sometimes we're lucky enough to catch it in time. Sometimes we're too late and it ends in tragity

Agree Sleazy - there is a problem existing before a suicide. Could be a mixture of reasons - eg relief from anxiety, inability to cope, depression, drugs, ill heath, poverty (financial pressure) etc.

Only known three people who committed suicide - one a "star" in this biz where the reasons never were known, but poss related to depression. Another was a 30 something guy who happened to experience one series of bad events, one after the other. The third was a 50 something guy whose daughter killed herself via drugs - he just could not handle that.

Only people who have been close to someone who has killed themselves know what suicide means.

Those who commit suicide are those who, for whatever reason, feel that life is not worth living any more... and that could be for an infinite amount of reasons. Suicide has always existed and always will. It takes men and women, it takes the religious and it takes atheists, it takes the rich and the poor, it takes, white, black, yellow and every shade in between.

You cannot generalise about suicide - it is far too complex and personal for that.

Don't doubt depression plays a prominent role Paul - all kinds of events/incidents can trigger the depression.

Sometimes, least from what I've seen, it can be hard to identify depression as it was in most of the suicide examples above. The girl in the example appeared cheerful and bubbly, but in a quiet moment, elected to overdose. The 50 year old was hard as nails and appeared jovial on the day, but calmly drove 50 miles after work, booked into a decent hotel and killed himself. It's hard to predict what people may do

usually, but just in case suicide doesn't work, what then? My wife found her partner hanging in the tree, and she has astounded me with the strength she displayed at the time. He was planning it for a long time, and i say good on him, and anyone else considering such an action - oxygen, water, sustainable food resources and women are on the decline, so dont waste it - waste yourself. More for me.

I have a friend of mine that commited suicide when we were younger, he was def. very depressed, about what no one really ever knew, but he went from being the kid that played hockey with us, baseball and on a daily basis to not wanting to do anything, to staying in his room and not coming out at all. He took a shotgun off his fathers gun rack put it to his stomach and pulled the trigger with his toes at about 2am one Saturday night. It took less than 3 months for his down spiral.

Speaking first hand, because I have had issues with Suicide since I was younger, not sure if it was the curiosity of it, or something about it at that age, not really sure. But I was an active kid, plenty of friends, played every sport and just did my thing but I can remember thinking about hanging myself in my closet when I was younger, again not sure why.

Last year on July 7th one day before my Birthday, do to a chain of events in my life I decided I was going to slit my wrists, im sure the fact that I had been drinking which made me a suicidal mess that night played a huge roll in it. Someone very close to me was on the phone with me justn prior to me deciding I was going to do that, that person called the cops whom showed up a few minutes later. I havent done anything since that night and dont think about it much.

Know im happy that I didnt do it, I have an amazing son and daughter I would have been leaving behind and that alone kills me to think about, even today.

When it comes to this topic so many people have no clue, I have someone I know very well for over 10 years who has gone on to make comments that "People that try to commit suicide should die because their stupid."

Comments like that show me how fucking really stupid people like that are.

I lost one friend to pain - he just couldn't take the migraines and cluster headaches anymore and the drug additiction to pain killers it resulted in. No Dr. could help him.

Some people see no way out of a situation - they think their existance only hurts their families and friends so they take their own life. Solves one problem, but leaves a mess of others.

Before, i don't understand why there are people that commit suicide? But as time goes by and my world becomes broader -- I realized that there are several factors that will affect a person's mind that would trigger them to do as such horrible act.

People have different magnitude of understanding and different ways of executing things. We the sane ones may not understand their predicaments but what we can do is listen when they needed to voice out.

That's one of the reasons why they resort to put to an end their own lives because they think that nobody listens to them! Depression - right! Self-pity - they feel like their lives are wasted that even if their gone nobody will notice that their gone.

So sad but that's the truth unprevailed.

I understand there's depression, and all that goes with it - and my heart goes out to those that are in a bad way...

but some of us go through that shit, strap our shoes on, and get on with our day - living life.
