I have tried a lot of raw food and most is good, it's just too expensive. Some complain about stomach aches but i never had a problem.

Hi,

I've been 80% raw vegan for a while now. It has worked out very well. I drink a lot of green juice from organic vegetables. I wouldn't go back to process foods for anything. The more you read lables and research processed foods...the more you will wish that you had sworn them off much sooner. The only concern about raw vegan I have is B12 and Omegas 3. My non expert advice would be to eat wild caught fish a couple of times a week if you can. (cooked) I keep trying to phych myself up to put seafood back into my diet.

Cheyenne

best not to mix fruit and veggies together for digestion. Use an auger type juicer and avoid the cheap juicers that use high speed like the Juiceman because you will lose nutrients from oxidation.

A cheap version that works pretty good is Omega $200, and if you want to go high end get a Greenstar ($500). If you want something gorgeous to sit on your counter then get the Super Angel Juicer ($900). The high end auger juicers actually save you money because they get all the juice out and expel completely dry pulp.

I disagree with *******. I juice and I mix my veggies with my fruits. I don't really juice because I still do the raw diet, but primarily so I know I am getting all my greens, reds, yellows and any other strange colors that you can think of.

I know if I rely on my cooking skills I don't take in anywhere close to the nutrition I should.

another thing to keep you on your diet is to get one of the organic produce suppliers to drop off a box on your doorstep every week

Also if you go 75% raw you won't have anywhere near the same feeling if you go 95% raw. I have went almost 100% raw several times and I get so much energy that mortals begin to annoy me because they walk and think too slow. It is a WILD ride no doubt.

Even after I stopped the raw food diet the acid reflux stayed away.
actually a good story Bro. !

I get acid reflux some times but not that bad. if I tried that diet I would starve to death as I dont really like that many veggies anyway.

Raw is great, but it's important to understand the purpose of raw. Cooking vegetables severely diminishes their nutrient value. Buying organic frozen vegetables is a cheaper and very effective way at getting the best of them, I'd even say better then buying organic foods that aren't frozen and have been sitting out.

Freezing is typically done immediately after harvesting so you've got an excellent nutrient profile almost completely in tact. Other food that isn't frozen is travelling, in different temperature conditions, and oxidizing away valuable nutrients.

Also, for those that are looking at feeling like a "new" person, this isn't always possible by just going raw or adding more vegetables. One has to eliminate foods that their immune system reacts to.

This is called an elimination diet, lasts about 28 days. At first you're allowed to eat specific foods that are known to be tolerable by most people (greens, certain legumes, apples, pears, certain grains like quinoa, etc.). Then after a week you'll be adding in certain foods and recording your response to them, for example, citrus, berries, kiwi, pineapple, beans. Over the course of the diet you'll be introducing meats back into it and towards the end you'll be introducing the "common" foods that people have reactions to (gluten, soy, eggs, milk, etc.). If a food gives you a headache, makes you tired, gives you any kind of acid reflux response, foul gas, stomach pains, etc. You simple make note of this and avoid them.

This is considered the GOLD standard at eliminating antigens and stress on the immune system. Think about this, if you're eating something like gluten that your body has an autoimmune response to, you're not only taxing your immune system (as if you had an infection) but the autoimmune response is also damaging the villi of your small intestine preventing absorption of vital nutrients. This response also creates small "holes" in your intestine allowing larger protein molecules to escape into the bloodstream (again creating a vicious cycle since your immune system will have to attack those antigens).

This 24x7 stress on your immune system will tax just about every aspect of your body because (as a survival mechanism) it will be more focused on producing cortisol (stress hormone) to support your immune system - depleting sex hormones and even going as far as resulting in a downregulated metabolism (hypothyroid) if the adrenals become "fatigued" and unable to keep up with the stress hormone demand.

So yeah, treat your gut right and so many other things will fall into place. Cognitive clarity, improved emotional "range," youthful energy, weight loss, etc.

Consider the importance of your gut to your survival, it is so important it is the only system in your body that has it's own independently operating nervous system (enteric) and also comprises 75% of your immune system!

I recommend everyone try an elimination diet because it isn't actually a diet. You're able to reintroduce foods back into the diet and eat as much as you like. Even still, people lose 5 to 10 lbs during the course of the diet.

Also! Baddogs response is not uncommon. Once you eliminate something that has been damaging your intestines and allow them to heal, you're able to reintroduce some foods that you used to react to because the holes in your intestine have healed and aren't allowing these molecules into the bloodstream any longer. This is usually done after about 3 months post diet.

This doctor (Bryan Walsh) is very respected in his field and has a detox / elimination diet "challenge" coming up in Feb. Since it's an open invitation he's able to lower his fees and you can email him at any time with any questions. You'd basically be paying for the supplements only (they would cost you around $395). I'm doing it.

Even if you don't want to spend the money, read about the diet and watch the video he has on his page and you'll learn a lot! You can do an elimination diet by yourself w/o the detox stuff he provides. For free... obviously you have to buy the right food.

My best friend is a hardcore raw vegan. Here are the things I've learned from knowing him.

1.) Gourmet raw vegan cuisine is absolutely delicious.
2.) Living a raw vegan lifestyle is expensive.
3.) Raw vegans are weirdos, very much like religious cult members.
3.) I've never met a raw vegan that looked healthy (i.e., they often look frail, boney skinny, pale, have brown teeth, and bad breath.)

Remember, they don't use regular store bought toothpaste or soap. They use exotic "natural" made shit. Some raw vegans make it, some order it at 100x the price of mainstream alternatives.

To each his own I guess.

The point is to help other people. Perhaps there is someone reading this that is on toxic medication pushed down our throats by big pharma and they try the raw food diet and discover it is their cure. To me that is well worth anyone thinking I am some sort of nut. Let me know if you ever need help I will be glad to do what I can.
