I would go back to Cali in a heatbeat, but probably move to the San Diego area... seems a little cleaner then LA

AZ is not to bad and seems to be getting more and more popular, but gets kinda to hot for me during the summer.

Im not a fan of FL at all... to humid and to many old people

my id move to Cali

I would go to the state that has the best program for the degree I want. I would choose California first though. Then Arizona.

You should move to CALI for sure!

I live in orange county and I wouldn't trade it. People come here to vacation all the time. The weather is warm the beaches are filled with hot chicks and the nightlife is awesome too...

2k rent in Tucson would get you a 2.5-3k sq foot house, in the foothills, or something down south about 30 min past Tucson, with land and prob 3-4k sq foot. Rent or buy here, all about the same.

Racism wise, at least in Tucson, it's super mixed with the majority going to Mexicans. And the college really mixes up the races, and the hot girls Other than that, unless you play golf down in old people ville, you are set.... but you don't have to black for them to be assholes to you.

ive been to Pheonix and Scottsdale a few times and didnt pick up on any racism to be honest.

it depends where you want to live, but San Diego area will really cost you a bunch to live near the beach. I found a few places around Redondo beach that were around $2k within a block or two of the beach, plus you are close to Hermosa which is a nice hot spot and then find some hot rich women in Manhattan beach during the day

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sea...0&bed rooms=1

Honeslty, if i could live anywhere in LA it would be in Santa Monica towards the beach. I love that area but its really expensive and to get a nice pad your looking at $2,500 to $3,000/mo

Northern California. Nice and warm, no smog, no traffic, little crime. Rarely rains.

Along the lines of what TheDoc said, I spend $2,200 a month for a 3,500sf house in the foothills. As far as racism, there are a ton of black people here but like anywhere you will definitely find racists. Tons of how girls due to the U of A.

If you can stand the heat it is a nice place to live, it is already in the 100's but since I work from home it doesn't bother me too much.

If you like to party, often.. If you want higher end shopping, if you want higher end homes, clubs, bars, more of everything... including heat, then Phoenix would be home.

Phoenix is a huge city, where Tucson is very small. Take an hour max to drive across Tucson in rush hour. It's a rather calm city, calm living, huge ass amount of hippies too.

Club wise, Tucson blows balls. We do have some, they are mildly entertaining. Bar wise, Tucson rocks.. bar, after bar, on every corner, and most are actually great bars with great people in them. Same with food, some of the best food in the state in here.

Entertainment wise, Tucson has plenty of it, and what doesn't come here, is only a 2 hour drive away to Phoenix. At that, any parties, industry social events, friends, etc... Just drive up to Phoenix and stay the night.

Cost of living, Tucson for a city, is super cheap. Houses, land, food, entertainment, all of is cheap. No dust storms, always 10-20 degrees cooler than Phoenix, monsoons in the summer and 9 months out of the year absolutely rock weather wise, 300 days of sunshine, 1 foot of rain all year, most of it during the monsoons, 2-3 weeks of Winter.. It's heaven.

I also play golf.. year around.. and lots and lots of old people here to take money from. I have a few courses within 10 minutes of me, 50+ courses within an hour drive, 200+ courses within 2 hours. That would be why I live here.. and the weather.

You posted this in the 3rd post of the thread and made that decision in all of a span 9 minutes? Florida was dropped that quickly? You are an easy target with one response.

I used to live in Phoenix. Cost of living is decent. You can get a nice place for $2k a month. Just make sure you get one with a pool! It gets feakin' HOT there. You will leave pieces of burnt flesh on your metal seat belt buckle if you leave your car in the sun during the summer. If you can tough out some 120 degree days during the summer months, the winters there are nice.

Phoenix is also a 5 hour drive from Vegas, San Diego and even closer to Mexico.

Not really any racism that I ever saw unless you are a spicy illegal

Not sure what exactly you were looking for in regards to a map, but this Google Maps points out the location of a school closest to me:

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um...image&resnum=1

There are different side on Tucson which have a very different feeling. It pretty much depends on what you are into. I used to like to party a lot, eastside and westside can be good for that. I moved up North to get away from all of that though, it is VERY quiet up here and starting at about 8pm at night I can't hear shit. Hence if I had a party here you would be able to probably hear it a mile away.

If you decide on Tucson I know quite a few leasing managers at different complex's that I could put you in touch with. One is at Colonia & Hacienda Del Rio (if you want to look it up). But housing costs aren't that high here, you can usually get yourself a nice house for the cost you are looking to spend on an apartment. If you like to party, might want to check out places like Starr Pass.

I grew up in Tucson which is why I am not in Phoenix. Phoenix is too busy of a place for me, I visit there often, but wouldn't like living there. Traffic can be hell, people are assholes, etc.

I've lived / worked in all 3 states. AZ and FL would be #1 and #2 for me.

with the collapse of the real estate market in Phoenix, you can get some cheap rentals

CA is the best if you can afford it. There's a reason it's so expensive.

I moved from southern California to az about 2 years ago now, I like it here for the most part, only thing I don’t like is the heat.

Where I lived there was a lot of gangs, bad areas etc, where I live now in AZ,i have never seen graffiti or gang bangers walking the streets

But maybe i was just in a bad part of CA. It was ventura county, specifically oxnard. Moved to a town on the outskirts of phoenix on the west side called Surprise.

This is salt creek beach... only a few minutes drive from Aliso Viejo

I can't see the beach out my window but you can feel the breeze it's not too far and a lot of things to do. Also a great spot because I am right between LA and SD. Very affordable also... you should look around here.

Do not know enough about AZ to comment.
I do know that I could not think of many reasons let alone have any desire to live in Southern California. Also notice that it seems most people just think of Southern California as all of California. Even Rochard mentioned Northern California and I personally feel he barely even qualifies as Northern California since he is located in mostly in Central California. I do like both central and northern California though.

What about Vegas? Climate is similar to AZ, cost of living is cheaper than Cali, and LA and Phoenix are both a 4 hour drive. Plenty to do here!

Lived in Tucson for many years, and if I didn't live in Vegas now, thats where I'd be.

How would the cost of living be cheaper than California, or again are you just calling SoCal as California?

I live in Sacramento, California. I just visited The Phoenix Forums, and then spent a few days visiting with my Grandmother afterward. She lives in Tucson. I can tell you, Phoenix is really nice, Tucson is small and has a very industrial feel, but it is close to Phoenix for culture, and cheap, and I personally wouldn't trade either for California. Phoenix does have a really fun vibe, though, or at least the area around the Phoenix Forums does.

These are just my opinions after visiting.
