No drugs, no alchohol.

Just man up and fucking get onboard. No matter what, when you fly you must be prepared to die. Doesnt matter what drugs you take.

Look up the stats on NTSB. You should be scared to drive not fly.

i don't think peoples fear is that the plane will slowly skid off the runway and into the soft grass or into the snow.

Those numbers are a bit irrelevant if your concerned about a plane losing power in flight (KLM 867 which happened right in front of my house) , serious mechanical failure at cruising altitude (Alaska air flight 261), an in flight collision (Russian tu-54/DHL plane over Germany) and so on.

people need to man up and get a grip. its a fact that you will die. life is not permanent. just like a dog that's happily playing one second and then darts in front of the car the next and its over. you are no different than the bugs that are buried deep in the grill of your car. there doesn't have to be a reason. there doesn't have to be a purpose. there doesn't have to be a good explanation.

Being afraid to die is a bit absurd given that its affecting your quality of your life while your alive.

I am a bad flyer too, especially since the phoenix Forum, where I had very bad turbulences.

You make lots of sense and these are good stats...

BUT, at 45000 feet in the air when it start to shake like hell, you forget about them

I also take some pills to calm me down, I used to take ativan, but you need a prescription for that, Now I take 2 benadryls.....

2 Questions then :

1- Are Xanax a shelf product ?
2- Is it stronger than Benadryl or Ativan ?

Go to your closest regional airport and talk to a flight school. Tell them you're scared to fly and want them to assign you the gentlest, kindest instructor they have, then take a few flying lessons. Once you understand how an airplane works and see firsthand how much thought and effort goes into making every flight a safe one, some of those fears will go away.

adding to the above.... whatever you do... don't Google "student pilot crashes" because that will probably just freak you out.

I have been on a couple of 14 hour flights which can be draining, turbulence is scary to some but everyone will experience it when flying.

Think of this, you are more likely to die in a car crash than you are to die in a plane crash. Also I would be honored to be in a plane crash, amazing experience..... But I would like to survive it lol.

haha sorry but that's what I've always referred to them as. I guess the technical term is vertical draft, which ARE real. So once again, I hope you fucking hit one, just make sure you got your seat belt on so you don't snap your neck on the ceiling.

I agree that it's really helpful to use Xanax or some kind of prescription medication if you're really scared of flying, since sleeping through a flight is the best way to get through it. Movies are also a really great way to escape, or TV shows. I downloaded the whole season of Mad Men last time I flew, and it got me through!

Any advice?
and don't forget you could also hit a flock of birds, and that could bring the plane down.
