I always carry a knife. If you carry a knife, after a short time you begin to wonder how you ever got along without it. It always gets a good workout openning boxes, cutting the strings that hold barbie dolls hair to the packaging, etc.

Usually carry a smith 38. it's small and hammerless which is great to just stick in your pocket. If I feel like strapping on a holster, I'll carry my Glock .40 or 9mm.

Yep. That counts. Not easy to deploy rapidly for self-defense uses, but you will need a screwdriver and pliers a whole lot more than a edged weapon for self defense.
