I do. Last couple weeks it seems worse actually, may have to go in for another study soon if it doesn't change.

My mother has it really bad, a good friend has it as well, and i suspect i have it to a minor degree. So in researching it, the #1 recommendation has been to lose weight and I can say for myself this really helps. I've dropped about 15 pounds recently and my sleep has improved dramatically.

I had no idea what sleep apnea was and looked it up just now. I usually wake up at least once a night (not knowing why) and oftentimes, I wake up with the feeling "did I fucking sleep?!" and/or with a headache that just pisses me off all day.
LOL Didn't even know it was a medical issue... thanks for the heads up. |

But from what I understand, the extra energy you get from actually sleeping every night will make you want to be more active and I'll lose the 10 - 15 pounds soon enough anyway. I know I feel quite a bit better today than I normaly do. No headache when I woke up, my mouth wasnt dry as sand, I havent fell asleep all day or been irritable. And my concentration level is much improved. I'm looking forward to this. |

I had a motorcycle accident last august and spent a week in the hospital. The nurses would often wake me up at night and tell me to breathe. Really would piss me off after a while but they said my oxygen level was dropping too low and setting off the alarms at the nurse station. Then the Dr at the hospital told me I need to get checked for sleep apnea. I had other things to worry about at the time so I blew it off. In february, my friend's dad died. From sleep apnea. My friend kept bugging me to go get checked, so I did. |

My sleep study - I stopped breathing 190 times in 6 hours, the longest was for 45 seconds.
I could not handle the CPAP machine - it is said it 100% cures the 55% of people who can cope with it. For years I woke every single day feeling worse and more tired than I need the night before when I went to bed. I was almost narcopletic, falling asleep anytime I sat anywhere for more than 5 minutes. My snoring was legendary. July last year had the tonsils out. November had the nose completely rebuilt. I lost weight immediately after the tonsillectomy because I started to function more normally and sleep better. After the nose, I hardly snore and I sleep like I haven't since I was a teenager. Obstructive sleep apnoea ruled my life. Getting rid of it changed it completely. Life is good. ;-)

I had a uvulapalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) op a few years ago, which removed my tonsils and reshaped the soft palate. It has helped some, but it hasn't cured it. I tried a CPAP machine but I'd wake up gasping for breath because it blocked my nose. That short usage period fucked up my nasal passages for a couple of YEARS after that, it felt like my nose was blocked.
The only real option left is to lose weight. |

By the way, I'd been gasping in my sleep for a year or two and my wife never told me. All she said was that I snored. It wasn't until I shared a room at camp that someone actually informed me of this fairly serious issue......

I had it bad when I was fat. lol. I was 358lbs and never had a good night sleep. My wife had a hard time sleeping from the snoring, but when I stopped snoring she thought I was dying because I wasn't breathing. The few times I actually was sleeping without snoring she woke me up cause she was scared.
It didn't get better until I lost the first 75lbs. Since then I sleep great and barely snore.. Only when I am REALLY tired! I am down 150lbs now and slowly losing more again. ;-)

yea, I have it - it sucks but CPAP has helped a lot. It's still uncomfortable wearing a Darth Vader mask every night, but it's way better then the alternative...

Just because you sleep on your stomach doesnt mean you do not have it, it may help but its not a cure. After reading this post and talking to mr pheer i just caled my docotor for an appointment. I stop breathing in my sleep all the time my fiance says so i want to get this fixed. Im tired of falling asleep all the time.
