google panda.
Since this atrocity ive noticed a trend in my US sites.
Link building and optimizing a site for a particular main keyword doesnt work for me anymore. For these primary keywords im on the last pages of google, this happened for several of my sites. A situation what used to be called the sandbox, and since panda was introduced im in there forever it seems. Keywords and phrases i havent even thought about, and are maybe a couple times in normal text on the sites, are on the first couple of pages. I never built links with these words nor is it by any means the main topic of the site but they are high in google for it. WTF Who experienced this too, and what did you do to regain your main positions? |

one of the main things i read about panda is to move slowly, making changes and leaving it for a week expecting changes doesn't normally work, you need panda to re run the algo and then you see the changes. best of luck ![]()

Google is looking to promote the sites it can make the most money from. Anything else is just an afterthought and irrelevant.

i have been using few methods of promotion, some dont work anymore so need to look for more, there are still some options so i am going into them now, if they will not work now, maybe in future ... nothing lasts forever, new ideas and hard work is always needed

adapt or die.
Google panda has change direction already 14 times since it first came out to fuck you all over, this isn't 2006 any more. It's a totally new ball game where only some elements of SEO still work in todays ranking system.

i dont buy link spots, all hardlink trades mostly ABCD built for years. Thats why it's so frustrating, i have built links consistently for several years for these sites and all that work is now worth nothing.
About over optimization, I have changed the main keyword of a 1 site a while ago. I thought well, this doesnt work so i changed it up a bit. Meaning 80% of links in have the 'old' anchor and about 20% the 'new' one. Now this site is going down for this new keyword. Too funny. It seems with panda, everything i try it turns to shit. I just watched a video which says, when panda thinks alot of your site pages are of bad quality it drags the whole site down in the SERPS. I have loads of rss pulled old posts which are of questionable quality. My newer posts are better quality though. But i havent seen any changes as of yet. I could do a test to delete all old posts. BUT then we have the good old google looking to your site and cant find hundreds of post pages anymore, and your in the sandbox, again! (this happened to me before). So what should i do? |

It's getting to the stage where the safest bet to ensure we are not wasting our time is to be focused on quality. There are still loopholes in the system, but one by one they are being closed up.
One current loophole that I've observed is using images that are unnecessarily heavy. It means Google sends more traffic, but there's a downside too for the surfer

Do you think Google turns a blind eye just because the pages are behind "closed doors"? |

if you have 80% of your links the exact same anchor then that could be your problem. backlink profiles need to look natural, as if people have linked to your site without asking you. having nearly every inbound link exactly the same is very unnatural. to rule this out, get some generic anchor text like, "more here" and shit like that to the diversify your backlink profile, might help rule out that. you might find that the reason you have dropped rankings for those pages is because google has now discounted all of those inbound links for being unnatural so it is as if those links do not exist. this is a reason some sites get a sudden drop in ranks. its really shit with google at the moment because there are soooo many things that can be wrong when you loose rankings that its nearly impossible to know where to start fixing shit. wehateporn is correct that the best method now is to make super quality sites, best with a community as well, as google is only going to continue shitting on lower quality sites.

Same thing happend to me 2 days ago.
Mainstream website, ranking page 1 for the right keyword. Yesterday, bam, gone from google. Totally deindexed, fresh site, no backlinks to it. Now it ranks for some species of a snake in texas. Go figure that one out?! |

I think it's time to rethink the whole link trading scheme. I'm sure Google will eventually be more than capable of seeing which links are truly organic and which ones aren't. It's only a matter of time. |

![]() it might be only the links with the same anchor text get "discounted" by google so its as if they don't exist so if you were to bombard a site with these links, google would simply ignore them and your competitor would stay in the same place due to the diverse backlinks they already have, probably ![]() but if the only links you ever had are all the same, then google discounts them, then its the same as your site having zero backlinks at all. hense the drop in serps.

I think it is a content issue probably. What i said earlier, that these sites have alot of low quality post pages. I am going for it, im gonna change 1 site up and delete all poor quality posts, i got nothing to lose. I will get a temporary boot from google because of 1000's of pages dissapearing, but there will only be qualtiy posts and pages left, and i will keep adding qualtiy posts. Lets see if that will make a difference eventually. |
