But on the second point I disagree. We live in an instant culture with extremely short memories. While academically we can still study the past, erasing it entirely from modern current culture is a mistake that will lead, not to a better Utopian society, but to a generation doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. Once again it seems that parents today want governments and corporations to teach their children values and what's right and what's wrong about history.

That's a pretty silly point to try to make. It's not apart of our culture anymore to go ride our horses off into the sunset after hunting buffalo all day, but children still learn about that history. You can watch cheesy documentaries about it on Youtube, History channel, etc.. Even read cheesy fiction books about it, too!

I'm sure some cry baby back in the 50's said the same thing about "parents just want the government and corporations to baby sit" when in reality, the only people I see whining about it or even mentioning it are dorks like you. Some have posted on FB mocking you cry babies, but most people don't give a shit.

The more remarkable part is that something from my parents' toddler years is still culturally known amongst youth today. That's not really normal at all - it's a testament to the brand's longevity.

I tend to avoid whining about what private companies do with their own products unless it directly impacts my health. For example, if I found out Dasani was putting lethal poison in their bottled water, I may get a bit upset.

Outside of that, you're just bitching for attention. The hilarious part about the Dr. Seuss thing, the one you made a whiney thread about on an internet marketing forum, is that nobody pressured them to do anything at all - that's just manufactured from right-wing whiney bitch media. The books didn't really do well anyways so they yanked them from production and used it as an opportunity to get some nice marketing in also.
