This is a game changer. The implication are huge. A lot of you already see what doors will be opened for us, and how mainstream will take note.

Kev, great job! When this takes off, there are a lot of people who will be benefiting from what you started.

Instead of trying to think of companies that WON'T buy advertising because it's a bad fit to begin with, you should be thinking of the ones that would fit.

Why would a movie starring a "nun" character ever even get MADE to begin with, much less advertise on a porn site! lol

No, the "heavy dose of reality" is that there ARE lots of movies made which would fit perfectly with advertising on porn sites. And some that don't.

For instance, I'm sure that "The Hangover" did targeted advertising in different places than "The Passion Of Christ" did.

Also...again I say that the cigarette industry is a multi-billion dollar industry with NO advertising outlet. The govt. has shut them down everywhere. They have been reduced to hiring girls to go out to nightclubs and hand out free sample packs of cigarettes and coupons for more cigs.

That is the big monster that I'd love to snag for advertising on porn sites.

And then there are the liquor companies.

And here in Vegas there are billboards for doctors in California to get you "legal" so you can buy pot. And how about plastic surgeons that do boob jobs?

The "heavy dose of reality" is that there are lots of advertising opportunities IF things worked out well for this first step.

No, I don't expect us all to make millions tomorrow because of this. But I do see it as a first small step. It could go absolutely nowhere. Or it could lead, down the road, to something bigger than we've ever had before.
I certainly see the value for both mainstream and adult working together and it would be mutually beneficial. However, going by what Tony404 posted this can hardly be seen as mainstream crossing over if the person(s) responsible come from the porn side to begin with. It sounds like the porn side has managed to get into mainstream.

There's a reason most newspapers don't accept ads from adult and that's the same reason most if not all mainstream advertisers shy away. At least for now.

You and I are about the same age so we've experienced the same things that have changed over time. We grew up watching I love Lucy where they had to sleep in separate beds on TV and now on the Bachelor he gets to romance 10 girls in prime time almost to the point of softcore porn. The fact that people like Pam Anderson and Paris Hilton can have sex tapes and still be accepted by the general public shows a growing tolerance for adult and I think the internet has played the biggest part of all.

There's a huge wall society has built between mainstream and adult and no one thing will bring it tumbling down. It's going to have to be dismantled brick by brick and time will tell what part this has in it's demolition.

I'm not dissing the idea, I just question whether it will have any impact anytime soon.

Well, opening up a new advertising market isn't exactly a "marketing scheme" and I can think of several movies that came out recently. The movie doesn't have to be about porn in any way at all. Why would it need to be?

The only thing is it has to be targeted to the audience. So no, you wouldn't pay to advertise a children's movie on a porn site. Just like you wouldn't pay to put an ad for it in Maxim magazine.

But pretty much any adult comedy or action movie or sci-fi movie that isn't primarily for children could definitely benefit by having their trailer on porn sites.

It's all about effective targeting and marketing.

Of course, they could just all say "no way" like they always have. Or this could be the first baby steps towards something new.

No reason at all for this weeks "Dinner For Schmucks" or "The Other Guys" not to be running their trailers on porn sites too. Or that stupid new "Pirahnna" remake.

Millions of eyeballs waiting for them.

Robbie is correct when he says liquor and cigarettes should advertise on porn sites. Tattoo parlors, head shops, all kinds of places should. But aren't there 'rules' with Visa and other CC's that they won't process 'mainstream' orders thru a porn site?

When George Lucas is putting ads on your thieving site, let us know and I will bow before you in awe. In the meantime, you got a movie made by a porn guy, about porn, put on a porn site that built itself by stealing everyones movies. Not really something to pat yourself on the back for, it's not that impressive considering who made it and what it's about.

The only impressive part is how many bro-ass kissers there are in this thread. You are personally contributing to the demise of the adult industry and are getting praise for it.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

I seriously doubt that Chris Mallick even realizes that buying ads on Pornhub could be seen as a big "fuck you" to his long time friends and supporters. I bet he hasn't read GFY in years.

I've seen the movie. It is pretty good. I wish Chris and crew all the best of luck with it.

Thanks's for basically spitting back the fucking point I was making.

Where did I ever say that it would only work for Porn related movies? The movie I mentioned has nothing to do with porn. It's something that could be easily marketed like "Middle Men" is being right now.

It's got sex, drugs, violence, big stars and the restricted red band trailer. Perfect for this type of marketing.

You got a guy with a porn background smart enough to advertise a porno style movie on pornsites. This is hardly the start of anything big and I really doubt you will see this happen again.

Only time will tell. One things for sure...you have no idea what will happen and neither do we. But this does indeed have the potential to be a game changer. Just maybe not for you?

Big move for KB and all, but am I the only one here who doesn't exactly see advertising a movie about internet porn, on and internet porn site, as a real big leap for mainstream/adult crossovers in advertising??

Male acai , as shortly lived as it seemed to be, was more of a mainstream to adult bridging of markets than this...

No you're not the only one who doesn't see it.
But that doesn't mean it's not there. I see this as VERY big because of my own attempts over the last 13 years.

Again...what would stop ANY film aimed at adults ("The Hangover", "The Expendables", "Dinner For Schmucks", etc.) from following suit? If this works out successfully they would be crazy to NOT get in on what is the cheapest advertising they could possibly get (when compared to the rates they pay now).

And again...perhaps this might help to bring in THE big player: cigarettes and alcohol.

Or maybe not. But everything has to start somewhere. And the Acai Berry b.s. isn't even in the same league as this.

I guess the big step is that it's happened and it got press for happening. So some non adult companies looking to tap into a big "over 18" audience can get the idea in their head that it's a possible direction for their marketing department. It's also easier to pitch these companies showing the proof that a major motion picture has recently done it.

It's a stepping stone in the right direction.

No they can't. You're marketing to leechers. Leechers know where to find those movies on torrents and newsgroups for free, that's why they are on those tube sites. To get stuff for free.

Google Middle Men Torrent or any variation and get that movie for free! No problems.

It's everywhere.

Thanks to Middle Men, Mallick, Pornhub and now the OP, the mainstream movie business will never touch anything remotely associated to adult. Not that they ever would anyhow, but just making a point. That Hollywood studio is embarrassed to it's peers now that that Mallick's ePassporte story is all over the studio B2B world, and none of the rest of them want associated for sure.

This may be one of the biggest backfires ever.

i guess someone forgot to let the cat know it was out of the bag. Either that, or the cat suffocated in the bag and is just lying there dead.

I love the first line from that article:

Quote:
Hollywood studios don't advertise their movies on adult websites, but that might change if this indie about the rise of Internet pornography succeeds with the strategy.
This thread = fail!

So yeah, if Kevin can take that huge ball of traffic that Mansef/Manwin has thus far been unable to monetize very well (how can they? paysites aren't gonna sell that great off of it for obvious reasons and cam/dating is played out) and sell prepaid ad spots to mainstream...then that is going to open up opportunity for ALL of us.

Even with my comparably small traffic I could easily see a very nice paycheck on prepaid ads if this leads to other companies following the lead of "Middlemen"
oh really?
lets see, these guys got all them tubes with free porn = more traffic than god, why the fuck they would share with you? the ad buyers are interested in "more traffic than god", translate the traffic from the free sites..
then again i am sure they are willing to sell you an adspot on their freesites for your paysite

One thing has nothing to do with the other.
The guy bought ads on a tube site.

What does that have to do with Epassporte?

Second, the movie was shown in 7 cities.
How do u expect millions of people who saw the movie trailer scattered across the world to go to those 7 cities to see his movie?

U can't.
His movie will make money once it hits DVD and PPV.

I am not his PR guy nor am I involved in the movie, I am just saying that you guys have no idea what you are talking about, and it's why I dont waste my time here any more.

You just pulled off a game changer there buddy. If this works out well for "MiddleMen" it could be the start of a new revenue stream that has eluded all of us since the mid 1990's.
Wait, you run ampland? Damn that was the first porn site I ever beat off to. Thanks, buddy
