Virginia is the state right above New Hampshire on your chart yet it's 19.4 percent black. Also how do you explain Montana 90.58% white & West Virginia's (92.9% white) crime rates? They both have very high white populations.

When I lived in Seabrook my neighbor was Hispanic and across the road was a mixed-race couple. In Rye Beach my neighbors were black, and that’s on a high-priced exclusive area. The husband always came over to help me shlep in groceries.

In Portsmouth I worked in a complex of businesses with a black-owned company making green/black/red African merchandise. They made me a snow hat with a big P on the front and a tri-colored pompom. I still have it.

The stats depend on who responded to the survey. What percentage of residents stated their color?

Right over the border from Massachusetts is a large population of non-whites. Near Lowell, you’ll find liquor seekers as NH allows Sunday liquor sales. Find out the stats of Salem and bordering communities. Hispanic and African-American presence is heavy, plus Cambodians, Vietnamese, Laotians and other third-world countries.

The job market up North is lacking openings. People of color were there over twenty years ago but the lack of jobs made many leave.

The ski resorts have black people but they are pointed out. It isn’t fair to make them uncomfortable like that. They go elsewhere and diversity suffers.

My house in Maine was bought when the internet was new and research was limited. A friend saw it and sent pictures and I bought it without seeing it in person. I didn’t know if my neighbors were white or black, rich or poor, noisy or quiet old or young. I cared about the house, proximity to highway and stores, hospitals and a safe road to get away from the nuclear plant if needed

I saw all races at the mall in Portsmouth. All ages, all religions. It was like being home. People need a reason to live up North. Jobs are #1. When people of color are ready, they’ll move there. You’re right, force isn’t needed
