Sponsors are looking to maximize profits as much as affiliates, so you can't really blame them for upselling. My suggestion for you would be to start your own paysite(s) and funnel your traffic to those. I believe it's fairly cheap to get a CCBILL site up and running these days. And content has never been cheaper.

You want 50 or 70 percent of the sale maybe more if a webmaster referred you and that leaves the company with say 20 - 40% and they have to pay for hosting, advertising, staff, new content, updates and lord knows what else. Stingy fuck. They do this to offset the costs of paying idiots like you too much.

Yes, since an epic shit ton of sales come in because of affiliates that aren't credited to affiliates. Decent sized programs make millions a year on 'lost' referrals of some kind. Paying 100% of profit is well worth it if you can swing the initial outlay which is fuck all these days.

I worked for a Chevrolet dealership also, and after I sold them a unit I never tried to send them to a Ford dealership to buy another unit.

I wanted them to stay with me and when it came time for the customer to buy again I wanted him to come back to me.

Unfortunately in todays world you not only have to sell the customer but you also have to sell the affiliate.

My affiliates don't have to worry about any traffic leaks.

Most affiliates feel way more comfortable sending their traffic to a sponsor with no leaks.

Again we are talking revshare.

So you might make more per membership with upsells. But I might attract more affiliates/traffic and make more memberships by not having leaks.

Either way I really don't believe what you say and I think your full of shit.

All I hear you talk about lately is how great you are and how you are making more money now in todays market than you ever have in years past.

A banner here or there or a link to webcams is not a big deal. An "upsell" is a choice, it's not forcing them.

Nothing you say will change the fact that many people have a limited amount of money they can spend on porn and you (most sponsors) are selling themselves short for a few extra bucks up front. If you have only one paysite and you send a customer to someone else there is a chance they drop your site because they like the other one better. If you have multiple sites and send a customer to a competitor it might limit the money they can spend on your future offerings. Also, when a customer gets pissed at 14 different companies rebilling them they will cancel all of them.

There is nothing you can say to justify sending customers to your competitors. It is shortsighted and stupid unless you are done with the business and just looking for a quick payday.

But since you want to use sandwiches... the difference is that porn consumers will eat more than one sandwich at once at any given time. Not any one shop can satisfy their hunger. Many theories just don't work in adult, you never know what will work and affect sales/rebills if you don't try it out. I always analyzed stats very closely and I tried everything, I didn't see any difference in retention/rebills with and without upsells. Not even a bit!

If they don't upsell how do they put food on their tables? I been in hundreds and hundreds of members area and i would say 90% have upsells to dating or even other paysites its just how it is and how it always has been. This is nothing new.

I think people who upsell do so because they realise that their content alone cannot sustain the member long term and as the member will end up going somewhere else anyway, why not give him some ideas as to where to go, and get a share of his future purchases.
