Sick of hosting companies who say they have 24/7 LIVE support, but fail on weekends!!!

I am sick of hosting companies who sell me managed servers, and when the weekend rolls around their so called 24/7 live support is useless, and can't get ANYTHING done!!!

I have urgent migrations that need to be done, scripts require certain libs and other apps installed on server to function... WHY do I have to wait till MONDAY when they advertise 24/7!!!

Please SPAM ME with REAL hosting companies, who offer REAL, PROMPT, PROFESSIONAL support truly 24/7!! WEEKENDS INCLUDED!! via live chat!

Phatservers fixed a corrupted database for me yesterday. Within 10 minutes or so like usual. I can't say enough good things about them.

(edit: i guess I am supposed to call them amerinoc these days)

I don't want to name any names because they do have live support, but its tech guys, nice guys, just not system admins who can right away jump on the server and install libs, and dependencies and what not...

During the week its no problem, the system admins must be working then.. but on the weekend, all hell breaks lose, which really sucks for me because I just end up stressing when something won't run because some software is missing and needs to be urgently installed.

I'm with Amerinoc. And even if today is 4th of July they went out the way when I decided this morning at 7AM Pacific that I wanted to buy a new dedicated with them. Sales helped me with a quote within 30 minutes or so and not two hours later my new server is online and fully operational, and that included a mention of them being lightly staffed today due to 4th of July! Two hours is still much faster than I had expected. Right now they are also moving a few things and set-ups for me. Paid in full, fully operational and things on their way, and only friendly people at sales and the techs all the way - you know who you are - THANKS!

I usually get unmanaged servers since I am able to manage my servers myself but I think when many speak of 24/7 support they are referring to emergency support not support for things like installing dependencies. Some also outright lie about it. Chances are if they only have one or two techs they aren't going to be able to offer 24/7 full general support. Most techs will resent getting paged at 3am on a holiday in order to install a memory upgrade or a custom ffmpeg. Unless they are getting paid very well. More techs makes this easier to do.

Wow. I would like to know who you are hosting with. Although with unmanaged, you may have some different level of service that the hosts do not like to provide for those clients. I do only managed web hosting, and we do every little thing you need from scripts, tweaks, and 24/7/365 support.

It seems as if all the hosting companies that promote directly the adult community are the worst. Nearly every I have seen at shows or posted on the boards are overly priced or have had issues. People believe the "adult friendly hosting" line as if it means anything.

As a smaller player, I have been selling over 10 boxes per month the past few months. I've also picked up business from MODS at the WF, and WHT forums. So I guess we are doing something right.

That said I guess a lot will come down to what you need to be honest. Some host have new warranted boxes, others have super duper cheap bandwidth, some have awesome support and response times but nickel and dime you on everything. Others have superior support, and you are going to pay through the nose for it.

If one thing is really low, they are typically cutting from somewhere else.

It does mean something as there are many hosts who actually have it in their terms that they do not allow pornographic material. Really you don't want to host with such people if you can help it. The number of hosts doing this are far less than there once was. Most gladly accept adult as long as it is legal.

That said, yes, generally I notice that hosts who market directly to adult webmasters tend to be a little pricier but not in all cases. To be fair I notice that many people here expect a lot of hand holding (managed servers, support) and adult sites often tend to pull more resources than vanilla sites.

Join the club, I have been severely disappointed with webhosts that promise the world but fail to deliver. Thinking of switching to one of those off shore "questionable ethics" hosting companies, at least I can get decent uptime and speeds even if they serve less than reputatable clients.

They have a full staff on 24/7. I've been to their offices, it's staggering. Call them at 3am their time in Atlanta and count how many rings it takes for them to pick up the phone. I'm not talking about how long it takes for them to respond to a ticket or email, but how quickly they pick up the phone and your instantly talking to a live human if needed.

I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend WAY3. They are absolutely fantastic. I was on a conference call just now and needed detailed info (that I should have been able to get myself, but I'm a touch removed from the project) very fast while others were waiting on me to respond, and Chris had it for me within minutes when he could have easily left me to it had he been like a lot of other hosting companies. Always been great over the years.
