Why does everyone have such shitty landing pages?
Are companies good at finding out the metrics on which one of their landing pages perform the best? Sure. Lets give them that. processing geos and optimizing performance - yes.
But holy fuck are they missing the margin on actually enticing customers to peep the back end (not to mention most back ends are god awful). Not just their landing pages but their banners as well (and lets not forget the dummies who's redirects and ad loads take longer than.. immediate load times. Cams are the only back end that ever lives up to any type of representation. Unless you are one of three of the largest dating sites. I think I've seen like one other guy be creative with his pitch points and thats Pheer.. and though im not privy to everyones highest performing buys, I'm privy to a fair bit. All of the huge ad buys I see filter out the very tiniest percentage of click throughs (retard tier people) and follow up with some generic landing scheme because 'thats what everyone else is doing durp'. Adult used to be at the forefront of creativity. Now its just a bunch of suits making the same mistakes mainstream does over and over. Im not saying they are not making money. Im saying they are wasting a huge chunk of the pie while burning through its future viability at the same time. The resources these people have.. its akin to Burger King spending a billion dollars on down to the letter minutia just to hire a retard that serves you a cold burger. I give advertising, the way it exists now.. another 5 years max, even with all the new dummies being churned out every day. Sucker born every minute, and a person getting wise every two (and closing). |

if you own the traffic source and/or the monetization method, you have such a competitive advantage you can afford to be lazy.

I don't claim any kind of landing page expertise but I can say, there are numerous creative areas in the adult industry that tend to be very poor quality in comparison to the amount of resources available for their optimization. Just for example, sales blurbs on shoot/movie/update pages, and sex toy sales copy.
My theory boils down to greed. You see excellent creatives in small operations where the owner is also the creative talent and happens to have a talent for the work. But anybody that's getting adult creative work done by employees or (more often) contractors always ends up cheaping out. Sure, they can hire a professional and get top-notch creative work, but it will be expensive. The siren call of some English-as-a-second-language person willing to do the work for a fifth of the price always ends up winning. Making this worse is that anybody who can write top-quality sales material is more likely to be doing it for their own account than for a wage or as piecework. Nobody wants to pay what that kind of work is worth, because they imagine the value is in their content rather than in the sales material. They won't pay fair value for sales creatives because it's a hefty fraction of the generated income, which they hope to mostly keep. |

I think there is a lot of "we do it this way because we do it this way".
Also a lot of finger pointing to larger companies who either outsource their creative or have it done by college interns who don't know any better. |

All Your Design Needs

When we work on creatives with companies we "beg" them to share the data with us so we can constantly build better converting pages and banner ads for them. Everyone's traffic sources are different and the simplest things can make a landing page convert so much better! It's not always the pretty flashy landing pages that convert but the well thought out page that captures emails and info from the surfer.
Several of our long term clients understand that they need to run several sets and split test everything and they do very well when they work with us after the build. Sadly a lot of companies just order creatives, run them a few times and never work with us again to try and improve the CTR's. Building creatives that convert is an art form that takes a lot of communication and work from both parties.

Adult program owners cheap out, and many wouldn't even know what a good creative was if it shit on their shoes. |

I´m with ModelCentro, I like the style I´ve used on my site, personally it´s the best of the few choices we have.
However, it would be great if MC gave more choice, maybe 10 different landing pages, a larger variety ![]()
