So you're saying get rid of Obama and get rid of the problem?

If anything, I thought that Obama taught us that the President is nothing more than a figurehead.

Actually, come to think of it, Bush, too.

America was so worried about changing the President that they forgot Congress.

We need a shuffle come November. A VERY BIG SHUFFLE.

I dream of a world full of technology (which we already have) where the common man can vote on major issues. Keep Congress around for the petty things, but for the things that get people riled up (like health care), leave it to a national vote. Hell, install the voting booths in Redbox, at McDonald's, Starbucks and welfare offices ... that would probably cover 99% of the population, no?

No, I didn't say get rid of Obama. If he was doing a good job I would be supporting him. Except he's failing in every conceivable way.

Bring back Reagan! Oh wait

I do think that a mixture of Peter Schiff and Ron Paul will re-energize our economy.

Here is the ONLY reason why I will NEVER vote for a Republican:

They cannot stay the fuck out of my bedroom and out of my everyday life. If Republicans were interested in giving me the personal rights that they CLAIM they are for, I'd align right in a heartbeat.

I've always been fiscally conservative and socially liberal. My personal rights are more important to me than spending and always will be. As long as the "right" thinks that they are "morally right," the left will get my vote.

When it comes to health care, the only requirement should be that anyone that wants to pay for insurance should be able to. That means no denials for pre-existing conditions, no lifetime caps (the real death panel the Republicans scream about), etc.

That's cool. I'm still not sure at what point I would ever vote Democrat.

Sorry but that is incorrect, infact the total opposite is true.

Quality healthcare is so much cheaper in other countries we now have the case where Americans are traveling overseas to get stuff done and even if they dont qualify for the free care they are still paying a ton less. Its called medical tourisim or something similar. I have experienced a variety of medical care in several free healtcare countries and also America. Virtually no difference between the healthcare except the cost.

Only in some very rare occasions is it worth going to the US to get care, and those situations usually only revolve around medical trials and very rare or new procedures.

If this was truly the case, then you wouldn't tell me I'm wrong, based on nothing. Of all the people I've met from other countries, the majority of them were unhappy with universal healthcare and in many cases, came to America for healthcare. If you can't prove something then you can't tell someone they're wrong.

in 06 democrats took over the house and senate on the promise of change, that's when the housing market started to fuck up
in 08 Obama promised change and with the power of a democratic controlled house and senate, he got how much done in a year?
Now in 2010 one seat gets changed and you think the Republicans are in control?
The last time the country was in a really good place was at the end of Clinton's presidency with a GOP controlled house and senate. It's called a balance. Clinton had to change his path as presidency or loose in 96, which he won! and the country was in a good place, well except he almost got impeached.
Later this year, the democrats are going to see what happens they don't remember history and they are going to loose their jobs, we'll have a GOP house and senate, with a democratic president and Obama will have to change his path or he will look the fool and loose in 2012.
Then Hopefully we can get back to business of getting this country running right. Either that or get a new president like Reagan !!!

Not true. Lots of Canadians come to the US for care when they need a specialist or have to have surgery. I know people in England that are on a two year waiting list to see a specialist. I am sorry but universal healthcare is only going to make us all wait longer to see doctors. There are doctors threatening to retire if this passes. We already have a doctor shortage. I don't remember heathcare being a right. I guess owning a car and a house should also be rights and not privileges.

Really?

Oh shit.

That's a high turnout for a non-presidential election.

The people of Massachusetts have spoken. A very blue state, nonetheless.

Please educate yourself on facts before you contribute to discussions like this.

It took me 2 seconds to find this ..

http://www.health-tourism.com/medica.../usa-research/

http://healthcare.change.org/blog/vi...outside_the_us

How many came to America for treatment ... there are a few hundred thousand a year, as i mentioned mostly for cutting edge care, trials and care not offered in other countries. For basic health care .. dental, surgery, general health care its all outbound traffic. Thailand, Canada, hell even Mexico and South America are proving to be popular destinations for Americans. Hell you guys even have an association for medical tourism set up to cater to the estimated 1 million americans who will seek care outside the US this year because of costs. Its big business.

An estimated 300-400k people will seek care in the US in 2010 from the entire world.

An estimated 1 million Americans will seek treatment and care outside the US in 2010.

Not one way, i overstated it, but definitely quite telling. 3 lanes outbound, 1 lane inbound.

Can you show us where on the Constitution or Bill of Rights it mentions that government provides healthcare?

I must've been raised completely differently than you... or have a heart or something.. I can't see how a human being doesn't think that healthcare could be a right. I just don't. Any way I look at it, my brain pleads with me a million and one reasons why it IS a right... and should be a right.
in the entire history of mankind, healthcare has never been a right. it now, because people WANT it to be, is CONSIDERED to be a right but thats about it.
Additionally, you, who can not pay for your own "right" need to decide what you're willing to give up for you so called "right"
My family should not have to give up what I've worked for because you think you deserve what you can not afford.

I HAVE educated myself. You came in the discussion with no proof. That link you provided and http://www.modernhealthcare.com/arti...1/SUB/70927008 shows you that it most certainly is not a one way system. We also house about 300 million people where Canada house a little more than 33. Stop comparing apples to oranges.

Yeah, but they needed a 2/3 vote to boot him and didn't get it, but yes he was in fact impeached. The vote went right down party lines

Watching the news this morning, interesting the spin the democrats are putting on this, they need to stop the spin and get the message or be unemployed

The president needs to sit down with regular doctors and listen
The president needs to sit with GOP and dems and come up with a simple plan with no pork spending for every American to see and understand
The president needs to tell the unions and SEIU they have no voice in this, it's about the American people.
The president needs to act like he works for the American People
The president needs to watch the video from his campaign and remember his promises

This is exactly what the majority of people wanted. They wanted the government TO SLOW THE FUCK DOWN. But the dems stepped on the god damn gas pedal. This is blow back.

Not only did Mass elect a Republican, they elected a god damn NEO-CON. That is how much Obama and the progressives have fucked up.

That is high for a presidential election. I would only expect a turnout like that if the election was for a tax increase.

You dont understand that's why people get elected from states. Is to get things from wash for their states. That's contracts, funding, etc call it pork call it whatever you like. But thats the system. The GOP will not sit with him because they want him to fail, they will not work with him. When they were in control I dont remember them working with dems, it was push it thru and I actually respect them for that. The GOP has got balls which the dems dont have.
Doctors will tell him, the insurance companies dictate what they can and cant do. If you think your doctor has free reign and youre not a all cash customer ,your kidding yourself.
Obama has been a huge disappointment to me because he is George Bush lite, if you toss all the partisan bullshit aside. Nothing has changed,it same old same old.
If you think everything would be all roses under Mccain your kidding yourself. It would be pretty close to exactly the same except maybe we would be at war with iran.

I love how people are saying "this sent a message to Washington".
This wont change shit. Republicans are power hungry assholes and democrats are retards. One party gets in, fucks everythign up, and people get frustrated and vote for the other party. Then they other party fucks up and people vote the first ones back in.

it really is the difference between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.

No party does shit for anyone. They make promises, get in office, and do nothing.

I do think healthcare should be a basic human right, especially in the wealthiest, most powerful country in the world. It makes us look bad when so many other countries are ranked higher in health care, and also in free market economies. We could use some improvement.

I don't think the Democrats nor the Republicans are going to repair this anytime soon.

The dems had the pedal to the metal because they knew they would probably lose their super majority in 2010. It was pretty much now or never as far as getting real health care reform and they knew it.

Indeed.

The question now is where did the dems go wrong. It's my feeling that they didn't go far enough. The voters (or a lot of them in any case) wanted health insurance that was both more affordable and more inclusive. What the dems offered instead was a law requiring everybody to buy insurance that was sure to cost more, a lot more. It was a giveaway to the insurance industry plain and simple.

Add to that the fact that Obama has done nothing to clamp down on the abuses on Wall Street and in the banking industry and it's no wonder that the voters have turned on him.

That's the real irony here. The voters are pissed and they want blood but since they can't punish Wall Street, AIG or the big banks they're taking their rage out on the party they see as having betrayed them.

The democrats had an opportunity the likes of which they might not see again for another generation.

Thing is, the Republicans don't have the answers either and enough voters know that to keep them from ever getting the kind of power the Democrats just had.

Like I said, new game, new rules. Welcome to the era of gridlocked, do nothing government.

You judge Reagan on a report he ordered about the porn industry that has nothing in common with the industry now?

He ended the cold war
He ended over 10% unemployement
He delt with bank problems
Many feel that his programs lead to the boom of the economy of the 90's
Yeah I want him back

he would know how to fix this mess, too bad Obama doesn't look at his lead!

Amen to that. Regan was my favorite president, he did so much for the economy and jobs, and he didn't take shit from anybody. Him and FDR are at the very top.
