And what about millions of their own people murdered?

As a russian jew, my parents brought me here (US) when i was very young. They came here in search of a better life. Maybe i was just too young to understand what was going on around me, but I remember a few times I came home from school asking my parents what certain words ment, and i also remember the looks on my parents face when they had to explain to me that words i was asking them to define were antisemitic terms that the other kids were calling me. But i spent the last 13-14 years living in NYC (i'm 20 now) and its all gravy baby

Germany - 3,250,000 dead
Japan - 1,506,000 dead
England - 326,000 dead
USA - 295,000
Canada - 42,000

Keep in mind these stats don't include civilian deaths.....

Why did Russia lose so many? Germany at the time was the world's most advanced army by far, using tatics that were unheard of at the time..... If I recall correctly Russia had some kind of a treaty signed with Germany... When Germany attacked Russia it must have really caught them off guard.

I don't think Russia had much of an Army in 1939 when Germany invaded Poland at the start of WWII. Less than a month after Germany invaded Poland, the Russians invaded Poland from the other side as well as invading a number of other baltic states. In other words the Russian Army - what little there was of it - was spread pretty thing. The last thing they expected was an attack from Germany, which they had signed a treaty with.

"SNOW" I agree about the Government thing, however government even in a dictatorship still has to have the support of the population.

The russians at StalinGrad were incredible. The Red Army did their part, but one of the reasons they lost 8million was because Stalin killed all of his good generals before the war, inept leaders aside the were able to pull it out, didnt hurt that Hitler thought the was a military genius and ordered the siege of stalengrad. The German Generals thought that they should have just gone around, and of course they were right.

As for the aguement that somehow eastern europe was better off under Stalin, rather than Hitler - hard to tell both were pretty shitty humans.

And there were approximately 16 million people butchered by the Red Army and other "committees" during the Reconstruction Reforms in the years after the revolution of 1917. The country was a blood bath for so many years...

As for the aguement that somehow eastern europe was better off under Stalin, rather than Hitler - hard to tell both were pretty shitty humans.

If the histiry courses in college don't even mention Armenian Genocide then how can anybody brought up in US know anything about anything. The educational system is very weak so there's no point blaming the people for not knowing. But it's amazing how uneducated the majority is. So, please spare us the argument that's backed up by nothing.

Although the movie is a laugh if you know what really went on there, it still gives a sense of my Russia lost so many during the war. And there were approximately 16 million people butchered by the Red Army and other "committees" during the Reconstruction Reforms in the years after the revolution of 1917. The country was a blood bath for so many years...
