Well this is the internet and I dont know if we are the right ppl to judge what crosses the line of what should be alllowed here.
Personally I think it's a grotesque thing to make money off, but then again a lot of ppl around me think the same thing about the fact that I make my money offa porn.

Yeah Rick crossed MY line, but I have seen animal abuse on tv before this. And the argument about kids getting the same idea, then we should also ban that jackass type of shit shows that cater to the real morons. We should also ban Eminem when he kills his wife in a song very graphically, cuz you know some kids might wanna try that at home ;)

Freedom of speech is freedom of speech and Rick can make his money however he choose in my book, with a few very obvious exceptions of course. Then again, I'm sure he really doesn't give a shit about wether we approve or not ;)

ya defenders - it's a documentary of the cat right?

it is not legal to burn a cat btw. it is probably legal to show the video though. one could suggest hypothetically that any commercial gains from the crime against the animal are not the cleanest.

CJ is free to post immoral pictures and videos.

We are free to shake our heads at them for doing it.

Freedom isn't always sunshine and flowers, but would you have it any other way?

At first I was expecting to see them break the cats neck, bash it with a bat or let a dog mawl it from the cage or boil it alive then rip the fur out. Then I saw them poor the liquid onto the cat. I wasnt feelin that bad until I heard the cat make that horric sound. Thats when it hit me. That was pretty gross. At least the cat being boiled I couldnt here it. Sad. Sad.

brisk i agree with you. that being said you cannot defend cj and also believe that intellectual property laws don't apply to them when they are doing biz in the u.s.. freedom of speech yes, freedom to allegedly take another producers content, stick their logo on it and distribute it (allegedly)?

so to answer your question- i do not think cj is the best example for why freedom of speech is so great. and hopefully every content producer they allegedly steal from will exercise the intellectual properties laws that also make this country great.

CJ and copyright infringement are a whole different topic than this thread.

By the way, I'm not defending or condemning CJ. I'm just an observer.

On the matter of cruelty to lobsters. Yes that's obviously not a fun way to go for the lobster, but unfortunately there are 6 Billion human beings on this planet that need to eat to live.

I'm opposed to eating animals, but most of the planet doesn't have a problem with it.

Sticking a cat in a cage, throwing gasoline on it, light it on fire, laughing while it screams, and then make jokes about it is not the same thing.

Our government conducts gruesome experiments on animals. They've been doing this for over 60 years now. Stuff you can not even imagine. Things that make this cat video look mild.

Did you know the US government does brain experiments on live cats to understand how pain works? They wire electrodes into the cats tooth pulp, where some of the most extremely painful nerve endings are on any being and then will subject the cat to weeks of threshold experiments before it will eventually die or be euthanized for brain studies.

They put dogs, cats, monkeys, pigs, rats, mice in other animals, into chambers that are like giant microwave ovens and to test the effect of microwave energy on organs and flesh.

They use a tumbling device which is like a miniature dryer and put rats, mice, and guinea pigs inside with there paws tied and rotate them to the top where they drop and rotate to the top and drop for thousands of cycles to experiment on how falls create various injuries to organs.

They strap monkeys into metal chairs for up to months at a time without giving them any breaks and subject them to all sorts of horrific tests.

They break the legs of dogs and cats so that military medical personel can learn how to repair broken bones.

They burn dogs and cats while alive so that military medical personel can learn how to treat burns on soldiers.

They force pour caustic chemicals down the throats of dogs, cats, rabbits, and other animals to test how much ingestation it takes to kill someone with a particular chemical agent.

They subject all the animals to biowarfare experiments. Blasting them in radiation chambers to see what would happen to soldiers near a nuclear blast. They gas them. Them chemical them. On and on.

That's why seeing this cat video is mild in comparison.

Do some research and see how your tax dollars are being spent.

in the previous post I was asking is there any other way for freedom having in more comfortable way and mainly in agreement with each other to be able to have the so-called sunshine and flowers.

for those of you that don't know the CJ guys personally, I think the only line they have is anything to do with KP, other than that it's open game, part of their biz model, and obviously they are very good at their business. bet this thread has 5 pages by morn, and this is a fucking WM board, imagine how many people will be talking about this at the watercoolers.

For the record, if I ever saw anyone so much as give a cat a paper cut I would kick him in the nutz and beat his mom and his grama up. I'll never watch it, and I'm freaked out just knowing that video is there

brisk you are right it is a separate and additional point for discussion and we should see what everyone thinks.

but, hypothetically, do you think cj licensed the cat video ad from the producer? it is tangential of course, but where do you buy a cat burning video?

I don't think they licenced the cat video from the producer. There's a possibility that they might not need to though.

I actually have no problem with that.. Like you said.. humans need to eat to survive... In a similar way.. making test on animals DO save alot of lives!! Its with those testing/research that they can alot of develop meds or simply test their safety... Would you prefer us to make test on humans..? Or being prescribed dangerous untested meds by your doctor..?

it protects gained freedom. you don't want your culture to degrade in any respect, that is why some poeple choose not to whatch it, and some agree that this shounld not be put out to the masses, and especially be comercially used. this is a form of censorship, don't you agree?

this is only a small portion of the issue, because some like myself beleive this should not be even done with video footage not without.
but then again this might be only way to learn anything in this world and to hope we will not get in the place of that kitty.

Or being prescribed dangerous untested meds by your doctor..?
Obviously humans benefit from animal used in medical research. But there are a lot of ridiculous experiments done just so labs run by big corporations and universities can suck up tax dollars.

There are also ways to provide basic decent treatment of animals that are used in labs. At least give them some comfort.

There are also lots of computer models that can get the same results as live animal experiments.

this is only a small portion of the issue, because some like myself beleive this should not be even done with video footage not without.
but then again this might be only way to learn anything in this world and to hope we will not get in the place of that kitty.
I still can't see how any form of censorship increases freedom.

Bingo. I dont see anyone complaining about rotten.com or other related sites that show gruesome/cruel content. Perhaps those complaining do not have an accurate perception of what kind of site consumption junction is.

i don't believe i said that censorship would increase freedom. if i said, the true intent was to say that censorship can protect already established freedom.

i don't believe freedom in itself can be increased, unless we're talking about partial 'freedoms'.

Yeh, I'm going to walk my dog.

The hardest part of living on this planet is its extemes. There are so many utterly beautiful things here, but also so many utterly horrific things.

I wonder sometimes how many more people this planet can support before it all implodes.

What's life going to be like when there are 20 billion people living here in the year 3,000?

Sometimes you have to taste the sour to be able to taste the sweet.

year 3000 - only US left, rest of the planet reserved for regeneration of more primitive life forms.

Me neither bro, but it'll still probably keep me up at night. That kind of blatant pointless cruelty horrifies me.

I knew there was a reason I liked you gleem. You got a good heart.

So the country that brought us Jerry Springer, Jackass, and Consumption Junction is the most advanced, and everyone else is primitive?
