Ask yourself this. Out of the 10 dogs on that list, if you had to face one that was attacking you, which one would you be the least afraid of and which one the most afraid of.

For me I could care less about 1. a Dachshund. I'd pick that thing up and tie it into a knot before it got a second bite.

My biggest concern would 6. a Pit Bull because of it's biting power and tenacity.

If I was being going to be attacked I would be concerned about the Pit Bull, along with the Akita, Australian Cattle Dog and German Shepherd.

The least scary for an attack would be the Dachshund. I have heard that Chihuahua's do like to try and bite a lot. Not scary to me, but that would be scary to a child.

That was my point. The most aggressive on the list was the least threatening

An Akita coming at you would be scary too

There's a little old lady that has this HUGE, beautiful Akita that she walks over by my sister's house. The dog comes up to her shoulders in height so it makes the dog seem even bigger. Someday I'll get a picture of them walking down the sidewalk.

Top 10 most aggressive dogs.
10. German Shepherd - I thought this one would be higher, because of their use in police work.

9. Border Collie - I can see this. They face off against sheep much larger than they are every day.

8. English Springer Spaniel

7. Beagle - This one surprised me. My beagle demonstrates every submission posture known to man.

6. Pit Bull - Popular legend has it that these dogs are the most aggressive, but I guess they really aren?t, if the study is on target.

5. Australian Cattle Dog

4. Akita - I had also heard these were dangerous dogs, like the pit bull.

3. Jack Russell Terrier

2. Chihuahua

1. Dachshund - one in five owners reported that their dachshund had tried to bite strangers, and one in 12 reported that their dachshund had tried to bite them!
Great. My kids have an Aussie Cattle Dog, a JRT, and a Dachshund.

The only dog I've ever seen do a "death attack" was a Jack Russell..
Our Jack Russell went alpha on one of our shih tzus a while back... and literally sunk his teeth into the throat of the shih tzu.. and was trying to rip out his throat. The shih tzu spent the night in the ER...

Then when I pulled them apart.. the Jack Russell attacked me... taking out a half inch literal chunk of flesh from just above my elbow...

We started researching... and Jack Russells are terribly territorial... and there are lots of stories of Jack Russells killing house cats randomly... and things like that when their balls drop and they get all "alpha"...

We gave him to the ASPCA with a $100 donation... Told them he was extremely alpha.. and had attacked... They were going to put him under.. but the Vet at the ASPCA fell in love with him.. He's now a single household dog... who gets to go running in the park all the time..

So environment plays a huge part in a dog's actions.

Only one question out of curiosity. Why do so many pitbull owners give their dogs vicious sounding names?

Yeah I know. Irresponsible ownership. Totally.

Which I'm sure is the case in a LOT of dog attacks

exactly , so if they didnt have parents then there wouldn't be so many people killing their own kids more kids would be saved, in my opinion less dead children is better, unless you disagree and enjoy seeing more kids killed

You'd be surprised how much damage a small dog can do. the problem is they are smaller so people tend to go down to their level, allowing their faces to be closer for mauling. Sure, Pitts are formidable dogs, but any animal that's being aggressive can do massive amounts of damage given the opportunity. Doesn't take long.

Jacks can be VERY aggro and they are almost always dominant. I knew a jack that was the boss of a pack of 14 dogs on a ranch I worked at.. the biggest being a great dane, and the others all dogs that were labs or bigger. They wouldn't mess with the Jack, he latched onto their throats and wouldn't let go.

id put my money on a german shephard.

i know ive told this story here before...but man....i like it..lol

i saw our dog when we were growing up rip the shit out of some terriers...big ones but not pit bulls...some kind of english bull or something....anyway, they had been a problem all summer....and had attacked me and my grandmother...everyone.

and honestly i think our dog knew about it.

so these two terriers chased after us, and caught my sister first...and bit her in the legs as she was running, she screamed as they actually drew blood and was a semi serious bite.

that scream brought our big ass german shephard out of her dog house in one motion...she broke her chain like it wasn't even there, she just ran right through it.
she was up the hill and past me in the time it took me to take just a few steps back towards my sister....and she just charged into the first dog at full speed and basically slammed it with her chest and the dog went flying....she stopped on the spot and turned on the other, and bit it in the rib cage as it was still sideways to her...she shredded it and it instantly did not want to be around anymore and decided to high tail it out of there.

then she turned on the other and fucked his world up until he could get away.

other then that, i had never seen her show any kind of serious aggression ever...but man o man did she have it when she needed it.

so...yeah i think terriers are a problem dog, as they pop up all the time in the news...but i bet even a semi problem dog could be trained to behave if they were given a proper home.

dickheads who own powerful dogs should be charged when their dog goes ballistic
cause i think it is the owner
