I bet Trump's foreign policy speech got Democrats a little worried today

Trump with a solid foreign policy speech today, off a teleprompter, delivered like a ...... um .. president. Now he has the nomination sewn up, they're bringing in the pros to begin shaping the campaign. He's smart enough to know that what won him the GOP race won't win in a general election. Now he has to find the balance, so he doesn't disillusion those who filled all those arenas cheering for the billionaire in the red baseball cap.

If this is a facetious post.... then brilliant.

Trump said, as always...close to nothing of any substance or fact. So the man has one speech without insulting anyone and all of a sudden he's presidential?

God Emperor Trump should dump the Teleprompter and speak like he always does. Who does that presidential speak impress anyway? What's the purpose?

Speaking with better sentence structure than 5th grader is an admirable quality and is an indicator of intelligence.

and you don't understand politics nor psychology. the speech today was easy for the average person to understand, it was Reaganesque. He strongly came out against globalism defending the nation state, he came out against US foreign aggression and nation building, and in every dealing that 'America comes first'. That's a message people want to believe in.

No different than Obama's Hope and Change theme, Hillary Clinton has no theme. Obama ran circles around her and if Trump can reign his id in he will do the same to her.

Trump fails to impress foreign-policy experts - A speech aimed at boosting his credibility got low marks from across the spectrum.

Trump?s speech received a failing grade for coherence and drew snickering and scorn from foreign policy insiders who remain unconvinced that Trump is up to the job.

?It struck me as a very odd mishmash,? said Doug Bandow, a foreign policy scholar at the libertarian Cato Institute, who shares many of Trump?s beliefs about scaling back America?s role abroad. ?He called for a new foreign policy strategy, but you don?t really get the sense he gave one.?

Trump?s speech was ?lacking in policy prescriptions,? and its ?strident rhetoric masked a lack of depth,? said Robert ?Bud? McFarlane, a former national security adviser to President Ronald Reagan who attended the speech.

Do you have a link to the speech?

The US needs to stop thinking it has the right to impose their choice of Government on a foreign country. This led to the decades of isolation and problems for the US that Cuba's isolation posed. Along with the ME. If the US had not interfered there would be no Israel and no ME problems of this scale. Especially involving the West.

Signing trade deals with China and other Third World countries has cost the West more than anything. Empires are built on trade to the benefit of the countries who control the trade. It has only taken China 40 to go from starving to being #2 in the world. And on it's way to the #1 spot.

Trump won't change any of that without a lot of politicians agreeing to vote with him. Sadly like Obama, Americans will vote for a lot of opposing politicians because the money will flow to them, from the people who profit from war and cheap imports, and Americans are short sighted.

Europe has a very simialr problem with the EU. It's set up to benefit only the top 5%.

true gotta love those idiots taking about substance while their corrupt career politicians of choice are the biggest bullshitters in history. It's a fact that every single one of them is saying completely different things than what their real policies turn out to be.

But somehow these zombie voters lose their memory every 4 years. Idiocracy.

I never said I don't understand what he is saying. I'm just not responding to his hollow, empty tough talk. And that fucking wall....we're going to spend billions of dollars for a problem that doesn't exist (at least in the magnitude he describes)?

But I could see how you guys who think with your lizard brains are all up his ass. He's speaking your language. The language of an idiot who doesn't appreciate someone who actually thinks before he speaks instead of just rattling off whatever he thinks will get him elected by the large percentage of idiots in our country. But I'm talking about concepts you guys couldn't grasp because you are those mouth breathers I just mentioned.

A bunch of hate from a group of DC political hacks that will be out of business in less than 200 days when Trump takes office.

Doug Bandow is going to be working as a bar back at Applebees. No wonder he is upset.

1 minute in; American People and Security First, What does that mean? America was aided by the Russians and Brits to beat the Germans and Japanese. The biggest mistake was in creating Israel, then arming Afghans to fight Russians.

4;30 minutes in; Trade, spot on. We have to accept that importing cheap goods to boost a consumer based economy comes with the loss of jobs and lower wages for the 90%. But there is little money saved. So no spin off to more funds to build the Armed Forces. Westerners will be buying less and paying 2-5 times the prices in shops. The poor will win as jobs flow back.

4;30 minutes in; Allies spending, does this mean NATO going to war when the US demands? The Iran Statement is not his to make. He's interfering in another countries Government as if he has that right to. This is what gets America into the mess it's in. What will he do if he thinks Iran has WMDs?

6;30 minutes in; Israel/Iran, who has WMDs? Who would sink if not subsidised by the US?

10 minutes in; Respect, has to be earned. Trump will find the respect he's given will be worse than Obama's.

It gets worse as he goes on. What is clear is prices and taxes will rise. If he gets his way.

He's delusional and lives in a dream world where everyone agrees with him or simply does as they're told to. He has no concept of how the world outside his tiny sphere thinks and expects them to fall into line.

He can't denounce US interference overseas which has created the mess, then start to tell how he will interfere further. Then expect respect for making everything worse. Bombing ISIS will kill 100,000 of Muslims and convert 10,000 to radical Islam. He can't destroy China's economy, then use that destruction as a negotiating ploy with how China supports NK. NATO was created to combat Soviet Russia, not look after America's interest in the ME or Asia. He can't eliminate terrorist from hitting US targets.

I gave up after 30 minutes. He's got some good ideas about trade and migration. His voters don't understand the consequences of his action on those issues. A tablet made in the US will be so expensive it will be a luxury item. clothing will skyrocket in price. This will go throughout everything you buy. Open the bonnet of a US manufactured car and see where the parts are made.

Food will escalate in price as Mexicans aren't allowed in and it will be up to farmers to employ Americans to pick and box it. This will also run through the system, taxis' bus boys and everyone else will want more money. Even the guys who mow your lawn will raise prices. The unemployed level will shrink as new factories open up, forcing up the wages for low-skilled jobs.

Will you pay more for Trump to get his wishes?

I believe in that message, along with let people with ovaries make the decisions about abortion, hold foreign governments accountable for the welfare of their people, poverty is the factory default set in the world, with fear, humiliation, dirty water and early death the normal conditions of the world.

I like how he pitches "America First" and that we aren't going to foot the bill and then uses two examples, WWII and the Cold War where we footed the bill for a lot of countries to defend them. And guess what? Remember WWIII? Nope, our foreign policy is working pretty well since it is designed to avoid WWIII which he would be making the way for. ISIS is an annoyance compared to the NAZIs or the USSR. Idiot, low information magnet.

this is interesting insight, that we are not in a world war 3. i beg to differ...

we have been at world war since 1998, when osama declared war on USA & clinton yawned whilst engaging in an oval office BJ with the chesty intern. since 98 al qaeda has attacked not only the USA, but numerous other countries in the following years. They hit USA hard enough in 2001 to make us fight back. Bush bungled the whole fucking thing, from tora bora to the greatest foreign policy blunder in US history. Obama, like you, does not perceive this world war, & surrendered. Since then, the late 90s is repeating itself, only in a larger, more dangerous quasi-state, whom has also attacked western culture in numerous countries.

im not sure what its gonna take to get you dumbass leftists to understand that our enemy continuously works to defeat us, even if they are still barbarians. Those dead-enders will win the whole fucking war should they acquire a nuke. just blowing 1 will change world stability forever.

we're in WW3, pal. & we are losing because the whole leftist ideology denies a threat exists. europe, USA, get attacked, & we drop a few bombs to retaliate. obviously only a nuke going off in NYC will set your head straight. wake the fuck up.

You know what.... I never thought of this way but you are right.

Sixty years after the of WW2 we haven't had another world war. So things might be looking up.

We surely aren't in a world war. During WW2 over sixty million people died. In both Afghanistan and Iraq combined since 2001, we've lost 6,878 men. (iCasualties: Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom Casualties) We currently have 10k in Afghanistan and 4k in Iraq, but these are mostly for security. While 10k US troops in Afghanistan sounds like a huge number, keep in mind the US has 28k troops in South Korea, and 53k in Germany. (And oddly enough, 8k in Italy!)

We technically aren't even fighting any where. Yeah, we have troops in Afghanistan but they are mostly defensive, Iraq seems to be quiet, and we are bombing ISIS on a daily basis, but that's you couldn't call any of this a "war".

actually, USA foreign policy has all been about containing Communism since world war 2. thus the Cold War. the fact that we won the Cold War (USSR collapsed) has turned our foreign policy upside down, causing the increase in enemies such as ISIS. second to the goal of containing communism would be securing the globe and Trade.

you're a fool. Nowadays drones and satellites is why the number of soldiers in ground war is low compared to the 2nd world war. The scope of this "non-war" is fucking huge and it is constantly ongoing since the invasion in iraq in 2003. Its now 2016 - 13 years later - and the islam extremists from the destructed middle east have never been more active in the western world as right now. But you don't think this is a war.

Tell that to the families of the killed soldiers AND civilians over these 13 years. Don't think they will agree with you. I don't think anyone with half a brain will agree with you.

I disagree. It's not like we have hundreds of drones in Iraq; If at all we might have a dozen. Planes and boots the ground still do the heavy lifting.

I don't believe this is a "constantly ongoing war". The United States lost six lives in Iraq in 2015. Out of those six, four of them were listed at "non hostile" - That means they had a car accident or a heart attack.

Please trust me when I tell you I am disappointed any time the United States sends it's military into action. I understand more than most the losses suffered by military families. My father died in Vietnam when I was nine months old.

The guy is a less-on.. I can't even call.him a moron because morons have more brains.. lol this was the speech Democrats were supposed to be scared about..

Democrats should be more scared of people being g disenfranchised from them as a result of their fucking over Sanders at every step in order to hand the nomination to Hillary.

Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed that Sanders didn't fight them every step of the way.

The fact that you would compare 1998 until now to WWIII givew you no credibility. And then you follow it up with an insult (dumbass) very academic there Hass.

And you don't equate containing communism and not allowing the cold war to get hot as avoiding WWIII? Are you serious?

If you were trying to point to containment as the overarching point of foreign policy, you would have said that, not that the point was to avoid ww3, which is entirely wrong. 24 hour continuous b52 mission with nuclear weapons is not a deterrent to ww3, in fact, it's quite the opposite. That's just 1 small example illustrating our foreign policy since ww2 has never been about stopping ww3.

Trump has been brilliant to get where he has gotten when he started in a pack of 17 contenders, if you don't think that is brilliant, you are one of those mouth breathers!

There was nothing in my post that was meant to be in relation with WW1 timing and reasons for it.
Besides the icon before that "simple laugh" icon that suggests it was an obviously not a serious remark.

You dems are useless for national defense. all your good for is ignoring festering threats, getting innocents in paris, san bernadino killed. no war going on! i guess we can bring those troops home. nothing will happen...right? answer that honest, you lose. but you dont even know what war is so whatever. but obama just sent more troops to syria, to pass out candy to civilians or something.

Oh isn't this ironic. Tools like you couldn't stop blaming Obama for everything under the sun, the moment he stepped in office.

Now big suprise, you are making up excuses as to why Trump won't be at fault for anything if he were to be elected and still trying to figure out ways to blame Obama.

You guys crack me up..

Hm you missed it. My post was a classic dutch joke.

Example:
When talking about WW2 and then you say what i said: 'my grandpa died during the war!'

*pause* *wait for everyone to think he was killed by the nazis*

... He fell off his watch tower. *Badum TSSSS*

Meaning he was a nazi himself working the watch towers of a concentration camp. I never explain jokes but i thought i'd make an exception.
