Gender is over, according to the newly pregnant Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle. Based on reports, she and Prince Harry have to decided to raise their baby in a genderfluid environment inside one of the world’s oldest monarchies.

As reported in The Daily Express, a source close to the royals told Vanity Fair that “Meghan has been talking to some of her friends about the birth and how she and Harry plan to raise their baby. Her exact word was ‘fluid.’”

Markle and her royal husband “plan to raise their child with a fluid approach to gender and they won’t be imposing any stereotypes,” the source said.

While the source was unclear on what exactly Markle meant by “fluid,” Elle had details about the princess’ baby shower that seem to shed a bit more light on her approach. “Meghan’s baby shower in New York City was gender neutral, despite buzz on social media that somehow the decorations or gift bags hinted the baby’s gender. Five-star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten created treats in gender neutral tones.”

Daniel Martin, Markle’s makeup artist, posted one of these nonbinary treats on Instagram.

If I have a boy I'm raising him as a boy. If I have a girl and raising her as a girl. If other people want to let their kids decide what they wear and take a chance the boy will like something girly looking then that's on them and they're not hurting anybody.

Just let kids be kids and teach them responsibility, discipline, respect, etc. Regardless of their gender. At a certain age the 'kid' will naturally begin the process of becoming what they are.

It should not be artificially forced by any means. I feel so lucky to have never given a second thought as to my gender. I was born a boy and raised as a child. There were never any discussions about what I should play with, how I should dress, etc. That was pretty much left to me as long as it was age appropriate. The only obstacles were affording the things I wanted, which is where my parents taught the value of work and money.

But they never even hinted at anything gender related, nor did I ever think about it. If they did start making a big deal out of it when I was still in that stage I probably would have gotten a little confused.

Once puberty hit I started to discover females in a way I never considered before. What an amazing experience. They went from a mild enigma to literally goddess type beings that I couldn't get out of my head.

None of this was instilled in me by social construct. Perhaps because my parents were working all the time to make sure we had what we needed that they had no time for this nonsense.

Either way what I know is nature works just fine if you leave it alone.

I think you're taking the extreme examples of coercion, whereas I (and I'm guessing the other 'dissenters' here) are more along the lines of that if some 4 year old boy wants to put on a dress and walk around in his mum's heels, so what.

I agree 'no such thing as gender' is nonsense. If I had a son who put on a dress while playing, I wouldn't panic that he would have any kind of issues though. By the same token, I wouldn't make him wear a dress every other day just to prove some point about gender fluidity.

Shitty parents are shitty parents regardless, and likely has more to do with economic standing than simply as a result of being single parents. I'm a single parent - it's not exactly a rarity, but to equate that to prison populations is skewed imo, take out all the non-violent drug 'offenders', people who plea-deal in the US system rather than risk trial, and sure, most will still be from single parent families, but not by much because the numbers between single/married parents isn't that great.
