I quit november 22, 2008. Time was 3.15pm. Have not smoked since and I do not miss it. At all!

Congrats!..Alot easier said than done, I've watched and continue to watch many people close to me struggle to quit. In most cases its always been temporary. Good luck and stick to it!

Congrats on staying quit for so long now, gandalfuy.
Unlike others I dont recall the date or even month that I finally quit. It took too much effort for me to remember the details..even though I'd had a heart attack. But I remember the date of my heart attack. May 19th 2007. Quit date? Sometime in 2008.

When is the time to quit? Today.

Constantly telling yourself that you don't miss them won't make it true. Brutal honesty is the key to long term success.
I never hear reformed alcoholics say "I don't miss beer one bit"

I was trying to quit during the presidential campaign, and I remember John McCain giving a speech about health care, and the topic of smoking came up, and he said he quit in the 1980s, and still wishes he could have a cigarette sometimes.

I took comfort in that, because it means that wishing you could have one now and again is completely normal, and doesn't mean you're going to lose control and smoke one.

Anyhoo, congrats to the quitters.

I do want to quit but every time I tried before it was a disaster and I was a complete bitch on wheels the entire time.

You gotta get past the 3 day hump.

You won't be like that forever. It gets easier after 3 days, and the withdrawal symptoms go away completely by the 2 week mark.

I used to be afraid to quit because my only experience with "quitting" was being stuck on an airplane or a classroom or something where I had to go a couple of hours without one...and that was total hell, and I was afraid it would be like that for days or weeks if I quit altogether.

Truth is though, the "nicotine fits" only last 3-5 minutes max, and happen max 10 times a day. So if you can handle 30-50 minutes a day, for the first 3 days, of a bit of pain, you can quit.

(Although if I was forced to work for that pompous ass that you work for, I'd find a much faster way to kill myself than cigarettes)
