Fuck you one drive.
Backing up all my content on Onedrive, so far 460GB has gone up in zipped files. Problem arrives when downloading. I can only download one file at a time, with 1,000s of files that's fucked up.
The problem is after downloading, unzipping is the problem. One at a time is hit and miss, downloading a whole sub-folder containing lots of zipped files, only one unzips. Anyone else had this problem and found a solution? |

If you need to send to someone Paul you'll just have to let them download the onedrive app and sign in using your credentials (it'll sync everything to their computer), not the best solution but it'll work.
This is based on my Google drive and dropbox experience. I don't really understand your problem otherwise. CF, media storage is cheap but I think this is for Paul when he gets a purchase on his content. I've sent stuff half way around the world. I had a guy in New Zealand buy hard drives of porn off of me (he only got 10 GB of bandwidth a month) and it cost me $50-60 to ship the hdd to him. |

again, shipping and going to the post office.
Paul probably gets orders here and there but no where near enough to justify a server and transferring the files onto a external hdd is a pain in the ass every time and he doesn't have to worry about the shipping costs and where the hell he is shipping to. This is why he's going through the pain of one drive. Edit: Maybe Paul is just trying to back up his files but I'm making my statements based on a Skype conversation I had with him last year about loading files onto one drive so he can give purchasers access. |

No restrictions on upload or download. Edit: Then again, getting the old man to even work out setting up a server is probably hopeless. |

Synology NAS. 216j is the newest if I remember well for 2 drive home/small office reasons. super cheap, fast, and quiet. You can add 2 8TB drives and can forget aboyt backups for a lifetime.

The backup si for me, should GHard Drives crash. The most important part is as Jhonny points out. It allows me to move a lot of files into one folder and sell blowouts.

Alternatively a 4 Bay NAS and an offsite 1TB USB HDD will provide ample protection. |

For long term RELIABLE backup I'd recommend an SSD drive like this 1 Terabyte drive for $314. No spinning disk, its solid state technology

Paul: get a small server somewhere, like AdultKing suggested, and then spend $30 on a little tool called GoodSync.

It doesn't make sense to pay $9.99 a month for OneDrive.
Just go with the hard drivers. Here is a 4tb external HD for $124. Amazon.com: Seagate Backup Plus 4TB Portable External Hard Drive with 200GB of Cloud Storage USB 3.0 (Black) STDR4000100: Computers & Accessories

The point of having OneDrive is for backing up, should any of the external hardrives go down, so don't need to buy more of them. And to do blowouts, something that I still do on a regular basis.
I want to be able to store everything on one server that customers can get a secure password to and download one time. Maybe the isn't the best solution. In my lack of knowledge of how the Internet, programming, Servers work. I chose a system like OneDrive, I assumed such a popular service would be idiot proof. My experience makes me wonder how they're still in business. In defence of my lack of knowledge of how the online technical side works. This is the porn business and I do know that side. |

I think backing up on OneDrive was actually a good idea. These services have better reliability than an USB HDD or a VPS with large storage.
The best is of course a backup USB hard drive, plus a cloud service. I don't use OneDrive, but you could try this too Paul: https://www.thurrott.com/cloud/micro...-file-explorer |

Copy the content to a 1TB SATA 6.0
fed-ex (ship express) the SATA to the data center Have them copy the SATA to one of their servers with RAID Cost you maybe $150? The datacenter can mail you back the drive. Maybe you can do this in Germany or nearby and hand deliver the drive yourself. That is when time is worth more than money to you. You would have the server bill to deal with so it is an ROI thing too. Multiple backups and a distribution server with RAID; this costs less, in real terms, today than 5 maintained file cabinets did in 1966 ![]() |

a lot of a wankers posting nasty shit in this thread to Paul, it makes me wonder if they speak like that face to face to people
![]() Paul, we also have found this the problem, now our server has closed, we would usually have said to people to down load the folder where now, we use google drive. You can make folders & directories in google drive, this way, you could download a whole folder. It maybe worth your time checking out the larger sized, paid Google drive ![]()

Nothing wrong with online backup, i also more prefer it then offline backup, but fact is how onedrive is a joke and there are many much better services then it. Dropbox is i think best tho they cost a bit more the others.

You just picked the shittiest cloud backup service is all. There are a number that are more popular and widely used. Why did you pick OneDrive to begin with?
