My cholesterol levels are perfect!

So my doc says my cholesterol is perfect and I've heard that over and over again and
each time I think the doctor must be on fucking drugs.

I mean, how DaFuq can that be true! I eat like SHIT!!!!!!

The only thing I can figure out is that it's either genetic or eating tuna and sardines.

I don't eat tuna or sardines every day but I always have cans of tuna at home and
often a can or two of sardines.

Seriously, I eat fat burgers, stakes, sausage, fried chicken, eggs, butter and cheese.
I eat eggs and sausage every single day.




EDIT : Hmmmmm, I left out grits.

I am fairly skinny, but my last talk with my doctor about my cholesterol levels and his words were "yeah they are sky high".

His words not mine. And yeah i do have a terrible diet, but since i don't seem to put the weight on i always just figure, "might aswell eat what i enjoy"....

I'm thin, eat healthy and exercise a lot. My bad cholesterol is quite high... Maybe I should give a junk food diet a try.

by eating all that junk food? what magical fast food places doesn't use those oils?... Your cholesterol can be through the roof by eating super strict keto diet as well, that doesn't mean shit. In his case it's clearly genetic. Also, younger people tend to get away with more but when they hit a certain age shit piles on fast so its good to keep an eye out.

Btw cholesterol has got to be the dumbest measure of health a doctor can do, right up there with BMI.

If your cholesterol is somewhat balanced and not too high on the ldl you are better than having the opposite but if your triglycerides are high the rest doesn't mean shit. If your omega 3/6 ratio is heavy on the 6's? your arteries aren't going to do too well long term either so his eating fish frequently is a good idea and probably helping more than most things he is eating.

There are definitely some of us that can get away with more than others, but one thing is definitely universal. Eating more vegetables and unprocessed food more often than not is a healthier way to go no matter who you are.

My Cholesterol is overall 2.8
LDL 1.41
HDL 1.0
Triglycerides 0.8

This means I'm closer to being medicated for not having enough...

Last year 1 heart attack, stented twice.... go figure.

Sedentary lifestyle + smoker 25 years, 30 nespressos a day

Now I've stopped smoking cut back the coffee and go to gym/walk daily. Mr Lunchout became MrWorkout.

ExChef here I eat meat 1-2 times a week max, 4 seafood meals and at least 1 day veggo. Dairy products I fucking love... but refrain from having any at home except homemade yoghurt. I don't drink milk that doesn't come from cows...

If you are not eating excessive carbohydrates and if you are not a smoker that is totally normal. Eating fats doesn't increase your blood cholesterol level inflammation does! Of course, fish is rich in omega3 fatty acids so this might be contributing to your normal cholesterol levels also genetics plays an important role!

This. Cholesterol is not bad for you. How can it be? It's something your body makes. If you eat more then your body makes a bit less, if you eat less, your body makes what it needs. It needs it to build things and repair things.

Inflammation is what causes the problems, your body uses cholesterol to fix those problems.

One of the inflammatory foods is omega 6 oil - vegetable oil, sunflower oil, canola oil etc. Because they are highly processed.

Omega 3 oils - olive oil, coconut oil, butter - are much healthier.

The other inflammatory food is sugar. Cut out vegetable oils and sugar and stop worrying about your cholesterol.

No shortage of carbs with grits for breakfast 97% of time.

yeah I had serum hepatitis as a kid and now there's NO trace of hepatitis in my liver at all (yuck on grits)
