The difference between broad and phrase keyword ranking at Google Adwords
Normally the difference is obvious and makes sense but sometimes it's weird. For example:
XXX Phrase 300 XXX Broad 300 000 And most likely people type only those two keywords together like phrase without additional keywords, then why Broad is so different... normally it would be the same or maximally 3 X bigger like 900, but it's 1000 X bigger. |

XXX on broad match encompasses thousands of other "related" search terms. For instance if you bid on XXX on broad match, it may also show your ads for searches for "porn," "sex," etc., based on your websites content; withOUT having "XXX" in the query.
However on phrase match, your ads will ONLY show if "XXX" appears in the search query. Broad match keywords = bad idea unless you REALLY know what your doing and have a strong negative keyword list ![]()

Broad can suck of course. You want your ad to show for people typing "ban xxx forever"? lol no.
Sales is the only real ranking.

![]() rather, include those as negative keywords to ensure your ads don't show for "ban" etc.

Yeah, I guess what I was getting at is basically that without using Exact, you are open to issues of paying for clicks that may be way off from what you want. Using a single word like "xxx" as a phrase match is silly anyway. 2 words can be a phrase, 1 can not lol.
Work from your landing page backwards.. not the other way around.. again imho. If you try to get as many clicks as possible to your catch-all landing page that caters to everyone.. welp, good luck with that.

![]() Then I guess broad info is not worthy investments, well, I have never been considering it anyway. I was just curious. ![]() Btw the keyword wasn't "xxx" I meant just "example keyword" by "xxx". ![]() |

i am sticking strictly with exact matches. far fewer searches but my ctr has gone up exponentially and my ad dollars are not flying out the window.
my next test will be testing managed placements. |

remember, quality score is only updated about once a week or every other week. dont make a change today and expect to see a difference tomorrow. likewise, your landing page content, quality and load time do pay into account, but only as much as 15% ![]()
