If I stole your car and legally could get away with it due to some fucked up law, then put it up for sale across the street from you in plain sight so you could see it, it wouldn't piss you off? Can you honestly tell me that action isn't wrong?

There is right and there is wrong. Theft is wrong. Period. There is no way to justify it, though criminals always try. Prisons are full of "innocent" thieves or cons who justify their actions.

It goes further than "not liking" someone and has more to do with that someone stealing from you, which in turn is stealing from your family. If I caught the same people stealing my scenes on mini DVs in my house, they would be shot dead on sight without a second thought. However, since it's online, "hey... it's not so bad, adapt or die. Can't wait to see you at the show, bro! Lets do some biz! Slurp, slurp, slurp."

The sad part is, everyone is so desperate for sales and traffic that they will do anything, say anything and side with anyone to get them. That's why the industry is in the state it's in, because you people will do business with the very shit stains who steal from you. Pathetic really.

There is no point arguing with Far-L over this stuff, he thinks all tube sites are innocent and it is just a couple bad rogue users who are uploading the stolen content, and the sites don't want it either. He also thinks all tube sites were honest from day one, and it's always been the users... total waste of time. It just so happens to be convenient for him that he does business with them and think they are so innocent, because surely he wouldn't do business with them if they were stealing content and profiting from it.

any wonder why you think he defends them so much, go look at his clickstream and where most of his traffic is coming from: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/homegrownvideo.com

Who is arguing? I am disappointed that you would assume so much but that is pretty much par for the course for people that have developed forgone conclusions about things.

In my world, people are innocent until proven guilty. We have have issues with some, just not the ones everyone seems so happy to revile. Also, we don't run our business based on popular opinions. So until we have first hand knowledge I am not about to listen to a bunch of webmasters most of whom I know for a fact have axes to grind that may have zero to do with anything meaningful to our operations.

Does that make us villains as you seem so intent on making us out to be? I don't think so but go on assuming you know the what, where, when, and why of how we do things. Underestimating us, misinterpreting our actions, and drawing irrational conclusions about us does us more good than bad - we have been around long enough to know that much.

Well, aside from the fact that you really aren't addressing the point I was making and want to change this once again into the ridiculous us vs. them damn tubes thing...

So you know... here you go again with an example that clearly has no real logic to it and simplifies the issue with sophistry that only really serves to incite the rabble that don't want to deal with the complexities of the problem in any real way in the first place.

I know you have been in this industry a while, and maybe that whole ex-pat languid decaying sarcasm and soggy nihilism comes off looking so worldly to some here, but I don't have to be impressed by it or indulge it because I have been around long enough to call bullshit.

What makes you so self important to presume "the state of the industry"? I look around and see the same causes for failure that I saw from day one. Piracy? Nothing new. I have a way easier time dealing with tube piracy than I ever had trying to keep our stuff off shelves in NYC back in the day. So what? You want me to take pity on those that haven't figured out how to handle the situation? Why? I wish our competition would wither and fade and go quietly into the good night. I would be happy to absorb all those affiliates that were ridiculously loyal to programs that failed them in the end by not weathering the storms of change.

Does that make me eeeeeeeevil? No. It makes me a businessman. Surely in all your world-weariness and the langor of your tropical paradise you can still understand that? If not, go get a tranny hooker, shoot some porn, get your rocks off, and get off my jock.

What does AVN do exactly? How do they make $100,000.00 a month?

I guess if you cover your eyes and your ears to what is actually going on it makes it easier for you to sleep at night with your "innocent until proven guilty" shit.

I wouldn't be surprised if you are one of the next bigger companies to have a melt down and go by way of the tubes. The tube traffic is helping to keep you afloat now but the tube site owners don't give a shit about you and they will keep making more and more deals cutting into the amount of sales you make from them. The pie is only so big, they don't care how many slices there is, your slice is going to get smaller and smaller till you don't make much from the tubes.

You also way too hung up on your accomplishments from pre 2000. Being in business for "x" long or being featured on CNN or whatever back in 1982 doesn't mean shit these days and it certainty doesn't factor into if you will continue to stay in business and thrive in the future. It just means you did something good "x" many years ago.

Tube sites are just a band aid for traffic and sales, will just prolong your further than most but still wont fix the problem.

I will take that as a emphatic "NO" then... Why am I not at all surprised that you are such a freaking hypocrite.

Keep whining. Keep guessing and underestimating. Keep accusing me and everyone else of stuff that you don't have a single iota of actual, factual knowledge of. Considering I recently interviewed for a mainstream publication, and just got tapped to help with a reality show based on amateur porn for a major cable network, I would have to let you know that you - once again - don't have a clue what you are talking about.

And for the record, longevity counts for something in any industry, and any company that can survive even a couple years in business has a reason to be proud. The sad part is I just don't think you have the maturity or the humility to admit that was an idiotic thing to say.

Why do you always bring that up anyway? Does it bug you that we have such a history and longevity in a highly volitile, often persecuted industry? At this point it simply comes off as jealousy. Understandable. What have you done lately that merited more than a yawn?

I replied to your statement about pornhub not being in the wrong to want to advertise here. That makes my comment completely relevant, and yes, it is them against those who run an honest business. Because they are cannibalizing the business that yourself and many others like you have built up over the years.

Yes, here I go again. I guess I should just shut up and let everyone steal my entire library and profit from it? I'll just stop sending DMCAs out and call it a wrap. Thanks for the sobering advice.

How do I not deal with the "complexities of the problem?" Do you personally know what I've done to protect my content and how many hours a week is dedicated to this issue? Do you know the results I'm getting because of the things I've done to protect my content? The answer is a big fat NO which means you are talking out of your ass.

It is not complex when you push all the bullshit and broshit to the side.

What the hell are you talking about?

You are resulting to some sort of personal attack now? That's pretty low class of you Far-L. I've never personally attacked you even though I disagree with you on some issues.

I don't pretend to be anything I'm not. But I'm not going to sugar coat things so it makes it easier to swallow, and I'm not going to roll over and take it up the ass and become buds with the very people who are ripping me off.

Simple question: How big of a hit has your business taken? If everything is gravy at Home Grown Video, then I have to assume you have not taken any losses at all over the past two years. Please, do tell. I'm down around 35%.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist or someone who you believe thinks they are self important to see the industry as a whole is in a SERIOUS state of decline.

DVD pirates were NOTHING compared to what is happening online. You're a smart man, I'm surprised you don't see that.

How much do you sell your movies for now? Can you even get 8 bucks for one? Honestly? If I buy 10 of a title, how much will you sell it to me for?

Look at it like this.... When the Israelis bootlegged your DVDs in New York, they still sold them to consumers. You got fucked, but the consumer still paid for a product. Now, what were once consumers have been conditioned to free porn. They are not just paying for a bootleg, they are getting it for free and are being conditioned to expect it for free. Everyone loses with this model, except the people who stole it and are sending the traffic to cam sites, courtesy of your videos. You simply can not compare the two forms of piracy. They are nowhere near the same.

Hey, I wish my competition would go away too. But that's not the point. Because after they are all gone, you/me will be next unless this full length video / free porn craze is dealt with.

No one said it makes you evil. Do you feel evil?

But siding with the very guys who have helped cause the downturn in your business, is just ridiculous. You much are smarter than that, I know you are. However, I suppose this is normal behavior from Porn Vally as they are generally the last ones to catch on to just how bad they have been raped online. Jules Jordan is still in denial about Manwin, who he distributes, running tubes with stolen content. That is the typical mindset of Porn Vally, hence all the whoreing out their DVDs to everyone, including the very people who are fucking them.

With all due respect, I don't know anything about you, yet it is you who knows I'm into ladyboys and am an ex-pat living in a tropical paradise, so you may want to rethink the "get off my jock" comment. Just sayin.

I apologize. I felt you were getting personal and if that is not the case then sorry if my "fire with fire" approach burned you up a bit. I just disagree with the analogy you used about cars being stolen off lots and don't think it accurately describes the situation except in a very opaque way.

My online is up. DVDs down. My era of getting ripped off online was some years ago and ended in a fight that I cannot get into any specifics of due to a non-disclosure... I can say that we were happy with the outcome of that issue which also dealt with rights and marks.

This business is always going to be about protecting assets, figuring out ways to monetize, and staying on top of trends. Not really different than many other businesses when you get right down to it.

No doubt, you might also have to consider that competition increased for your particular niche when others figured out how to shoot there. But you know those folks come and go. Business is up. Business is down. The real players know how to operate in times of feast or famine.

In any event, sorry, didn't mean any disrespect. I do appreciate where you are coming from and it is just fine if we don't agree on this, or handle it in different fashions. It is a much better debate regardless when the issues are discussed and no one slings shit to make a point any way.

Fair enough, thank you. I would never attack you personally. I reserve such things only for criminals and trolls, which you are neither.

Pathetic really.
that fucked up law is designed to protect free speach like commentary,
it amazing how two faced you are about it, when the constitution protects you when you peddle "smut" it good
when it protects peoplw right to say "this is my favorite porn scene" it wrong.

adapt or die motherfucker.

funny thing is if you knew how much money is available by embracing the new market you would by crying like a baby about the "fucked up law"
