Also tubes have shitty quality. You know if people still used 17 in CRTs a 400 kbps clip from a tubesite wouldn't look so bad. On a 22 inch screen it looks worse than a old VHS tape that's been played 500 times. And on a HDTV forget it. Whacking at the computer isn't much fun. I can tell you for sure that a lot of regular porn purchasers actually like the process of sifting through tube sites and tgp's. It's part of their ritual. I used to track user behavior very carefully and many times people would find what they are going to get off to, bookmark it, look around for a while and come back to it to finish the deal.

Couldn't agree more. I'd rather DL a 1-2 min HD (1280x720) trailer that I find hot than DLing a full movie that I also find hot but the pixelation makes it not worth having around. Which for me is like 75% of what's on todays paysites. But that's just me.

Plus I have a plenty powerful processor and I still get buffering no matter what when streaming. Even directly from one of my own new servers with no traffic yet!

Does anyone actually stream video ANYWHERE on the net without constant buffering?

Maybe it's just me, but obviously the majority of Tube surfers either:

1) Stream with no buffering
2) Stream with only a little buffering and live with it.
3) Get shitloads of buffering but they aint paying so they sit there with bottled up tube vids because they are the main game in town.

Actually off my own server that is freshly set up with little traffic, I can get pretty good streaming. So it must have to do with traffic and not with my processor.

But I'm totally tied up on 99% of tubes and I would think a lot of surfers are too but apparently not.

And I also must say I have 1500 Kbit/sec or 200 Kbyte/sec pipe so I have enough BW to stream I would think.

When you talk about buffering, you talk about the % of loading, or the video is not "smooth" (skip some parts)? If it's a loading problem, then it's your connection speed.

If it's skippy, then it's your processor speed. But you probably have a really shit system if you're processor can't handle the crappy flash tubes

If you want to test your processor for HD videos, go to apple.com/trailers and try to watch a 1080p trailer in full screen.

If you want to test your processor for HD videos, go to apple.com/trailers and try to watch a 1080p trailer in full screen.

It will load up fine and fairly quick, start playing maybe 3 secs and stop, Then I guess buffer as I simply am not DLing at a fast enough rate. Like I say I have around 200KByte/sec when I'm fresh.

And my proc can play HD just fine locally.

I always assumed the servers just cant't really stream or feed me fast enough to truely stream without interruptions. But I guess some of you can stream.

My proc is a "intel quad 2.4 Ghz x 4, 4 core, 4 logical processors". (paraphrased)

About as big as is around so I aint running on no PS3 .
