Very true, but please do not blame us for doing so.

How many US companies took down their German language versions or blocked German IPs when Germany passed the law that you had to have a face to face meeting to verify the buyer was 18 before selling them porn?

This crippled many German Internet porn companies, wondering how many US ones just picked up the extra members.

I think this deals with free content. I ICQed Louis about this.

Anybody who thinks this means the end of hardcore free porn & a boost to conversion ratios has lost their mind.

I haven't done freesites or thumbnail galleries in years, but now with the push towards softcore I will set aside some time or an employee to ramp up operations on extreme/hardcore freesites & galleries.

I'm positive I won't be the only one to crank it up to make a grab at the money the softcore guys will be leaving on the table...

I believe that's the intention as well. I'm not a Karup's affiliate, so this doesn't directly affect me.

But, I was just looking for clarification in the matter. Both Lightspeed and Karups have said that "As of June 23, 2005 anyone caught promoting our sites after that date using hardcore content and not complying with the new 2257 legislation will have their account closed."

I assume that they mean "using *OUR* hardcore content...", and not "using *ANY* hardcore content...".

It's a subtle, yet important difference.

I'm raising this issue on the boards, and not directly with the sponsors, as I see a lot of other programs taking cues from these two, and I want to make sure everyone gets it straight, and that there is no confusion on the subject.

This is a pretty darn good question. But each sponsor has their own way of doing things. I know a bunch of sponsors who would not have a problem with this. ( or shall I say have never had a problem with this) while others have been very adament that you use ONLY their promo materials so that the person who joins from your gallery is able to find the content that influenced them to make the purchase.

But I think the bigger picture is people freaking out about no free hardcore content. Let me just say that if you can not get your surfer to a Lightspeed or Karup's site without using hardcore images, you need to pick a new niche or leave the business. People are acting as if they can't get traffic to a sponsor without using hardcore galleries. That is absurd.

I agree with you 3piece. I believe softcore sells much better than hardcore. I'd love to see all free hardcore content go away.

But, I can't wave a magic wand and do that, so hardcore promo content will always be around. (Even if it's just a pussy shot, which I believe is considered explicit by 2257, and therefore "hardcore").

Hi, well this is not going to be acceptable unless we own that content as well. We cannot allow someone to promote us using content that is not in the site. There is no worse way to offend someone who just joined to see a model he just saw on a gallery and then signup and we do not have this model in the site. That not only causes chargebacks, but that screws over the customer who only joined in most cases to see that one model. All the other models that are in the site are a bonus, but the main reason/content he joined for must be in our site.

Very interesting...

Looks like your non-US affiliates have to bend over with the rest of them, not a brilliant business decision IMO.

However, please keep in mind that most (and I am guessing here), but most of these affiliates are buying this content from sources we buy from as well, therefore we will most likely have lots of this content in the sites already which would mean we would have the docs for them as well. And in that case you CAN promote us. And if we do not have this content we will most likely want to deal with the provider of the content if its any good. We are going to do everything we can to protect as many people and parties involved in this matter while still being able to allow webmasters to promote us and for us to operate our business.

Thanks for the explanation Louis. It's now crystal clear, and your stance is really the only option for you.

I agree with you here.

I think sponsors offering hardcore content will start to rise above the rest.
