I cut that crap out of my diet a couple of years ago because I didn't like how it made me feel, and unexpectedly started dropping weight like crazy.

Killing people off is one thing, but poisoning everyone with aspertane, msg, high fructose corn syrup, etc... that method just feeds the healthcare system and big pharma.

Semi-off-topic... I think the age of retirement should go up one year, every 5 years (66 next year, 67 in five years, 68 five years later, etc.).

As long as people are not dying off at 70, as was the average when the retirement age was set to 65, then upping the retirement age is a no-brainer.

Unfortunately interest rates are currently set too low, the unemployment age is too low, and many taxes need to go up a bit to help remedy problems (SS, unemployment, etc.).

Whoever implements these changes will be crucified however, so we all fight amongst ourselves to maintain the status quo, while we continue to point fingers, all the time ignoring the 800 pound gorilla in the room.

Crazy shit...

I do believe that fruit juice is good for people for several reasons:
- In one of my squirrel experiments, a squirrel licks juice when juice is spilled on ground.
- A large colorful grafitti on a wall near a basketball court says "Juice."
- I drink juice and it gives me energy because of carbohydrates.

However, do not overdose on juice. You will see on the juice label information that says "100% daily dose."

Yes, definitely. It's in almost everything here. You can find milk with HFCS in it.

All of this dates back to the Nixon era when the public demaned inexpensive food. Nixon signed off on subsidizing corn farms and other staples to produce affordable food products. Since then, they've genetically crafted this poison in all of our food in an effort to provide the mass public with cheap food.

The corn farmers are in the red without Government subsidization. What does this tell us? There's too much! We don't need all of that. 98% of the corn grown in the U.S. isn't even edible, it's used as feed stock for cattle. So it's not only in our beverages, cereal and just about everything, but it's also in the beef we have here.

It's out of control.

However, HFCS is our Nation's #1 export. So not only are we poisioning ourselves, we are now sharing with the rest of the world.

You are exactly right, but missing half of it. Sugar tariffs the government charges for sugar imports makes sugar very expensive in the US. This was done to protect domestic sugar producers (really just 1 or 2 big companies). So we have tons of dirt cheap inedible corn sold at well below market prices because of government subsidies and way overpriced sugar due to government sugar import tariffs.

Watch the movie Food Inc.

Even before watching that movie I never understood why anyone would eat High Fructose Corn Syrup. Didn't make any sense to me.

Because the average person is dumb-as-fuck and knows nothing about nutrition. Now it should make sense why they would eat HFCS as well as many other things they shouldn't be eating. They just go to the grocery store and grab shit they like the taste of.

jesus fucking christ there's some bullshit information in this thread.

fucking fructose is NOT = high fructose corn syrup. fructose is the primary sugar in most fruit and absolutely fine and good.

and hfcs is NOT the u.s. #1 export, by far.

jesus fuck.

i've been a type 1 diabetic for 27 years now and worked with MANY endocrons over the years. i've checked my blood sugars pre/post eating fruit, drinking pop, etc, et al. tried to educate myself on sugars/glycemic index, fast carbs, slow carbs, etc.

moreover, the original study mentions REFINED fructose. consuming a natural, reasonable amount of fructose daily is fine and good and my experience belies that.

Indeed it is, I was already aware of that. Nothing I said contradicts that.

I don't make any claims about HFCS beyond the fact that when I cut HFCS out of my diet, I lost a considerable amount of weight.

Yeah, the problem is not fruit. The problem is that hfcs and fructose are added to almost everything we eat and we get way more than our bodies are built to handle.

The lecture really is worth the hour and half it takes to watch it.

then i'm not sure why it was important for you to mention that hfcs not = to fructose was already mentioned when i simply reinforced that by stating it again.

yes. too many people eat too much refined fructose, that's the problem. i plan to watch the entire vid when i get a chance, i liked what i've seen so far.

i've recently switched to a diet very high in fruits & vegetables and if i were to add up the amount of glucose in it and told my doc, "hey doc, i'm eating 150g of fructose a day", he would shit a stethoscope.

but the fact is, my sugars are down in comparison to previous diets.

A lot of people in this thread obviously didn't read the article. It is not just high fructose, but all fructose.

Anyway seems like a pretty retarded study to me, what did they think would happen if you give a cancer cell or any type of cell for that matter an energy source like fructose.

Stop blaming President NIxon and go read your history. Prior to the 1890s and early 1900s sugar was added to NOTHING except the occasional cuppa java or tea. It was only after food producers learned that adding refined (pure) sugar to foods made them taste "better" and that the sugar improved sales that the problem began. The sugar problem is also related to the "invasion" of Cuba as at the time Cuba's primary export was sugar and the US investors needed a market, so they created on. The unhealthy aspects of a high-sugar diet wer not understood at the time, so don't go blaming big corporations for politicians or starting it.

We know better now and producers are reducing sugar content, left, right and center.

Still, the average American ingests nearly 130 lbs of sugar yearly and that is very, very bad.

Although there is some truth to what you have written, by and large, you are basing your opinions on a very limited understand of the history of sugar in the USA.

Sally.

Now heres a dose of reality
my dad is 80, smoked 2 packs and drank about a 5th of booze every day for 45 years.
not only is he still alive, but he still drives a car and is quite mobile.

my brother died of cancer at 58. never smoked, rarely ever drank. ate "healthy" foods nearly his entire life.

heres the truth. when your number is up, your number is up.

you cannot escape the grim reaper. you can try any variety of "healthy living" alternatives but when he comes calling you will sound quite silly when you say "but i didn't eat the salmon mousse"

life is random and the universe largely runs on chaos so get used to it.

its only been in the last 10 years or so (at least in canada) that nutritional information was made available to the public so they at least have the option to see what they are getting.

its not that simple. your brother could of been exposed to something harmful in his workplace or if cancer runs in the family, it doesn't mean it will have the same effects on your father as it would him. there are many variables. people don't just die 'randomly'.

you obviously didn't read the study, it's REFINED fructose, not all fructose.

try to consume enough fructose to feed cancer by eating apples and bananas.

Life expectancy does go up and up and that has a lot to do with us getting better at treating things like cancer and heart disease. Eliminating fructose from your diet will help prevent either from occurring in the first place.

I was actually going to post this same lecture!

Salt is also said to be recommended at a level that is more then double what it should be.

I try to mainly drink water and milk now with almost nothing else. That was an easy change for me and might pay dividends sometime later in life. Plus those drinks that I don't consume at home have become nice treats.

I will miss fatfoo the day he stops posting lol
