Shoot, I get so many unsolicited phone calls from whois spammers it's not even funny. The last domain I registered I had someone leave a message on my machine in reference to it a day and a half later.

What is the right way to approach anyone about a product or service as a salesmen in this industry?

It seems as if anytime someone from our company hits anyone up on ICQ or emails them about a product or offer, its called SPAM.

Please, someone, anyone, tell me how any salesmen is suppose to market a product or service in this faceless industry of ours without being flamed.

Show me the steps, iI have no ego problems, I am willing to learn.

Marty

If its an expensive product like I guess the program in your sig is there are a limited number of buyers and you treat like any other business call them and set up an appointment, then either meeting them in person or talking to them on the phone.

If its for videopasscash I agree with TeenGoodFather have a person surf some sites take notes and mail the site owners with a personal mail, do a little checking so you donīt mail the webmaster that owns 20 sites 20 times.
Other things buy advertising on gallery submitters, on big tgp/mgps on the confirmation page after the submission goes thru. I always see the ad on Shemp.com for example.
Hire some board whores so everytime someone ask about a program with epassporte payout your link is spammed, or for hosted movie galleries and other topics where your program might fit in but make sure its someone who actually knows what they are doing and can speak/write english. Have some small contests on boards donīt have to be much just enough to get the attention of people and a couple of Ipods seems to do the trick these days make sure they are signed up to VPC before they are eligible to win. There are many small things you can do to brand your program and even with a limited advertisement budget results can be great.
Donīt know if it was for VPC you wanted info so Iīll stop here instead of going on for hours

And marty cut with the bs. You know damn well how to market sites/products. You've been doind a good job @ it the past two months.

With threads such as
" How do you think i sould market VOD"
In which you find it necessary to include a full detailed description of your product when no one asks.

Or

"How much should we sell Prodnix for"
You are really going to take advice from someone who posts on GFY? No you knew wht it cost to create it and you know how much you are selling for. Its Creative Spam.

"Affiliate Programs and Movie Sites with WMV Content...Did you know that you could"
Use Prodnix.... Blah Blah

"I offer the biggest webmaster pay-per-sale pay-out ever seen in the industry"
Just sell my 25k product Prodnix

Very diff from posting threads on here. Like I said in an earlier post, announcement threads are fine, as long as it doesn't get out of hand like the same announcement every day.

I do consulting on such things.
I've said it before, I like yu Marty your a good guy.

Selling to webmasters on Public boards comes LAST.
I do think it is like selling a Mercedes in the welfare office when resorting to sell to board audiences.

Ya put news in AVN? XBIZ? KLIXXX? Or other offline mediums yet?
Ya talk with other affiliates programs or companies that have a bank of webmaster's to place an add within cmmunicated emails?
Score out some SE traffic and direct traffic for business to the site that introduces your software to potential buyers?
You selling this prduct will most likely be to new peeps in this business or video companies in the Valley, reach out to them guys, the video companies in SFV alone can yield grips of sales if done right.

Oh and find some sales guy to tend the boards while you wrk every possible deal to the bone without being distracted

Fuck the people here, Most of em I do not give a mother fuck about anyways and attempting to get there love and any respect is VERY Pointless. Why do you think I enjoy lighting em up once in a while?

Marty the best way to spam without getting flamed is to do a contest pay a few bucks so the newbie's can buy there beer.

Don't worry about the flamers either. it's the lurkers your trying to reach.

One last thing what works best for me was picking up the phone. Which i know you do...

Change up your approach to appeal to different people.

Your a good guy I don't get it either sometimes. don't sweat the small things.

The online adult world is not the real world , when I worked for a mainstream dotcom I increased sales dramatically because the guys before just emailed companies .I found phone numbers and made calls, most in adult online are afraid of the phone and they consider trying to reach them online spam so its kinda fucked. Your not dealing with real business people for the most part lol.

I think several will be humbled when they discover what you have accomplished in this industry.

I would like to talk to you about doing something and i know last week we were suppose to discuss some things and you have my apology for not getting back to you it is a pretty hectic time right now.....

I have some ideas....may work....may not

The difference between spam and a sales pitch is how quickly you can convince the listener that you have something he wants.

In my experience, you have about 5 seconds to accomplish that.

That's via phone. If it's e, you won't get past the spam filter unless you can fit his full name, domain name, and a concise sales pitch into the subject. THEN the body of the e must quickly expound on the sales pitch.

With e, I'll guess that IF you convince him to open your e with a great subject, you then have about 5 seconds to convince him to continue reading. With luck, you'll get about a 3% response rate, and that's with every e being custom crafted.

I don't bother with e anymore, I phone.
