to transfer money.

Fine employers, so much they dare not employ illegals and give the money to enforcement agencies, so they can employ more to catch more.

Raise the bar on migrants to a level that means only essential people can migrate in. with exclusions for nurses, until enough are trained in the West to fill demand. They have to have a job to go to that an American can't do, a home, earn enough to pay the average amount of income tax, care for their family and pay for medical insurance.

This will mean a NY taxi driver will speak English.
