its way too late to jump on the mailing boat in my opinion. shit, i thought it was too late when i was doing it 2 years ago. aol and hotmail are all locked down, its hard as fuck to get into anywhere thats worth anything. sure you might make a couple hundred bucks a day but keep in mind you'll need money for proxies, servers, lists, headers, ect. its not cheap. ppl think you can just get this and that and let it go, but those days are gone. stability is nil for mailers unless you have a total custom setup. then you have assholes trying to rip you off left and right, fake opt-in lists, proxies that don't work, cracked programs with trojans in them. a true opt-in set up would be cool, if you could run it without proxies and not get blacklisted. you just have to be careful as fuck when you buys lists, half the opt-in lists are fake generated shit. you'd be better off building an empire of sites, im working on that now myself.

We have tons of memberlists but not sure if a line in the terms makes it legal to mail them. Of course we do newsletters, but I mean really mail them.

The really good mailers these days are no heat and legal.

And there are some that make my few hundred a day numbers look sad...

1000 a day ....on a good day.
500 sustained.No problem.

Funny thing is I can teach someone how to be a fully Can Spam Compliant mailer within hours. No proxies, no faked headers, nothing, and get into everything with ease and 100 percent legal. Even Hotmail's highest filters won't work.

The reality is that it would be the worst kept secret ever and it would ruin the market.

well guess what

it's the EXACT same thing as people outside of the industry seeing porn as EASSYYY money. well tell me, is it? is it really THAT easy to make money in porn?

mailing is a very complex and risky operation: where your costs are high and so are the possible number of problems you can encounter.

If you live in the USA or countries with strong anti-spam laws, there's another problem. And then you have Aol, Hotmail, Yahoo, Earthlink going out of their way to sue people, even if it means spending 500 000$ in order to sue for 50 000$

I know quite a few "mailers", and most of these guys wish they could make more than 200-300$ a day with what they have.

also, don't forget that you need to pay for your hosting, your bp hosting, your email lists, your proxies, your headers, and whatever else costs you have

people message me all the time asking me what mailing consists of, and I have one thing to say to them: unless you have a big load of cash and don't mind the risks of being sued and/or going to jail, this is def NOT for you.

I have seen people "start" spamming, and then drop it after 1 month because they have no idea what they are doing.

And let's talk about filters for a second: do you guys have ANY idea how powerful filters have become? Sure it was easy to make thousands a day mailing back in 1999, but we are not there anymore.
Filters are like brick walls, they check every little spec of detail on your setup and message, and tell you to fuck off.

And finally there comes the situation where you decide to make your "spamming" operation "clean" and "legal"... Well bad enough people didnt get through the first spamming phase, but now they want to be law-compliant, which is much more expensive.

Bottom line: only those who know what they are doing actually make the money... just like in porn... and yet how many people do we see that don't really know what they are doing, simply trying to duplicate peoples stuff, and praying to get a few refferals to make some extra money that way?

You're right about the last part, mailing is for people with money to invest and the know how to get started.

You're talking about kids with a cracked copy of darkmailer, some shitty lists and a couple hundred bucks to spend. Anythony and Nick talking about the guys with 25 direct mailing servers and the know how to get past any filter. Of course it's hard to be successful when you don't have the tools and you have no clue what you're doing. Of course it's hard to get into mailing when you don't have the connections. It's not like TGP where dummy-proof instructions are spelled out for everyone on ten thousand resource sites, it's never been like that. The fact is you can make basically just as much money mailing now as you could in the past, you just have to know what you're doing.

Frankly I couldn't earn a living from submitting TGPs etc etc. I don't have the skills in that area that many here do.

I was reading about DH selling partner accounts etc on his new TGP and frankly I was totally in awe.

That guy knows his business.

The days when you could hit 500 joins from a laptop whilst partying are long gone.(Anthony I know did in 2000 cause I watched him do it LOL)

Now it has to be done right.

But as there is only a few shemps, al4as, huns etc in the TGP there is only a few REAL mailers in the mail field.

And as there are loads of people in the TGP game getting 10 or so joins a week the same applies to mailing.

It DID become the fashionable way to try and make REAL money.

But like all things , by the time the masses are involved most of the gold has been mined out.

There's a big difference between spaming and double optin *adult* mailers... I tried sending 10,000 in early 2000 and received so many bad feedback from mothers, etc. that it made me sick and I felt really bad about it. It's simply not right.

But if anyone offers legal optin mailing, I would be interested.

I would guess I get about 5% of my ADULT mail that is compliant. Mainstream is alot more guessing again 70% compliant. Im not doubting your abilitys just commenting on whats in my inbox.

It's very dobable. One of the posters in this thread has his hotmail set for whitelist, and I forgot to take his email off my DB which he seeded (the bastard).

So, not only did my email go through his hotmail which was on the highest setting, but he also got to see how I did it, and has long cracked what algo's I was using. But, I can't complain too much, he did get me started in this biz.

You fucken tools. There was a guy making 20k/day and just recently he filed bankrupcy. Why? All the big corps sued his ass until he had no more funds. People still make good cash now a days but the big earners invest way MUCH more money then you think. Along with that you pretty much to have to become a ghost because to generate that will be insane heat. You will be served your papers in the matter of weeks, but I am not going to get into that.

So your best bet is to establish a "real" business, it will pay off in the long run. No need to worry about lawsuits and won't have to live your income day by day.

buddyjuf Guest Posts: n/a	people in the industry see mailing as the easiest way to make money. well guess what it's the EXACT same thing as people outside of the industry seeing porn as EASSYYY money. well tell me, is it? is it really THAT easy to make money in porn? mailing is a very complex and risky operation: where your costs are high and so are the possible number of problems you can encounter. If you live in the USA or countries with strong anti-spam laws, there's another problem. And then you have Aol, Hotmail, Yahoo, Earthlink going out of their way to sue people, even if it means spending 500 000$ in order to sue for 50 000$ I know quite a few "mailers", and most of these guys wish they could make more than 200-300$ a day with what they have. also, don't forget that you need to pay for your hosting, your bp hosting, your email lists, your proxies, your headers, and whatever else costs you have people message me all the time asking me what mailing consists of, and I have one thing to say to them: unless you have a big load of cash and don't mind the risks of being sued and/or going to jail, this is def NOT for you. I have seen people "start" spamming, and then drop it after 1 month because they have no idea what they are doing. And let's talk about filters for a second: do you guys have ANY idea how powerful filters have become? Sure it was easy to make thousands a day mailing back in 1999, but we are not there anymore. Filters are like brick walls, they check every little spec of detail on your setup and message, and tell you to fuck off. And finally there comes the situation where you decide to make your "spamming" operation "clean" and "legal"... Well bad enough people didnt get through the first spamming phase, but now they want to be law-compliant, which is much more expensive. Bottom line: only those who know what they are doing actually make the money... just like in porn... and yet how many people do we see that don't really know what they are doing, simply trying to duplicate peoples stuff, and praying to get a few refferals to make some extra money that way? Mailing is a full time job... Just ask any of the big guys (if you can find out who they are ;)

Frankly I couldn't earn a living from submitting TGPs etc etc. I don't have the skills in that area that many here do. I was reading about DH selling partner accounts etc on his new TGP and frankly I was totally in awe. That guy knows his business. And Rich ,You are spot on. The days when you could hit 500 joins from a laptop whilst partying are long gone.(Anthony I know did in 2000 cause I watched him do it LOL) Now it has to be done right. But as there is only a few shemps, al4as, huns etc in the TGP there is only a few REAL mailers in the mail field. And as there are loads of people in the TGP game getting 10 or so joins a week the same applies to mailing. It DID become the fashionable way to try and make REAL money. But like all things , by the time the masses are involved most of the gold has been mined out.

I tried sending 10,000 in early 2000 and received so many bad feedback from mothers, etc. that it made me sick and I felt really bad about it. It's simply not right. All the big corps sued his ass until he had no more funds. People still make good cash now a days but the big earners invest way MUCH more money then you think. Along with that you pretty much to have to become a ghost because to generate that will be insane heat. You will be served your papers in the matter of weeks, but I am not going to get into that. So your best bet is to establish a "real" business, it will pay off in the long run. No need to worry about lawsuits and won't have to live your income day by day.
