As I was walking out of the gym today, I looked up at CNN and the headline said something about this scum wanting to display an ISIS flag in his hospital room. I was thinking they should bring an ISIS flag to his room and shove it down his throat with a broom handle until it completely disappears. No, he should not receive the death penalty. He should be placed in a giant bird cage that hangs over the site in which he committed the atrocity. Left there to be spit on, cursed it, shit on by birds and slowly starve to death. His skeleton should remain for years.

How do we deal with guys who shoot people from hotel windows with assault rifles or massacre 1st graders or theater goers? Doesn't that seem like a much bigger problem than a dying terrorist cause lashing out occasionally? I don't fear ISIS like Fox News says I should. I'm more worried about a freedom loving American perforating my family with lead while we have Chick Fil A.

No. I'm not opposed to the death penalty from a moral standpoint. If anyone deserves it, this guy does. However, it is very expensive, takes up a lot of people's time, and ultimately doesn't do anything to dissuade others from doing the same. Just throw him in a cell and forget about him.

I'd say do whatever costs less. If it's execution, then do that. If rotting in a cell is cheaper, then do that.

Even cheaper would be a .22 caliber bullet that costs few cents, or a carefully placed knight stick swing. I love that we live in a country where even when we know for sure that someone should be put down, there's checks and balances to keep things from running totally amok. The cost is not being able to dispose of this guy inexpensively in a just a few seconds.

I don't believe in the death penalty, I don't think its ever stopped a single crime. Sending someone to their paradise is not punishment.

Its just more DMCA murders that the social media sites that influenced him will wash their hands and walk free again. You see its user uploaded content and its not their reasonability and their site wouldn't be profitable if they had to correctly monitor it.

Every life prisoner can choose death by themselves. If they think death penalty is easier to him, he can get that (suicide, suicide by other prisoner etc etc). Not many of life prisoners choose that "easier" way, so maybe it is not their preferred choice.

one whom would pass such a judgement and ruling on another deserves the same. In reality no punishment suits these kinds of crimes so trying to come up with creative ways to try this is an exercise in psychopathy.

I always wonder about the people who come up with this form of punishment. Is THAT the ultimate punishment for everyone? Or is it just your own projection as something you fear yourself? And which part do you fear most? The act? or that the fact that it could be something you fantasize about and would choose to die before you let anyone know this? When people say its' going to be 'bubba' from cell block d. Is this your ultimate fearful person? Or is this again fantasy? The truth is there is no line up of inmates who can't wait to rape people for the sake of justice. That doesn't happen, not even in movies...

Torture doesn't deter violence, if anything it only creates more violence because someone has to carry this out. At least with a standard death penalty the problem is snuffed out. For more serious crimes like this i mean.

The paradox is that the private prison system in the state of NY is the most expensive in the country.

Housing a prisoner in the state of New York costs about 60 k a year, which would otherwise be a very nice salary for anybody actually producing something else than Jihad.

Not to mention that prisons in general nowadays work as very effective Jihadi recruitment centers, so he is likely to get involved in a lot of dawa (proselytizing of Islam) over there.
