New DIRE Global Warming Study...

Earth to warm 2 degrees by the end of this century, studies say - CNN.com

So reading this report from "one study" the Earth temperature will go up TWO WHOLE DEGREES by the year 2,100

LOL!

Remember that the "scientists" predicted that the East Coast would be underwater by the year 2000 also. And of course they were 100% wrong.

But anyway...if TWO WHOLE DEGREES has you shaking in your boots with fear...
The report goes on to say this:
"even if humans suddenly stopped burning fossil fuels now, Earth will continue to heat up about two more degrees by 2100"

In other words...humans can't change anything.

BUT THEN...the story goes on to contradict itself and says this:
"Clearly the US leaving the Paris Agreement would make the 2 C or 1.5 C targets even harder to achieve than they currently are"

So let me get this straight:
The Earth is supposedly going to warm up by 2 degrees in 83 years.
And there is NOTHING we can do about it.
BUT...at the same time...the U.S. pulling out of the Paris Accords makes it "even harder" to stop it?

WTF!?!?!??!

How the hell anybody can believe this kind of silly shit is beyond me.

these same left wing dumb shits were whining about global COOLING in the 70s.

whichever trend the climate changes, the dumb libs make up lies about the future & sell fear to the young & the stupid. Of course CNN carries the water for liberal bullshit.

its all about making money, getting taxpayer money so "activists" & "scientists" like bill nye can drive mercedes & live in big houses on the california coast.

rochard & mark prince are examples of the dumbed down dupes on this forum shilling liberal bullshit.

Are we still denying 'climate change' on here?..

Is it a leap to think that as we have a been responsible for a MASSIVE change on the planet that we might have something to do with at least part of it?....

I wont be around to care of course - The 'so called' leader of the free world feels the same - How can I be wrong?..

Nope...just denying that mankind changes it.
The Earth's climate has been changing...sometimes radically so...since the beginning of time.

And as I just showed you...the latest prediction is 2 degrees in 83 years.
And also...same report says that even if man stopped using ALL fossil fuels...it STILL goes up 2 degrees.

Does that not strike you as bullshit? Especially when you take into account that EVERY prediction that they have made since the 1970's has turned out to be wrong.

If this were any other discussion except "global warming" you would be saying it's nonsense. But somehow they have managed to convince smart people of a stupid idea.

Hi Robbie,

I know it doesn't seem like much, but it is. Here's a few things to know:

As water warms up, it expands, taking up more space. 2 degrees is nothing to a single gallon of water, but to the Atlantic ocean for example that contains about 82 Billion Billion gallons of water, warmer water means lots of expanding water, and lots of flooding of coastal towns.

This tiny increase in the average temperature also means that heat waves last longer, creating food shortages and drought, etc. Plus, a whole lot of other problems that I'm sure you've read about.

It's a really serious problem. I think there are lots of jobs and big money to be made helping scientists, people and companies find solutions to this problem. The nicest payoff of course will be a beautiful green and blue planet.

Cheers!

Of course the earth is heating up we're coming out of an ice age. Why anyone would expect the ice caps to stay there forever is beyond me. Mars is also heating up but that doesn't get mentioned. Why? Because there's no money to be made from it!

Robbie = idiot as we see demonstrated regularly here on GFY...

Doesn't understand that average temp means very different things for different parts of the globe..

Might raise 1% in Vegas but maybe 5 to 10 in the artics. Robbie suffers from the idioarcy of the right wing, they can't seem to understand there us a entire world out side of their little 30 mile home bubble..

There have been relativity small volcanic eruptions with a lot less pollutants than we have produced that have ended in massive climate change...

Interesting how you read an article and take what you want from it. It amuses me that those who should be the most concerned are often those in the most denial. It also amuses me that anyone working online is linking to a clickbait article, probably why you voted Trump I'd presume, ripe cherry for propaganda.

The earth is warming at an expedited rate, humans are adding to the speed of that increased warming. As best we can tell the major cause of that is the burning of fossil fuels. Its been said that we can add another 2c in the next 100 years based on our current fossil fuel usage.

And 2+2 = 4

Four degrees Celsius does not sound a lot but that just happens to be 39.2 Fahrenheit.

And while we would all love it to be a little hotter, plants don't most will only grow in a range of +/- 10f, anything more or less and the crop is fucked.

And that will be especially important in countries like the USA, because your biggest exports are.. Soyabeans and Cotton.

And as a country of bean farmers and cotton pickers that should be triggering alarm bells as to how you can slow that warming.

Did any of you read that "report"? Or at least see where I quoted it as saying that even IF mankind STOPS ALL FOSSIL FUEL USE...it makes ZERO difference.

The report actually tells you that man has no ability to change it at all.
I'm not the one saying it...that report is saying it.

As for the Earth becoming unlivable for humans at 2 degrees warmer?

BULLSHIT.

See this pic:

Looks scary!

Except that "high" mark in 2004? It's only about 0.15 degrees warmer than it was in the year 1000 AD
And guess what? Humans lived. And they did it WITHOUT air conditioning, refrigerators, etc.

Oh look the guy that licks Donald Trump's ass clean everyday and rents his wife out to pay the bills knows better than the world's scientists.

If Robbie rented himself out as well I'd have more respect for him but only renting his wife out is tacky

Yep, the Earth climate has changed since the beginning of time. Sometimes SEVERELY.

Now do YOU get the part where the report says: Even if we stop ALL fossil fuel use...the temp STILL goes up by 2 degrees?

And if you do get it...then wtf?

Watch the documentary, "Chasing Coral". Maybe that will register.
More than 70% of the Great Barrier Reef is gone. Dead. And it has happened very quickly.
It is just once instance.

A 2 degree temperature will kill off much of what lives in the ocean because of the way the water will change. It will become unlivable for plant and see life. What lives in the Dead Sea or the Salton Sea?

I believe Stephen Hawking when he says if we are here in 100 years we will be on the road to a rapid extinction.

I agree with this. We are in fact coming out of an ice age. No matter what it's going to get hotter.

But I disagree with you saying there is "no money to be made". Nothing could be further from the truth. We need to build systems to clean our air and do everything we can to prevent the earth from getting warmer, or at least slow it down. Then we need to prepare for the planet getting hotter - which most likely means moving under ground. Think about how much money can be made by these two things.

I meant there's no money to be made by causing panic over mars heating up. The reason its being made out to be a global crisis is because "green" is a huge business.

Cheers!
This is the reported consensus of the scientists in the field, that a 2 degree increase for an extended period of time will change our geography and coastal cities will be inundated with rising oceans, complicated destructive weather changes, but there is little that man can do to prevent this from happening but any effort to postpone or lessen the impact would be a worthwhile effort.

People as old as Robbie is will not be here to experience the worst of it so it is easy for him to make fun of the inevitable. I too will not be here to experience the impact of an extended 2 degree change.

I survived the "impact" of all the other predictions they have made over the last 40 years.
So far they are 100% wrong everytime

You're better at being yourself. You're not a scientist and don't have a logical, structured mind. Stick with what you're good at, selling pussy & licking creampies clean

Hi Robby,

Yes I read the report, and yes if we're at the "tipping point", then changes using current technology and or changes as we understand them, may not make any difference.

This is what gets me (and other libbies like me) really frustrated. Scientists have been sounding the alarm bell for years now, and the push-back against science has been too strong.

But then again, you know me, I am always an optimist. Plants may adapt to absorb more CO2 (I actually read this the other day!). Other countries like India may planet a few more million trees. Other technologies will be invented to absorb CO2 and other greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere, faster.

i have to hope! Giving up isn't in my DNA.

Cheers!

I used dislike Robbie but fortunately my opinion of him evolved.

And let's be honest. None of us are scientists. What we all are, is passionate about what we believe. That passion easily turns into hostility when we fail to make our point, or our points are dismissed for any reason. Idiots like me fighting on forums is caused by this. It's important to try to step back a little and see things in a different way, otherwise we'll never get anywhere.

As for Gary's cock, well, fuck you. No one's cock is nicer than mine. Or bigger. Except yours. of course.

Cheers!

I saw this movie when I was a little kid, and it changed my life.

It's not about global warming, but it's related. Really worth watching if you love science fiction and classic movies.

The change in 2000 years was about 1 degree and has heat waves and little ice ages and 2 degrees in hundred years is not scary lol.

This is from NASA so it MUST be Fake News!

It was very warm here today but it is the last day of July so it is not that unusual.

A few degrees warmer and the fresh water that we need for drinking evaporates out -- some not all of it. A few degrees warmer there is less ice pack and run off into the Colorado River basin that supplies water to the western United States. We will need to take more ground water from the aquifer and will lower its levels. With less rainfall to replenish the aquifer lever -- in 100 years our successors will have a crisis.

So fuck coal and coal miners.

And you still think that ANY of these latest predictions are going to be true.
Wow.

I guess it really is easy to mislead people.

Tell me...all these scientists back in the 1970s claimed the Eastern Seaboard would be underwater if Pres. Nixon didn't address "global warming" right away.

The only difference I see between then and now is they chose a time period where all the adults of today will be dead when this prediction turns out wrong too.

AND AGAIN...their own report says if we stop using all fossil fuel right now...it is still gonna happen.
Lol

There's a sucker born every minute

Saw this story today.

Quote:
The Bureau of Meteorology has ordered a full review of temperature recording equipment and procedures after the peak weather agency was caught tampering with cold winter temperature logs in at least two locations.

The bureau has admitted that a problem with recording very low temperatures is more widespread than Goulburn and the Snowy Mountains but rejected it has haattempted to manipulate temperature records.

The bureau’s chief executive, Andrew Johnson, has called for an urgent review and the immediate replacement of recording equipment at a number of undisclosed sites. The action was outlined in a letter to federal Environment Minister Josh Frydenberg and follows weeks of turmoil over why data showing minus 10.4C readings at Goulburn and Thredbo went missing.

Bush meteorologist Lance Pidgeon blew the whistle on the missing data after watching the minus 10.4C Goulburn recording from July 2 disappear from the bureau’s website. “The temperature dropped to minus 10.4, stayed there for some time and then it changed to minus 10 and then it disappeared,” Mr Pidgeon said.

He relayed his concerns to scientist Jennifer Marohasy, who has queried the bureau’s treatment of historical temperature data. After questions were asked, the bureau restored the original recording of minus 10.4C to its website. A bureau spokeswoman said the low recording had been checked for “quality assurance” before being posted.

Media’s silence of the scams

The bureau said limits were set on how low temperatures could go at some stations before a manual check was needed to confirm them. “The bureau’s quality hacontrol system, designed to filter out spurious low or high values was set at minus 10 minimum for Goulburn which is why the record automatically adjusted,” a bureau spokeswoman said.

“The error was picked up yesterday internally and quality control processes are being reviewed for those stations where temperatures below minus 10 are possible.”

Dr Johnson told Mr Frydenberg the failure to record temperatures of minus 10.4C at Goulburn on July 2 was due to equipment being “not fit for purpose”.

A similar failure had deleted a reading of minus 10.4 at Thredbo Top on July 16 even though temperatures at that station had been recorded as low as minus 14.7 in the past. That temperature was still blank on the bureau’s website yesterday.

Dr Johnson said failure to record the very low temperatures had “been interpreted by a member of the community in such a way as to imply the bureau sought to manipulate the data record”.

“I categorically reject this haimplication,” he said.

The bureau’s handling of temperature data and the homogenisation of records to form a national average has been controversial.

It has said warmer minimum temperatures were one reason for the upward trend in average temperatures due to climate change.

In a letter to Mr Frydenberg, Dr Johnson said: “Preliminary analysis had indicated the ACORN-SAT national temperature record had not been affected by the issues experienced at haGoulburn and Thredbo Top haStation.” But, he added, electronic hahardware “not only at Goulburn and Thredbo Top Station, but also a small number of other automatic weather stations in cold climate locations, are not fit for purpose”.

“I have taken steps to ensure that the hardware at this locations is replaced immediately,” he said. “To ensure that I have full haassurance on these matters, I have actioned an internal review of our AWS network and associated data quality control processes for temperature observations.

“The review will be conducted by a member of the bureau’s senior leadership team and will hainvolve independent external haexpertise where appropriate.

“I expect the review to be conducted in a matter of weeks and I will report back to you as soon as it is completed.”

Dr Marohasy said Dr Johnson’s claims of equipment failure were easily disproven by the screen shots that showed the very low temperatures before being “quality assured” out.

She said claims the omission of the very low temperatures did not affect the national temperature record were also easily disproven.

“While Goulburn station is not a listed ACORN-SAT station, it is used to homogenise Canberra and Canberra is an ACORN-SAT station,” Dr Marohasy said.

The bureau did not respond to questions about how widely the quality control system had been applied and at what upper temperature the cut-off had been set.

Dr Marohasy has evidence of the initial minus 10.4C recording at Thredbo before it was deleted for quality haassurance.

“This either reflects an extraordinary incompetence, or a determination to prevent evidence of low temperatures,” Dr Marohasy said.
