or seen on any vehicle?
some dude on a radio call-in show is saying he's driving a shitbox from 1998 with 770,000 miles on it and he's driving it until it hits a million most i've seen is 200,000 plus, most i've had is 120,000

![]() I don't remember the most. I remember the least. It was 42 miles. An old man ran a stop sign and totaled the new car I had picked up that day. |

Drew my Mercedes 190E 2,3 till it had 600k+ KM (370k miles). I put more than half of it there myself.
One of the Landcruisers tiped over at 500k KM (310k) this winter. I usually buy 3 year old cars (write-off) and run till they start costing money. It's the cheapest way to have a car here in Denmark, with our 180% import tax on cars |

I have 230,000km on my 2000 ford taurus, the engine still runs fine however the other components are starting to go, body, springs etc, but I still think I can get a couple more years out of it!
At a toyota dealership, they have a minivan that had reached over 700,000 km on it and they were displaying it for funnsies!

we have a bit over 500k miles on our 67 ford pickup. it was bought new by my wifes grandfather and we bought it from him a few years ago. that truck has been all over the us and canada. it also spent most of its time pulling a 5th wheel trailer. engine is still original but the transmission was changed to give it better towing abilities.

my first car was 1980 honda accord with 350+K... probably would still be running if a tree hadn't ran into me
had a 93 honda prelude with around 275K miles currently have a 2001 jeep cherokee with 195K, so american cars can compete ;) best lesson my dad ever taught me was never to forget the oil changes.... any car can last with regular oil changes ![]() |

You're likely* throwing money away. In the old days 100K was pushing it, but cars these days are much better, and I'm talking Ford, GM, Chrysler too, will often run 200K+ very reliably with basic maintenance.
* the age of the car, has an effect too, since many components tend to wear out / degrade over time regardless of the mileage ... so if you're driving 100K over an extended period of time, say 10+ years, then your method may be more ideal. Ron

Most miles I ever put on a car is 25k miles. My very first car when I turned 18. Had it 3 years and then bought myself an awesome car when working online, put about 10k miles on that then sold it. My last car had it 15 months, BMW Z4 and put 6000 miles on it. The guy I sold it to couldnt believe the deal he got on my car.

220k on my infiniti I30, was my fathers, bought it from him in 02' with 80k on it, was sprayed with 150 shot of nitrous for the remainder of its life, and has one of the fastest i30/maxima passes ever recorded by a stock block/trans car. This thing was a freak of nature, 12.7 in a groccery getter FTW! Car was sold about a year ago to a good buddy of mine, trans blew 600 miles after i sold it to him, but its now got 255k on the ODO

I drive a '92 Civic with 338k on it. Still runs perfectly, although I'm putting parts back on it as they're falling off. Just the other day, the outside drivers side door handle broke (flaps around like there's nothing connected) and I haven't replaced it yet... but really, the car runs perfectly.

![]() I've had a few cars over 200,000 and one over 300,000.
At one time, I would get these jobs where I would have to drive an hour to work. So it was some 100+ miles per day on that alone. When I was back in college, summer between junior and senior year, I had an internship over in Detroit for Polygram. I had to drive over there 3-5 times a week depending on what work they had for me to do. So that is basically me driving from the S.W. corner of Michigan, across the state to their Warren office. Like 300+ miles per day on that drive alone. The drive sucks, but driving out of Detroit was the worst. Driving in, if you hit the highways at 10A. You were wide open and smooth sailing. If you hit before then, it was bumper to bumper, or speed racer madness. Coming out of Detroit, unless it was after 7-8P, it would take me 4-5 hours to get home, and 2-2:3 to get in. So the drive out was always the worst especially at 4-6P. However, it was a useful internship. Even for no pay. ![]() |

I love buying the 5+ year old cars for under $5K with about 100,000 miles on them. My first car I bought after college was the original 1977 Toyota Celica 6 cylinder with just over 100K miles. This car was put on the market to compete with the hugely successful Datsun 240Z.
I would have never believed it but I drove that car until it hit 326,000 and sold it for $50 and it was still running. ![]() Currently, like a few others here, I've been driving a my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I bought seven years ago with about 100K miles on it and the odometer just turned 268,000. ![]() I almost went for the Cash for Clunkers deal but this Jeep has never had any engine or transmission work done since I bought it and it still runs strong and smooth... not bad for a $4800 vehicle.

I remember a story recently about a woman who had an early 90s Toyota Corolla with 99x,000 kilometers on it... A toyota dealership offered her a brand new Corolla in exchange for it, rolled it up to 999,999 and display it in the dealership.

I had a 95 full size Chevy Van 20 from new. Had about 450K kms on it thats, about 282k miles. Drove it as a winter beater up to about 3 years ago, when it became unreliable. It was mostly highway miles, with regular oil changes. Been all over the states and Canada with it, loved it had a real nice ride

My last car had something like 280,000km (about 175,000 miles) on the odo. It was losing coolant and the climate control blend door was broken so it wouldn't heat (a cheap part, but $500+ in labour to remove the dash and get to it). I decided to trade it in rather than fix the blend door and possible head gasket (?) problems...
