It is possible this is just a benign email, and that hosting a CGI conference is a pretty big deal. Just really odd that if she didnt attend they wanted no part in the meetings. Why do you think Haliburton paid Dick Cheney all that money to come work for them when the first Bush lost his re-election bid and Cheney was no longer Sec. Defense? They did it because they are a defense contractor and he had tons of contacts and influence in Washington.

It happens constantly. If you are a high ranking government official and you leave office the odds are you will be offered a lot of money by a lot of companies to come work for them. They are paying these people for access.
