I have zero debt...other than one credit card I use for on line purchases...which I pay off monthly. I own everyhing I have. I do not have a wife or children and I usually spend between $1000.00-$2000.00 per month probably with an average of around $1500.00 per month.

I always ask myself how are Euro guys doing to survive, still working in a decadent business, specially in UK, one of the most expensive countries in the world.

Since Euro is shrinking now, maybe a few central euro guys are still doing fine, but if you need the pound, wow.. I would pay to sit on their desktop for 8 hours one day and see what kind of magic they do...

While I'm home I can live off $500/month I think.
When I'm travelling expenses are higher, but not much

How the hell can all of you guys have so few bills? Are you all living with parents or room mates and no overhead? Most of you listed at most four or five items or a pretty vague description adding up to a paltry monthly budget. I wish I could live as simply as some of you. I don't live extravagantly but my list is almost twenty items long: rent, health insurance, electric, city water, phone/DSL, satellite tv, alarm service, gym, car payment, car insurance, cell phone, groceries, nutritional supplements, contact lenses, gasoline, house cleaner, newspaper, some entertainment expenses plus one credit card payment. That's easily $3500 per month for me without taking into account business expenses like employees, domains, hosting, software & services.

I obviously spend more money than I listed in this thread, I figured the point of the thread was to show your bare minimum... I'll answer the first question though, house is 100% paid off so no rent or mortgage

health insurance - live dangerously
electric/city water - listed
phone/DSL, satellite tv, cell phone - 1 cell phone which I barely use, have basic cable so I can have internet
alarm service - nope
gym - nope
car payment - paid in cash
car insurance - $160/yr here, didn't feel like mentioning
groceries - listed
nutritional supplements - lol that's pretty elective
contact lenses - got lasik this year
gasoline - not really a "living expense" imo...
house cleaner - clean my own place thanks
newspaper - lol?
some entertainment expenses - defeats the purpose of thread
plus one credit card payment - not an expense but rather a method of transferring money

I think people in this thread are confusing elective pleasure type expenditures with expenses... More people should think outside the box though and discover what they can live without Different way of thinking and approaching life really.

Need about $3000 to $3500 a month. That's for bills, food, travel (I travel quite a lot), 2 cars, boat, my expensive hobbies (technical diving and flying).

Your list includes a lot of luxuries that many people do not purchase.

Rent: $460
Insurance: From work
Electric: $70
Water: $0
Gas: $20
Cable/phone/internet: $160
Alarm: $0
Gym: $0
Car: paid off
Car insurance: $20
Cell: $0
Food: $300
Vitamins: ~$0
Gasoline: $20
Contacts: $0
House cleaner: $0
Newspaper: $0

I never understand why people think that if someone else spends less money than they do that person must live a shitty life. It doesn't make sense. Simply a different lifestyle. A lot of your expenses I have absolutely no need for.
