Playboy is a great brand, but they are spending money on the magazine and all the special editions that is not worth it. Forget stopping DVD production. The company would save a lot if they became an online media company instead.

The magazine has been in the red for years, while Playboy TV, Spice, Jenna and licencing the bunny/playboy brand to everyone.

Playboy need to push onto the Internet harder, why embarrassingly buy a mag when you can privately log into and buy access to a site.

They also need to strengthen the brand with some more BIG reality TV shows... Worldwide search for the next big bunny, get everyone involved, make it an event, leverage the brand...

Push to getting celebrities in the mags/on the net...

More TV shows.... MORE TV SHOWS...

PUSH the merchandise more... For some reason girls like to buy into being "sluts"... Capitalize on it more.

Stick to the very highest quality women - girls you can't find everyday on the net... PERFECT women... and celebrities (I hate celebs - but they get attention).

Too many companies almost seem to be blind with their product to me, typically those that were prosperous in the times, when the offer and ways how to market adult / porn was way more limited.

The ratio between people who Know the brand / people who PAY for the brand is obviously going the wrong direction.

On the other hand - check Hustler and their online division, Larry started seriously in online in 96 and also made a great move choosing WebQuest (I guess two years later) to care about their web properties.

Playboy is in the publishing / media business. The primary revenue stream for publishing / media is advertising. Advertising spending is closely linked to the economy. During an economic downturn companies cut costs. Step 1 is layoffs (since payroll is the #1 expense for most businesses), the next expense on the chopping block is sales / mktg expense (advertising, etc). In other words, the media business is very sensitive to changes in the economy.

not sure why people think playboy should survive and thrive without knowing anything about them, who's running the show, what their plans are and how they plan to adapt to a new media reality (which they ignored until they were bankrupt anyway)

If the mansion is not leveraged you could buy and sell the mansion and break even. Then put the full plyboy archive on the web and sell a decent membership to it. People would rebill for the ten years it takes to jerk off to it.

I won't own this share even if it were a buck. It had too much debt and chances are it could go bankrupt in this type of economy if bank aren't leaning money. However, I think the stock slide with the general market and in my opinion the sell off was excessive.

you make money in the stock market taking risks, those looking for stocks that have great numbers great balance sheets great everything will end up buying that stock at max price and not making much money, warren buffet always says "be greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy" and obviously if your goal is very long term investing like buffet (he rarely sells stock) is ok and yeah youd want to make sure they have the best balance sheet in town, this stock is cheap and once things calm down I see it moving up real nice, I mean at a buck or so a share take 5k and throw it in worst that can happen is you lose 5k but in reality I thinking it will be a 4dollar stock within a few months, given they follow thru with the steps they outlines in the last conf call (many things they already have started doing)
