Covid-19 thread

We're like 6 months into it now, how's it affecting you?

Personally, business is way up, socializing is way down, and as much as I hate my girlfriend...thank god I have her.

Wearing a mask at stores is getting pretty old but where I am (northern california) literally everyone is wearing one now, so you can get groceries with pretty much no worries.

My brother's in the military and I haven't seen him since january. He's in hawaii, they're not letting service members travel out of state. definitely the worst part of the whole thing for me, I miss him and I have no idea when I'll see him again.

I got in shape, just for something to do. Doin pull-ups and hill sprints like I'm 17 again. Get in shape if you're not, it feels good.

I haven't eaten in a restaurant or drank at a bar since february--definitely the biggest lifestyle change, but...it's really not bothering me.

How's covid been for you? Tell your story.

Business good, socializing down as well. Got used to the masks and I dont mind at all. Will see how the second wave turns out here in EU, but I dont really think that they are going to shut down whole countries anymore (like people need to stay home, not the borders, because Hungary is already closing his starting September). Maybe regions hit with the most positive cases..

Nothing really changed for me at all. I never had a social life, and I just lie in bed all day, eating and eating, and my support nurses never stopped coming...

for me nothing changed that much...
where I am, bars are open, and people don't wear masks...
also, im fine until my laptop is fine

But what changed for me is the awareness how many stupid people exist...and how easily they got tricked by the biggest scam and hoax of the last decades.

its actually sad to see how easily people are ruled by the fear...and its also scary to realize it, at the same time.
you are all going to give up all your liberties, freedoms and choices for a false sense of security. at the same time giving up what makes this life interesting.

Since the lockdown in mid March, Friday the 13th, things didn´t change much and still now, everything´s the same, apart from the area I live would usually be crowded with holiday makers, it´s about 80% down on flights in airports and road use, restaurants and bars are at 70% usual tables and there´s always a table free to sit down, relax with a nice glass of wine and paella with the sea swilling by your feet...

really it´s all quite pleasant, apart from the business and income sides of things, all business is hurting from this crazy pandemic

The world is slowly starting to wake up about the whole scamdemic. There are big protests in Germany and London right now but of course, the mainstream media aren't so keen to cover it and instead just keep forcing the fear.

Here in New York City (and New Jersey) the Covid cases are the lowest in the country because mostly everyone wore/wears masks. But the city itself? A total shithole now.

Most stores closed, street dining but with crazy laws like you have to close by 9 pm, even on weekends. Homeless everywhere, garbage everywhere, hookers (mostly trannies) and drug dealers everywhere because the police are nowhere to be found. Shootings up, crime is up, people leaving in droves. The only good news is I am thinking of upgrading my apartment situation now that there are so many vacancies. I am also considering getting the fuck OUT.

Business was up 25% since Covid BUT has been down 20% from the previous normal due to it being August, US unemployment ending and no stimulas checks. Hoping that changes when we get closer to the Presidential Election in November.

Fun times? No.

The corona will be seen as just a light flu if people start realising how many economies and lives are destoyed and how many people will die in poverty. And politicians will use the fear to abuse their power and take away freedoms.

Here in Holland for people most is normal. Store and bar owners are terrorized bij police. If people in the back are a little to close, they will shut down the bar. Most making big losses. In the mean time the minister of Justice held his own wedding, but no distance. Businesses are closed and people arrested for less and got a criminal record... he just made some excuse and made a donation to the red cross..

Business as usual, go with the flow. Only governments make traveling difficult and making problems. In 2 months i must leave the EU, must see where to go. Countries closing down cause the do more test and see the corona is more spread than they thought (but hardly do any damage) and hospitals are empty.

Wedding Minister of Justice in Holland, the boss of Corona police.

Top picture his wedding, second picture a birthday party for a 3 year old.
Before he said you where an ashole if you held parties in Corona times..
More pictures of the birthday party, held on the same day, a few kilomters from the wedding.

With a mortality of 0.2% nobody really knows whether it is a serious threat or a total hoax. here in europe the politicians act as if the apocalypse and mass extinction has already occurred in america, and with you americanos it is probably exactly the other way around. Nobody knows whether these are just the normal flu deaths in statistics, anyway they say died with or from corona

how many of you guys do know someone , who really died only from corona without the person being over 70 years old and already having various previous illnesses?

The way they were reporting the death statistics in the UK, up until very recently, was ridiculous.

Say a guy in his 30s felt a little ill back in April. He goes to the doc and gets told he has covid and needs to isolate. Contact hospital if he has trouble breathing etc... So he stays at home for 14 days, feels a bit under the weather, but basically has had covid and recovers from it... No big excitement, no hospitalization. Just feels poorly for a few days and that's the end of it...

Fast forward to Early this month, 4 months later and he's driving home from work when he gets obliterated in his car at a junction by a drunk driver going 80MPH. He didn't stand a chance... So what goes on his death certificate? Automobile accident? Severe Crushing of all bodily organs? Nope. Because he tested positive for Covid 4 months prior to the crash, his death was reported as being from Covid-19...

Seriously. You couldn't make that shit up. Its only recently been changed so that doesn't happen anymore. In the last few weeks or so, which is why I know about it...

I know it sounds like I'm trolling but Im not - Heres a link to the change - https://www.cebm.net/covid-19/public...-data-revised/

Even for young people, studies are finding Covid-19 can eff you up longterm in many different ways - heart, kidneys, neurological, lungs, stroke . . . A fairly young neighbor thought he was having a heart attack. Turned out to be chronic myocarditis (inflammation of the heart). Thought he might have Covid but tested negative. Took a long time to resolve and he may have permanent repercussions. He tested positive for Covid antibodies (which meant is was months prior) and felt nothing until his heart started going crazy. So, it's not all about being young and death rates.

Here in Vancouver the curve is starting to go from mid teens to over a hundred a day . Most people wear masks when roaming doing chores.Being a front line worker it's just another day. I'm grateful still working when many people aren't due to it. When the federal benefits run out at the end of Sept, I guess the reality kicks in for many.
No night life, pubs are scarce if not closed, restaurants are socially distant. I drink , I work, I repeat.

Poland is business as usual. We locked down for about 2 weeks and then had some stupid rules where only seniors could shop between 10am and 12am, and there was a limit of 3 people in a store per cash register. This was quickly withdrawn as seniors were just going during normal hours anyways, and all the customer limit caused was HUGE lineups outside while the insides were completely empty.

Everything has been open for completely and normally for about 2 - 2,5 months. People are back to their jobs. People are at the beaches. Kids have been playing in the streets like normal for months. We've been shaking hands like normal human beings. Schools open on Wednesday.

Cases have recently gone up due to outbreaks at coal mines (so they started testing the miners and their families) but apparently it's like 98% asymptomatic or something.

The standing theory is that we are largely unaffected because since 1955 every baby has gotten a tuberculosis vaccination within the first day of life, and apparently countries that do this have been affected much less.

I only used drink driving as an off the top of my head example. Point was, that up until recently, it didn't matter WHY or HOW you died. It was being reported as Covid and inflating the figures exponentially.

So if you had a heart attack, fell off of a cliff while hiking, took an overdose of heroin from a needle etc, basically ANY reason at all that was COMPLETELY unrelated to Covid, you were classed as having died from it.

Yeah, Covid exists, yeah it's bad for the elderly and people like me who are high risk, but the numbers that make it seem as deadly as we were supposed to think it is, are / were grossly inflated.

We don't hear of the countries who are open and doing well. Only the spots that keep the fear going.

Not true.

It's because NY got hit early on and the virus went through the population. The antibody testing in NY yields higher %'s than most other areas, meaning it is closer to herd immunity than elsewhere.

Some countries/states have high rates of mask wearing and cases are going up (Philippines, Hawaii), some countries have lower rates of mask wearing (in Europe) and cases are going down. It has nothing to do with masks or we'd see a correlation across the board.

It's still fucked up here on the eastern part of canada in Newfoundland, living on an island we have locked down the borders to the rest of canada, as of yesterday we are allowing people who own summer homes an exemption and anybody entering the island has to self isolate for 14 days, we have had less then 300 cases of covid and 3 deaths and they just made mask mandatory here!!Our population is 80% senior and they are all scared shitless!!

If we got a case these people found the persons private info and shamed them in the towns and now it to the point of people don't even want to get tested!!

Tourism is one of our biggest industries so this winter will be interesting to see after they cut off federal benefits and still only 75% open!!

That's one of the problems with being an area that is isolated. You get very few cases and are able to shut the world out and keep the virus out successfully.

But then what.

Then you are scared to death of getting just one case and so you stay locked down in fear, putting an enormous strain on all the citizens and on the economy and have trapped yourself in a corner with no way out.

New Zealand did this. They shut themselves off from the world, waited the virus out and had no cases for 100 days. They patted themselves on the back and the world looked upon them as a shining example of how to lock down and beat the virus. Then a few weeks ago cases started rising again and now they have 67 + cases with no idea where they came from since the borders remained closed. So they went back into lock down and will mandate masks soon and the people who adored their prime minister are starting to get fed up while their economy dwindles.

You either stay that way for 30 years and commit suicide or you accept the virus, take some precautions for the vulnerable and move on.

Yeah and this province was already is already on the edge of bankruptcy so I think we are in for a rough ride, we still havent learned how to live with covid and the seniors dont want to even hear any talk about opening to the rest of canada

Business is up. Everyone was suddenly forced to work from home and wanted to market to their customers that were also at home, and email marketing is the easiest and least expensive way to do it.

Personally.... Not much has changed. I work from home. I can't go to the gym so I bought an elliptical and work out at home. I still bike ride every day too.

We also got ourselves a puppy which has been a blast for us...

New York has already achieved saturation point for covid. Essentially they have herd immunity. Closing businesses is totally pointless as most people have already had it.

Fun times? No.

It's been quite the year hasn't it. And we ain't over it yet.

Business wise on a personal level, pretty much remains the same.
Socialising has changed obviously. Bars and restaurants here are open, but it will be interesting to see how busy the restaurants remain after today since the government scheme which basically meant your food bill was half price from Monday till Wednesday ends today. Places have been mobbed since that was introduced but i haven't checked it out for myself simply because i can't be fucked with eating somewhere overcrowded as shit now all just to save a few pounds. I get the idea since when restaurants did re-open people were still very edgy and unwilling to spend, but for me, i've gotten used to not dining out so i'm in no rush to do so now.

Sports have been back a few weeks but with the empty stadiums it still doesn't feel as if the new season has started for real. I feel like in a few years time we'll be looking back at all this like wtffff ??

My aunt who had covid-19 and spent exactly 100 days in hospital (many weeks on a ventilator) is back home and recovering thankfully. She is just very thin and weak now but hopefully over the next weeks and months she gets better and better.

The mask situation is still very odd and although most people are going by the current rules, many are not so, who knows what the next few months and indeed years ahead will bring but for now, yeah life is kinda paused.

Going on any type of vacation doesn't interest me at all just now...

I've been having a great time in NYC for the past month. No need to wear a mask in public outdoors, only indoors. Everyday you see more and more people not wearing masks. And at the New Jersey beaches you barely see any masks at all.
All the outdoor bars also really give you that summer vibe. Life is good.

Yeah. When people start to see more and more "other people" enjoying that summer vibe and them not dying an instant death, then they will relax and move in that direction as well.
