anyone here try vegan diet, or raw diet, or paleo diet, or pescoveg diet?
there are a lot of different diets around, I was thinking of trying something different for a little while just to see how it goes
a combination of a couple different diets might be fun too, like I might try a meal of raw for lunch, and a pescovegetarian supper anybody here try any of these diets? I'm not using it for weight loss as I am already at my ideal weight, maybe a little bit of cutting, but more for health and wellbeing |

About five years ago, on a bet, I went Vegan for 90 days. It actually really agreed with me. I lost some weight, felt great and had a ton of energy. I actually stuck with it for about a year. The problem is that it is very inconvenient. There is almost nothing you can order at restaurants unless it a vegan place and there are not many choices when it comes to quick things you can eat without a lot of effort.
Eventually it just wore on me. Then one afternoon I had a cheeseburger. It made me sick, but I almost had an orgasm as I ate it and that was the end of the vegan lifestyle. |

I did a raw food diet with my daughter for several months. Hardest diet ever, but I lost weight and it had some pretty cool side benefits in that it totally eliminated the acid reflux I use to have for years. It never returned, even after I quit the diet.
I don't know how you can consider yourself on a raw diet if you only do it once a day (lunch). I doubt you would benefit [as] much from that process. |

pesco is pretty good, I did it for 10 years. Can't get a much healthier protein source than fish (especially mid and smaller fish like salmon) and you don't really lose out in the flavour department that much, just depends how far you take it, like in a resturant are you going to go past the fish, artichoke and speck dish because of the pork flavouring? At any rate it prevents most fast and poorly made food which is a good thing (unless you eat deep fried fish and chips which kinda defeats the point)
Vegan is pretty extreme, I mean, no honey because it makes bees our slaves? c'mon. |

I'm on a raw diet, but not raw vegan. Lost huge amounts of weight. Been doing it for about 4 months now.

Been vegetarian for some time now (not vegan though). It was difficult at first, my body made me crave meat. Eventually the cravings went, now I feel a lot healthier than I ever did as a meat eater. If I go without the eggs too long I don't feel 100% (probably Iron levels)

whole milk yogurt and kefir really makes me feel good, so I don't think I'd want to go as drastic as vegan, but lacto-ovo-vegetarian with a lot of raw choices might be something I will try

Pesco would be great if most seafood wasn't fucked up with oil or japanese radiation for the next couple of years.. so I'm Vegetarian/trying to be vegan. One thing i've noticed as i've aged is that dairy is agreeing with me less and less.. if i go vegan a few days I stop farting almost completely, then as soon as I eat cheese again it's like a fucking wind tunnel in here.
Some of the benefits of not eating meat is I basically don't get cold/flu's anymore, and have a ton more energy. Infact I think it agree's with me so much that I have absolutely no desire to eat meat anymore, even when i'm drunk. http://isveganhealthy.com/10-tips-to-help-you-go-vegan/ |

I'm a vegetarian. I'm convinced that it would be healthier to have a few servings of meat each week, though. By "servings" I mean traditional sized servings, not super sized. The Quarter Pounder was a big burger when it came out. The original McDonald's burger was 1.6 oz. At 12 oz., a Triple Whopper could be considered eight servings of meat - a week's worth.
I think our bodies are made for 1950s style servings of 1.6 ounces, not 12 ounce Triple Whoppers, but we are designed to eat SOME meat - that's why we have canine teeth, but just four canine teeth and twenty-eight teeth for vegetables and grains.

My mom recently had to move into a nursing home for a while and the first few days she complained to me about the lack of food because the portions were tiny. I pointed out that the portions were likely a normal suggested portion size, but that they were not what she was used to. After a few days the nutritionist there told her she was actually getting 1800 calories a day so the portions were normal. Now that she has been there a few weeks she as adjusted to it and sometimes doesn't even eat it all. |
